Creative cocktails

Taking a break on the long drive back from Green Bay to Des Moines, we were looking for a non-chain place not too far off the highway. We arrived around 2:30pm and the place was hopping! We were happy to snag one of the last open tables. The crowd skewed toward the older side and the live music reflected this, which was fine by us! View of the boats on Lake Pewaukee and the tables had umbrellas to shade from the sun. The menu offerings were somewhat different from what was listed on line. Hubby had the Rueben sandwich with tots. He appreciated that the dressing was for dipping and not on the sandwich. I had a make your own pizza which was ok but not great. (5/10 on my pizza scale but I am a self-proclaimed pizza snob from the East Coast!). Cracker thin crust that was burned on the edges but the pleasant surprise was it was but into slices and not tavern cut as most Wisconsin pizzas are! Very creative selection of cocktails but since we were looking at a long drive ahead of us, we did not indulge. Pleasant break but points off for bringing a new plastic cup and straw for each refill and the styrofoam container was overkill for the remaining slices, especially so close to the water.

First timers here. We came here after my graduation ceremony. Servers were pretty attentive and professional. The food was great and cooked the right way. Definitely loved the scenery around this restaurant. Totally coming back again.

Very nice spot that is right on the lake! The service was amazing. Our waitress was very friendly and she checked on us frequently. I would go there for drinks but would pass on the food apart from the wings (wings were great and they are 75 cents on Wednesday). The pizza was okay. It needed more sauce and to be hotter. The paninis also needed to be hotter. Again, nice place for drinks and some apps because the atmosphere is nice and it's right on lake but wouldn't eat a meal here. They also have live music on the weekends!

On the water, outdoor venue with tiki bar. Reasonable drinks and the shrimp is awesome! Outdoor entertainment

Had chicken parmigiana that was probably the best I've had. Food was brought out quickly and server was so very nice.

Easily the most frustrating place to eat in the Pewaukee metro area on a Friday night. Yes the sunset views are fun/ nice but the service is weak. I have been here many times over the years, 25+. I'm always Waiting and waiting with no support. We get here on a Friday night @555pm. We go get our own drinks and wait. Seated @725 no server in sight to take the order until 745pm, food arrives at 820pm, so hungry. Done eating by 830pm. Just wow. They cant manage their volume. Leave by 840. It feels like insanity here between 430-830pm. I contemplated $0 tip. There was 1 server covering 10 tables on the lower level outside area. It was terrible. Wtf. Total bullshirt. I wont do this again.

Always busy starting late afternoon so can be very difficult to get a table. Starting at 5 they have a host/hostess available for outdoor seating but not for the inside or the deck. Very odd that part of the restaurant is an every man for himself situation with seating. Found several issues with the food. The poppers sounded interesting as they are fried in egg roll wrappers. They arrived soggy and the bacon inside was way undercooked. Why wouldn't you use cooked bacon?? The server was kind enough to remove from our bill. My next visit I ordered the chimichanga. The description seemed like lettuce was part of the filling so I ordered without lettuce just to be safe. It arrived and yes, the chimichanga was deep fried with lettuce INSIDE! Why on earth????? It really would have been delicious without the hot soggy deep fried lettuce. The views are wonderful and the remodel is great as is the variety on the menu but the food just always falls short. Nothing has a wow factor and other things are just executed poorly. Good drink prices.

I had a fun time at the Sunset Grill in Pewaukee regardless of the rainy day and no lake activities. While the inside seating was full I was a bit hesitant to sit outside due to the impending rain but the umbrellas on each table provided ample protection and the rain didn't seem to bother the servers. In addition the band played regardless of the drizzle as well. Had to wait a little to long after being seated for a server to get to us but after that they were very attentive. Unfortunately they were out of the ingredients to make our first 2 drink choices, but I have to tell you our third choice was the sweet heated margarita and it was delicious both sweet and hot. As I'm still new to the area I had only tried cheese curds once at another restaurant and I failed to see what all the hype was about but decided to try them again here and they were outstanding! I can't say enough about food both the potato skins and the patty melt were both full of flavor and enjoyable. I'm looking forward to coming back on a sunny day with friends.

Nice place to eat and a lot friendlier than some other establishments in that area. Food was good (we split a pizza) and well priced.

It's a pretty dark, steakhouse, vibe inside with old school Frank Sinatra-esque music in the background. The service level here was perfect, I love a place where the staff plays zone and if someone notices something then they cover it seamlessly. Nick was our server and took great care of us. we tried the following: Drinks - I had a dirty gin martini and my wife had a captain and diet (her go to) and both were perfectly mixed. Appetizers - We were really looking forward to the buratta appetizer, but it had just gone off menu, so we went with the goat cheese that replaced it, which was good (but I would cut down the number of sun-dried tomatoes by 1/3). My wife ordered the onion soup and really enjoyed it. Mains - My wife had the filet and said it was the best she has had in a long while. I am a sucker for lamb and wasn't feeling like a steak, so that is what I went with. Both were amazing and we both had mashed potatoes. Mine also came with carrots with a demi-glaze. Everything was delicious. Dessert - The restaurant was kind enough to serve my wife a complimentary dessert for her birthday. It was amazing, but we were so full we could only manage a few bites. Will definitely be back!!

