Great service and very accommodating to our large group, managing several checks and staggered arrivals

I'd give this place no stars if I had the option. How this place has 4.7 stars is beyond me. Was told it would be an hour wait for a party of 5 which can be understandable for a Saturday night. Checked after an hour and was told it would be another 10-15 mins, that came and past, checked again was told it would be another 15 minutes, went to check again and she was like "oh the party of 5?" She went to check but was able to stop at a table get some crayons for them, stopped and spoke to someone else and then finally I believe it was a manager that she was talking to. I had enough, walked up and said listen were leaving it's been 2 hours and now your just about to seat us? We saw parties the same size get seated before us. I didn't even have to eat here to know this is a place that I would never go back to. All I got was a sorry. By far the worst customer service. For a new restaurant the first impression is the most important and they failed horribly!! read more

Terrible service! Had to ask for napkins to go with the food. Then the bartender gives us a few beverage napkins not even table napkins. The check was placed in front of us and that was the end as the service stopped until I flagged him down for a beer refill. He never even asked if we wanted a soda refill and the glass was empty when he put the beer down. When another bartender came on duty we were asked at that point if we wanted more water. This was due to the little bit of ice left in the glass had turned to water. In the end I felt like it was too much of an effort to wait on us. Another team member was standing right in front of us as well and never looked to see that we did not have utensils or at least napkins. After trying several times to get into the place and not being able to as it was too busy - - it turned out to be a huge let down. read more

Great fresh beer. Food was good. I recommend trying a flight . I will definitely stop back.

Last night, we took our small children to The Explorium Brewpub for dinner. Something went wrong with our order, some sort of printer screw up we were told, and we ended up having to wait an excruciatingly long time for our food. Which any parent knows is NOT easy with small children. Our server, Jon, was very apologetic and kept us laughing throughout the entire experience. The very sweet manager, I didn't catch her name, came over several times to offer her heartfelt apologies and, on top of that, comped our entire bill (which wasn't cheap). As if that wasn't enough, the amazing chef let our children make their own pizzas and let them watch the pizzas cook in the brick oven. Although this could have been a horrible experience, the AMAZING staff at The Explorium Brewpub made it one to remember. Our kids woke up today talking about their new chef skills. Meh. It's a nice place and a welcomed addition to Southridge Mall, but there is much to be desired. My burger was the Brewer's Burger on a pretzel bun. It was soggy and gross. The service was ok, but understandable since it was a Friday night and they were packed. The young lady was really trying. Aside from that, the bartenders at the outdoor bar were too busy hanging out with friends and regulars to notice us for much of the time. Not cool. The beer is good, though, it almost made up for the rest of our experience. Hopefully, they improve with experience. read more

I might not typically think to go to the mall for dinner, but this is worth the trip! Had the Friday fish special - it was Northern Pike the night I went- it was fantastic. Super meaty and flavorful. Paired it with their Golden Ale beer which was also delicious. Quite a few other interesting options on the food and beer menu that I will definitely be back to try! read more

Great awesome idea in a mall. Service at our table was good. Partially greeted upon walking in but looked at almost like we weren't their typical millennial crowd. It was prime dinner time 530 and restaurant was dead but outside was packed. It did get busier as we were leaving because it was trivia night. As it being out first time here, we were basically thrown 2 drink menus and 2 food menus each and then asked every 3 minutes if we decided, no! How bout a suggestion? When food came-it was just ok. 2 burgers and a Rueben. The food had good flavor but nothing I'd need to come back for. Between $10-14 a piece. We got dessert before we left -we got and cookie that was burnt and a cobbler that had a weird spice and too many peels with fruit. Not worth the extra $6 each that it added to the bill. Soda was $2 per and we were offered no refills. Careful if u get extra sauce-it will be .50 per side. Overall cool idea but food just ok. read more

Very cool bar with tons of home brewed options. Helpful happy service. Not your typical "at the mall" kind of joint. Outdoor patio with roaring firepit looked very inviting although it was a bit too chilly out the night I was there. Only had the thin -crust pizza, which I'd give a good score on. read more

I wanted to go to a brewpub for my birthday. Back in the day I had been to most of them in the Milwaukee area but with the boom of them there are now many that I haven't tried. So after looking at several websites we decided on Explorium. Online the menu looked interesting and the beer sounded great. I was specifically looking for a nice hoppy IPA. As far as food, I look for something unique, sometimes a good burger. My wife ended up getting the BOOM which is the burger cooked in pizza dough. I got the stuffed bacon wrapped meatloaf and the Captain Kidds IPA. To start, the onion strings on the meatloaf were almost cold. My meal was finished before my wife's and sat until hers was done. The IPA was not hoppy so I tried the double IPA again, more fruity than hoppy. My wife's burger tasted like three week old hamburger from the grocery store. There was nothing special about the meal or the beer. We do not have to go back to this place again. We would not recommend it either. Try Erv's Mug on Ryan Road or Milwaukee Burger Company. Both have a great selection of beer and much better food. read more

