Regrettably and despite my best efforts, I think I'm becoming a beer snob and this place is largely to blame. Before I tried some of their beers, I would never even think of ordering a sour or an IPA, but they have an awesome array of beers, seltzers and even hard sodas that are worth trying (the hard root beer is indescribably good and I can't stand any of the store-bought competitors). Regarding the food, I get the brussel sprouts EVERY time I go, and their Cuban sandwich is another standout. While it is a brew pub, it's definitely a place you can take kids, (the grilled cheese was popular with my seven year-old). The staff is friendly and very helpful, especially when you can't decide on what beer on their "Greek diner" sized list to get. Cool decor and setting as well. read more

When my cousin suggested I meet him at a mall brewery, I was like 'Nah Fam'. Not gonna happen. But I surrendered to the idea, and was pleasantly surprised. As soon as I walked into The Explorium, the mall feel drifted away. Several different types of seating including bar, short tops, tables in the bar area, and a family style section. Something for everyone. Menu on the tables and on the wall. I enjoyed a delicious house brewed scotch ale. As one is required to do when visiting Wisconsin, we ordered the cheese curds. Seriously some of the best curds I've ever had. The side of ranch made them even more awesome. The owner stopped by and cheers-ed our table. Everyone was so kind. I went again and ordered the fish and chips even though I said I wouldn't. I am glad I did. It's served on a plate now. Their beer battered cod is easily one of the best in the area. I'm not sure why I decided to return to this restaurant for food but after today, I would not recommend this location. I came here with a coworker months ago and sat at the bar. There was nothing spectacular about the service or anything but nothing that would deter me from coming back. I dropped by today because I was in the area and was hungry. I was seated and it took a while for the server to great me & get me my drink. I already knew what I wanted so I ordered my food right away. It took what felt like 20 - 25 minutes (at a time that wasn't super busy for the restaurant) and to get my food, which was just a regular burger. When it did come out, my server checked on me within the first 30 seconds but then disappeared. I ate my food and then was clearly done eating, even with my used napkin on the plate and the server was no where to be found. It took about 10 minutes before the server came by and by then, I was just ready to do. If the server would have come back & checked on me at least once or twice more, I would have ordered dessert but since I was left there, sitting & waiting for a long period of time after I had finished eating, I sipped dessert and just cashed out immediately. I certainly will not be back due to the slow and inattentive service - especially for a quick bite to eat. I get that there is a labor shortage & all that jazz but it's still no excuse. read more

This place is pretty solid. Definitely beer centic with a variety of tasty brews. If beer ain't your thing, they got a full bar. Nice atmosphere. Lots of large TV screens to watch the games and a decent variety of higher end pub fare ranging from pizzas and burgers, and some interesting apps. The pint of bacon is good, but almost too sweet. I would consider it a dessert. The giant pretzel looks good. I've really enjoyed their beers the few times I've been here. I like that they have beer flights and different size pours available, including 4 oz pours. The staff has always been pleasant and friendly. Today we shared boneless wings and truffle fries. (Both are apps) The menu says it's a meal for two. The fries were tasty, and a generous basket was only $6. The wings were $14 for a pound. The first few were just o.k. and I wouldn't recommend them, because the more we ate the smaller they got. They ended up being "popcorn" wings. I was expecting maybe a dozen nuggets, not 30 pieces the size of peanut M&M's. When they're that small, it's all breading. Will we be back? Atmosphere - For being in a mall you lose that vibe as soon as you walk into the place. The dark wood looked great in the place. We sat in the dining area where you can see some of the brewing process taking place. On the other side of the wall is bar, which is very spacious area. Food Drink - The reason we are here. I started with Tiramisu stout while my wife had a guest tap cider ÆppelTreow Winery & Distillery's Blackbird Berry Cider. The stout hit the spot. The berry cider still had a nice apple crispness to it. Then I finished the meal off with a taster of DAMN! That's Good! Double IPA. I should have ordered a pint Lunch - Yelp helped with a 25% discount on an appetizer on check in. We ordered two different apps as had an early dinner planned; truffle fries and Buffalo wings. The wings were different but tasty. The truffles fries were dusted with parm, my wife could have used more truffle, I liked the amount they had. Wife and I have been here 3-4 times. Went last night. Saw they had Fish & Chips on the regular menu. It was a Saturday. We both ordered it. The fish was excellent. I certainly appreciate the quick response from your manager last night as well as the offer of the gift card to try to rectify what happened. It was both professional and courteous. However, I am a little taken back though by the second message you sent through messenger this morning (but failed to post in your reply to the review). I have provided a screenshot here so others reading this will have context relative to the rest of my reply. I am not sure what you mean as far as "far less time and with far less aggravation on (our) part" if we would have just let someone know. As far your statement insinuating that we were aggravated, all I will say in response to that is that it is quite assumptive. As far as time, when we decided to leave, we approached the hostess stand but it was unattended. I found the nearest waitress and told her that the restaurant could give our table to someone else and advised as to the reasons why. The time it took to do so was nominal. I was a server for three years and a bartender for 10 years. As both someone with prior experience working in the industry and a customer, I didn't realize that it was a patron's responsibility to manage staff and ensure they are doing their jobs correctly and timely. It appears as though you may just not agree with the method, manner, and platform in which we chose to address the issue. This was my third time going to this location. The first time was a great and wonderful experience. My wife, having celiac, was excited at the list of beer and food items she could have. The service was great. The second time was a Friday evening last fall. This time my wife wanted to try their GF baked fish, however they were out of fish at 6:00pm. I get it, it's Friday in Milwaukee. The service was ok, seemed like not enough wait staff for the number of customers. That beings us to yesterday. It was my birthday, and I chose this place for the GF menu items, fish fry, and beer choices. We the a party of 9 people, half were former Milwaukeeans looking to have a fish fry. We arrived at 12:50 for our 1:00pm reservation. I was looking forward to a fish fry, potato pancakes and an Old Fashioned. When the waitress took my drink order I mentioned I wanted the Old Fashioned that is on special for the fish fry since that is what I wanted to order. She notified me that they didn't have any fish. Sorry our fish order didn't come in. No fish at all, on a Friday, in Milwaukee. And almost a quarter of the menu are fish dishes. To me it's like going to a Brewer game and going to a concession stand to be told they have no brats, anywhere in the stadium. I would have hoped the manager or owner at this time was frantically on the phone trying to get fish from somewhere. I still have never had a fish fry from this place because both times I tried, they didn't have any fish. So our party of 9 left without ordering anything and went to one of the literally hundreds of restaurants in the Milwaukee area that had fish. At this point I'm done with Explorium. Not going back for a third attempt to try their fish. My wife can get a GF fish fry (with fried, not baked fish) from at least 3 other places in the area. read more

