My son normally doesn't like seafood but he couldn't stop eating the mussels. They have weekly specials on their website. Definitely check it out before you make a visit over! We went on Thursday and it was pasta night specials for $20. We tried the Clam Linguine, Carbonara, and Linguini Bolognese. The Clam Linguine was the lightest of the pastas. There was a good amount of clams. The Carbonara was extremely rich and probably the least favorite of the three. I thoroughly enjoyed the Linguini Bolognese. The pasta was cooked al dente and the flavors were so deep and comforting. The Braised Alberta Pork Ribs in a Root Beer Glaze was tasty too. You can really taste the root beer flavor so if that's not your thing, you should skip this dish. My son kept raving about this meal for the rest of our trip! I can't wait to come back to see more of Canada and of course to have another delicious meal here.

Add dumplings to the menu, because I know you'd do them exceptionally well. Every time I was here, it felt like the place to be. Don't waste your time anywhere else.

Not a first great impression. 3) A different Caucasian male employee used his bare hands to layer various toppings on a pizza that had to be placed in the oven. He wiped his hands on his black shirt. He walked in the back, came back out holding a package, opened it, stuck his right hand in it to remove and add some greens onto another pizza that had to go in the oven. Thankfully, not our order. Customer service was ok. Our server asked us if we need cutlery and how is our pizzas tasting. Wasn't busy.

The eggs were always a perfect over-easy and the chipotle mayo from the "loaded" has browns goes well with the dish. The staff is all super friendly and recognized me as a return customer by my second day there. They have toys they hand out to kids when families come in and the place seems very family friendly. In addition to the inside seating, there's a great patio that has a wonderful view from it. Ahhhhhhh I donno, we got the cheese plate and the cured meats were good, one of the cheeses was good! The pickled veggies were definitely pickled and strong! The lady got the bison pasta dish, it was pretty good, had some nice mushrooms in it! I got pork belly and scallops and they both had good flavor and were good! The service was very good and our waitress was friendly and told us things to do in the area, I just feel like for what you spend it's just not that amazing, it's just okay in my opinion! read more

Friend and k ordered the half roasted chicken. Came raw at the bone. Informed the server who took it to the kitchen and returned to say the chef had jumped down his throat that it was just the bring. We tucked in and ate what was cooked, leaving the bloody carcass for him to see. Chef came out and argued three times that it was not so. The blood was oozing out of the bone. After a brief argument we received complimentary dessert. Wouldn't have been so upset had the staff not argued with us repeatedly. read more

I always say that you can taste fresh easily. The team here, and our server was wonderful. Actually the team here was a microcosm of all the wonderful people at both The Primrose and the entire facility. The comforting and relaxing ambiance along with the amazing views help set the tone of this restaurant. Morning was the perfect time to watch the light hitting the lake and Canadian Rockies. The steak is cooked perfectly medium rare, soft, juicy and pinky. Salmon is nicely seared. Shrimps are juicy. The risotto is well prepared and gets distinctly flavored. The seafood is nice but a little too far on the spicy scale. Petite potato, asparagus, bell peppers, mushrooms, baby bok Choy are all nicely prepared. Dill and parsley complimented the seafood flavorfully. Unfortunately, we don't have room for dessert. Lost the picture of the shared plate. It's not the high end of fine dining but it's ok. If you stayed in the hotel, there 10% off coupon. Or the sister hotel offered a $25 off for a romantic package too. Give them a try.

The hotel in Banff was an excellent choice. I had a light dinner at Sudden Sally, which is adjacent to the Canoe, while waiting for a next-day trip into the lakes and waterfalls in and around Banff. Amy was helpful and courteous, taking my order for pork belly sliders (tomato jam, crispy onions, A1 Sauce, Jack Cheese, $24). With a glass of Village Cider ($12) and a double of Woodford Reserve ($24) and an iceberg wedge ($9), the total was well in keeping with local prices (and we're informed tips are shared with the kitchen staff). The servings were tasty, nicely proportioned, and there was little left of the meal when I finished, feeling well-fed. I found the restaurant airy, clean, and comfortable. Conversations were inside-voice level, allowing for easy listening while taking in the beautiful surroundings.