It was an early seating 5:00. We were guided through a fairly empty dining room to the upstairs room. There was one couple already seated in an otherwise empty room. We were seated immediately next to them..... we may as well have been sitting at their table. I not only thought this strange but actually a bit rude. But, I did not make an objection. The food at this restaurant is always good and the wild game selection along with the specials are usually the good bets. In the past the wine list was more cost friendly but still not bad. My only criticism of the menu is the rather limited appetizer selection. Our entrees were very good but overall the experience was stilted by the poor judgement of the hostess serving us.

They have a very nice simple and clean salad bar that is free with any entree. We ordered a 10 oz Ribeye steak with 1/4 rack of ribs and a 1/2 chicken with a 1/4 rack of ribs and both with roasted red potatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection and was larger than I expected! The chicken was also super delicious - very tender and perfectly cooked. The roasted red potatoes were also an A+... Also comes with a large loaf of homemade bread which was really good. We also had a total of 3 Old Fashions and 2 beers (Spotted Cow of course). Their Old Fashions are done perfectly! The total bill came to $130 which to me is an incredible bargain - 2 dinners (chicken, steak, ribs, potatoes, bread, 2 salad bars), 3 cocktails and 2 beers... plus amazing service - MARY ROCKS! Highly recommend eating here if you get the chance!

Both Casey and Chris, our waiters for those nights were super attentive and very friendly and, after being in the hospitality industry for most of my life, that is a rare thing nowadays! Everything we have had there was excellent from steak sandwiches, burgers and shrimp skewers to pizza and cheese curds. And yes, even though it gets a little loud in there, it is so worth it for their food and hospitality. Can't wait to come back again when it is a little nicer out and sit on the patio! Thank you for elevating bar food in Waukesha!!! And again a shout out to the staff!

Which I guess could be kind of odd to have on a bar menu, but if it's on the menu, you would think it would be good. The second it was put down. It looked like it came out of a prepared TV dinner. The meatloaf was thin, sliced, and tasted did just like a Salisbury steak. And kind of chewy. Not appealing on the plate either. He substituted a side salad instead of fries. The side salad was super tiny and not worth it. I ordered wings. When they were delivered all 12 were drummies. I didn't get one flat. The waitress then brought me out some flats mins later when I asked for them and showed her my plate. As for beverages, I ordered a tap of spotted cow and it was very flat and not cold. We won't be back anytime soon.

Okay, I will say right from the start that I am a fanboy of Tofte's Table. Have been coming here…read morefor many years and have always been impressed. Even had our 40th anniversary party here (on a Monday night). It's an excellent restaurant AND with reasonable pricing. The restaurant is small and intimate. There is a bar area, that has seating, or you several different areas of different size groups. A large table in the middle can accomodate a large group. The staff are always over-the-top amazing. The menu is tapas style has a large variety of dishes, and they change it occasionally to keep it fresh. There are several items that are always on our go-to list including the truffle brussel sprouts, chicken legs, pork belly, grilled veggies and the flourless chocolate cake. The owners Christina and Jason are terrific people. Super easy to work with when we planned our anniversary party.

We started with the Brussels sprouts. They seemed deep fried, which isn't my preference, but we loved them. Garlic aoeli and Parmesan was an unexpectedly good flavor. They then served the roasted beet arugula salad. Although we don't like beets we loved this salad. One serving gave each of three of us a decent amount of salad. It had a great dressing applied in just the right amount and delicious pickled onions. The roasted beets seemed a touch mushy but were palatable to beet dislikes. Next we moved onto the scallops. We highly recommend them they arrived on a bed of pasta with some vegetables and a wonderful cream sauce. We loved them. Just be aware you need to say how many scallops you want. It's $8 per scallop. We finished with the beef tenderloin. Be careful with your requested doneness. We asked for medium rare and received rare. Otherwise they had a nice crunchy sear and a delicious flavor and accoutrements like mushrooms and the most smooth, creamy, and flavorful garlic mash I've ever had. It had five good sized slices. These three dishes filled up three of us. They serve one plate at a time which gives your meal a relaxed, social feel and also gives you time to digest. It takes about 20 minutes for the brain to receive the message you are full so I think dining at this relaxed pace allows you both to get the full flavors of each dish and also to eat just the right amount and not overeat. The only bad part of the meal was the espresso martini. Don't get it. I've tasted way better. Didn't even finish it because of not great taste.