Wonderful as usual! I hadn't been to Explorium in a while and I was pleased to find the food, service, and brews were as good as I remember. We sat outside on the patio for lunch, sometimes sitting outside means the amount of attention you get from a server is slim due to them being split between inside and outside. Gabriella our server was wonderfully attentive, regularly coming out to check if we needed anything and bringing refills on soft drinks before we had to ask. She also had a good knowledge of the beers on tap. For lunch I had the Brew house chop salad which was very tasty. All around a wonderful lunch. read more

Stopped here with my wife and her nephew and his girlfriend for dinner. Start off our meal we had Ruben bites were very good. The chipotle sauce was a great addition the made the bites even better. We came on a beautiful Saturday afternoon (5/1/21) to sit on the dog friendly (!) patio. You do still need to see the hostess inside for outdoor seating. The restaurant has a large food and drink menu, including many gluten free options. Everything seemed to be appropriately priced (3 beers, 1 beer flight, 1 cocktail, 1 appetizer, and 1 entree-sized salad for $58 pre tip). What a great experience! A friend and I dropped by here based on the recommendation of a few friends who really enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and most importantly, the beer. Seating and service were prompt as expected. I did get a little overwhelmed at the variety of beers they had but that was easily solved with a flight of 4. The menu was diverse but I could not see anything other than the burgers. The meal was great, the service and atmosphere were terrific, and beer was unique and paired perfectly with the food. A brewpub in a mall. The idea didn't really give me high expectations for the place. Most restaurants attached to malls seem to be low quality chains. Explorium is a locally-owned hidden gem. On this most recent trip we sat out on the patio. Something else you wouldn't expect from a mall restaurant Explorium has an amazing patio. Complete with an outdoor bar, TVs, and a firepit it's the perfect setting for a beautiful spring evening except for the view of the mall's parking lot, but I suppose there's not much that can be done about that. Explorium has about 20 of their in-house beers on tap in addition to about 10 guest beers and ciders. I tried their Humboldt's Homeland Hefeweizen and their Tiramisu Stout. Both solid beers, but the Tiramisu Stout was the standout with coffee and vanilla flavors adding a nice compliment to this the dark, rich milk stout. Their food menu is what I'd call high-end pub fare. It consists mainly of burgers, wings, pizza, etc, but all skillfully prepared with better ingredients than your local corner bar. On this trip I was running late so my friend offered to split her BOMB with me. The BOMB is essentially a 1/2 lb bacon cheeseburger wrapped in pizza dough and baked like a calzone. That and the fries it comes with hit the spot perfectly and was just the right amount of food for two people. While I kind of wish it wasn't in a mall in Greendale, it's definitely worth checking out whether you plan on doing some shopping at the mall or not! read more

Light coating tender and tasty. The waffle ok. But the syrup had a weird smokey flavor which spoiled the meal. My wife had the quiche. Soggy crust. And the salad was supposed to have a balsamic dressing. When we asked where it was this weird dialog ensued. "Doesn't the salad come with dressing? Yes. Well I don't have any. Oh do you want some? Well isn't that supposed to come with the salad? Yes do you want some? Yes! Meanwhile. We had another 20 minutes before getting a coffee refill While waiting for a coffee refill a worker asked me to slide over so he could pull down a screen. What's that?