The few times that we have been there I really enjoyed the atmosphere the people and the drinks and food. There is a wide selection of beer and other different kind of alcoholic beverages. I love the outdoor area it kind of reminds me of Bayview very chill and relax. read more

Explorium has definitely gotten better with time. I have been there several times now since they opened and was pretty pleased with my last outing. For a drink, I had the cucumber saison, which was super light and crisp. Their beer list is always impressive and creative and the saison was the perfect refreshment for a warm summer night. For an appetizer, I ordered the buffalo cauliflower. This is one of my favorite apps in general. They were fried and came with celery, carrots and ranch. I wish they had a "wetter" coating on them because they tasted a little too close to something I may pull out of the freezer at home, but they had a nice kick to them. I ordered the Atlantic cod for my entree, which is part of their Friday night fish fry. It was baked with warm veggies, potato pancakes and slaw. I'm not a huge cod person, so I don't want to opine on it too much. It seemed a little chewy, but that might be normal. The flavor was good. The potato pancakes were truly excellent and the slaw was tasty as well. The bill was not too bad either, especially with their beers being very reasonably priced (unlike other MKE breweries). The patio also offers a very nice ambience during the summer. I need to remember to come here more often because it is truly enjoyable. read more

Great first impression~friendly service~excellent menu choices~lovely comfortable atmosphere~everyone loved their food & beverage selection!!! Got a chance to meet the owner and general manager~very professional & friendly!! We visited the Explorium on 4-8 - after visiting 2 other breweries in the area. The beer was pretty good, however the service was horrible. It took a long time for our waitress to bring our drinks (there were 5 of us) and she delivered them in multiple trips. The food was handled the same way in shifts. She never came back to see how we were doing and offered a refill on any beverages. Our waitress was in the wrong line of business. I have never felt so neglected by a waitress in my life. We may be back for the beer - but will think twice about the food service. read more

Last night was my second visit Beer excellent!!! I have tried 5. Food very good. However although the Staff was friendly and the Manager stopped by to check in after that the experience CHANGED. Food to awhile to come and it took over 25 minutes to get our bill when we asked. A mistake was made on the bill the person I was with gave up trying to get it corrected. I believe either they need more training of their staff or they just need more staff scheduled. No matter how good food and drink is you also need to experience good customer service!!!! read more

The Best Brew Pub ! The Atmosphere Great. Staff Excellent, Friendly, Answers Any and All questions. The Food Is Excellent! Not one thing wrong. Taste Great. Music in backround does not take over your conversation or blast your ears out. I am Gluten Free and they do have Gluten Free items and It Is excellent. You can go there with No Worries! The first time dining at Explorium I ordered the Brewhouse Chop Salad which was delicious; our waiter was wonderful and the service was perfect The 2nd time I ordered the gluten free pizza and it was by far the best gluten free crust I've ever had! Went to Explorium Brewpub last night. The waiter was very friendly, but service was very slow, maybe because they are still working out the kinks. The food, though, was awful. We had flatbread, pizza, calzone, and burgers. The flatbread, pizza and calzone had a very hard crust that tasted frozen and bland. The sauce also had a weird taste. The burger was burnt and tasteless, too. The drinks were good, but food was disappointing. read more

Our group ordered a couple giant pretzels that were perfectly soft and buttery. Tried most of the house beers, everything was really good. The porter was smokey and delicious. When we got our table ordered the brined wings with "extra medium" sauce and they were meaty, spicy, juicy goodness. I am still dreaming about the sauce from my curry mussels, buddy said the chop salad was really good, burgers were cooked perfectly, and the fish fry looked amazing. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Went with a group at prime time on Friday night their second week open. In hindsight should have called to reserve but we got to hang out at the club chairs by the fire. Will DEFINITELY be back. read more

Overall a great experience and will definitely be back! The beer flight was a great way to sample the different beers available, I especially liked that I could choose the beers I wanted on the flight. The food was good, we started with a HUGE pretzel which was very good. The burgers and flatbread tasted good too. I love that we now have another good dining option in the area. read more

I wanted to love this place. After a first visit for lunch shortly after opening we were impressed, but after our second visit doubt we will go back. We suggested going there with another couple and talked it up. it took 20 minutes to get our drinks. After ordering, another 20 minutes for an appetizer. We were there for an hour and a half before getting our meals. We were getting water logged from the sofa refills and overwhelmed with the screaming kids next to us. At one point our server said she would 'see what was going on back there but never returned with an answer. Our friend finally flagged down the manager and asked him to check. After about 10 more minutes we received our bland and lukewarm food. We laughed it off at the time so as to keep the mood light, but were embarrassed that we had recommended going there. It would have really helped for the server or manager to be more proactive in taking care of things as well as offering some kind of compensation- appetizer, dessert, round of drinks etc... they knew service was terrible and only said 'sorry about that hope you come back.' Not a good impression at all. read more
