First off, the house coffee is absolutely wonderful. My son went with an Italian sandwich from the case and I did the Classic Breakfast with an extra egg. The service was fast friendly and efficient. Enjoyed a lovely evening here for a private supper club event while in town for a conference.in October 2025. The space itself is really beautifully decorated, clean and modern. We were sat in a separate room from the restaurant which was cozy. The staff were super lovely and attentive with our party. We dined on a set menu of three dishes, paired with three cocktails. The appetizer of coconut cashew prawn was my fave course. The dish paired well with the first cocktail, called a whiskey junglebird which contained whiskey, pineapple, Campari and passion fruit and lemon. The main was a chicken skewer with tamarind, plums and roasted plantain. It was paired with the second cocktail, called an East Wind Rickey, which was a refreshing mix of gin, pisco, grapefruit, ginger honey and tonic water. The honey stands on top of the drink added an interesting and interactive element. The dessert, a key lime tart, was delicious but I felt the last cocktail, their clarified pina colada, should have been more sour/bitter vs sweet to cut through the sweetness of the final dish. Enjoyed a nice evening dinner on the patio right next door to my hotel. Took in beautiful views while dining on tasty bites in this laid back yet elevated restaurant. Overall food was great, service needed some work. The wait staff took a while to come by after being seated, forgot a drink, we had to ask to have dishes cleared to make room on the table, brought the wrong check then took a while returning. Also noticed employees smoke around the counter and it carried to the patio area. Tuna poke was seared perfectly. Didn't care for the over ripe mashed avocado, dish needed some heat. This was an easy breakfast for us, we were staying at the hotel next door. I had their Mushroom & Maple Smoked Ham Omelette, which came with potatoes and bread. The small potatoes were very good if not so healthy, the omelette was pretty standard. We are finding great service on our visit to Banff and received that again at Sudden Sally. Stayed at the sister hotel next door and had the pleasure of dining here for both breakfast and dinner, and I'm glad that I did! All of the dishes were amazing and made with thoughtfulness, and premium ingredients and executed well. I was particularly impressed with the beef stroganoff. The beef was really tender and went so well with the stroganoff sauce. From the breakfast items, their omelette and potatoes was a highlight for me. I couldn't stop eating their crispy breakfast potatoes and the omelette was a good mix between fresh and tasty. Had breakfast here twice during my stay in Banff and really enjoyed it both times. The service was quick and friendly, and it never felt overly busy or rushed. The croissant breakfast sandwich and the fried oatmeal were both great. I thought the menu could have had some more variety. Coffee was also good, and everything came out fast. Came here on the way home from a ski trip leaving banff. Finding parking there is nearly impossible. Not sure if I missed a lot but there's only a small lot on the side. We parked in the back so the walk to the front was a bit long in the cold. The restaurant itself was very nice and spacious. Our server was also nice and funny. He added to the positive experience we had there. We got an omelette and pancakes for sharing and they were both very tasty. I've never had pancakes like this so it was a nice new flavor to experience. We got matcha lattes for some caffeine. I make matcha at home regularly so I had something to compare to. The matcha flavor is not very strong but it tastes good if you're not a matcha critic lol. It's pretty sweet so the maple syrup kind of overpowers the matcha. It was a tasty drink though. I think I would come back here if I visit Banff again. It was a nice experience for all of us. read more

I had a great tasting double cheeseburger last night, came with a HUGE helping of fries. Pressed patties with crunchy edges, great taste. We dined at this restraint which is located inside the Canoe and Suites hotel in Banff. First night we ate the salmon with pilaf which was excellent. The chicken wings tasted OK but they were really tiny. We also dined here for breakfast which I thought was very good. We had good selections of entrees. The potatoes were exceptionally tasty. Sudden Sally is connected to the lobby of Hotel Canoe and Suites, our hotel in Banff. We decided to try it one day for breakfast. The inside is modern, with a chic gas fireplace at the centre of the restaurant. I ordered the Breakfast Croissant with a sausage patty and potatoes. The croissant was buttery and flaky, and I really enjoyed the potatoes which were smashed with crispy bits. The coffee was just ok - it could have been stronger. Our waiter, Sam, was very kind and friendly. He gave us recommendations for hikes around Banff, and even recognized/greeted us the next day as we passed by through the lobby. The Japanese beer was a great recommendation and the staff were very attentive. The ambience was very relaxed and easy going. If you prefer to sit at the bar that's also a choice. We LOVED this place! We stayed at Hotel Canoe over our long weekend in Banff and we got coffee and pastries from the coffee shop every single morning. In addition, we had breakfast once and dinner TWICE at the restaurant because we loved it so much and were so blown away by the food, drinks, and service. Having this level of experience IN our hotel really MADE the trip. And our favorite part was our server Martha. We sat in her section over and over again and we just loved her! The omelet and croissant were delicious. Breakfast came out very quickly, and the prices were not outrageous. Our waitress was very polite and attentive. The restaurant is well-lit and also had a cozy vibe with snake plants and music from Nick Drake softly playing in the background. Our issue was that when we walked up to reception, though there were already other diners seated, reception didn't acknowledge us. Reception (all 4 staff) appeared to be busy working through some issue on their kiosk screen, yet we weren't greeted at all. We stood there awkwardly and when one of the staff members finished, he greeted us curtly, as if we were presenting as an inconvenience to his morning. This put a sour taste in our mouth, and it's a shame because if it weren't for this gentleman's attitude, we would have returned multiple times since we stayed 5 nights at the neighboring hotel. For what it's worth, the staff thanked us as we left. We also docked a star from the rating because inconsistent menus and service. When we sat down, we were confused because we were given menus that looked identical yet were inconsistent. To avoid confusion, management should probably update their menus or at the very least ensure correct menus are presented. We also heard a different waitress ask her table if they had any allergies, yet we were never asked that question. Though Sudden Sally appears to have received above average reviews from other diners, we weren't happy with our experience. read more
