My sister raved and raved about how amazing the The Famous Fish Sandwich was. She talked about it so much I had to try it. She claimed it was the best fish sandwich that she had ever tasted and that is a big claim. We are a foodie family and to say such a thing has to verified by multiple sources, including myself. This Fish Sandwich is AMAZING! No wonder this place is called Famous. I am not going to lie I was skeptical of my sister's claim on this sea cuisine sammy but she was right. First of all, the piece of fish they give you is Moby Dick big! A large piece of flaky Haddock is beer battered and deep fried to perfection. It normally comes on a French roll but I opted for no bread, a girl is watching her carbs. Lettuce, tomato and homemade tarter sauce garnish this sea monster sandwich. I added cheddar to mine and every bite was better than the last. It came with a load of fresh cut fries and cole slaw. Yes this is definitely the best fish sandwich I have ever had. Drops mic and walks away. The Famous has lunch specials everyday from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm and this bad boy is on the lunch menu. I happened to drop in during lunch and got all this yummy goodness for $9! You can't beat that with a stick. So if you want a wallet friendly meal that will feel you up come to The Famous! read more

It was a good sports bar to watch the ND/OSU games on Saturday. We got there at 7:15 and it was crowded but were sat no issue, then it cleared out a lot. Saturday $0.75 wings and $2 domestics which was great for staying 4 hours for the game. Hours seem odd closing at 10, but we were able to stay til the end of the game which was appreciated! My wife and I are in the process of moving to the area and decided to try our first local spot, this did not disappoint in any way! The local beer was a very well crafted IPA and the lunch special fish sandwich was perfectly cooked and came out quickly. The coleslaw is very unique with a hint of spice, the tartar sauce had to be home made, best tartar sauce I've ever had. The rustic vibe and friendly staff made for a great lunch and one of our new favorite spots that we will definitely be returning to. First, to give credit where it's due, I have to give a huge shout out to Elizabeth Ann who rules behind the bar. She is so friendly and always makes great suggestions for cocktails, beer, and meals. She's an absolute delight and a major reason why we keep going back to The Famous Restaurant. On the flip side, I've been a huge fan of The Famous Restaurant's fish and chips since I first tried it, but the past couple times I've ordered it, it hasn't been nearly as good. Tonight, we ordered it for takeout, and it was so incredibly greasy it was inedible, and the flavor was "off"--tasted more like cod than haddock. I truly hope this trend will turn around and the great fish I've been accustomed to will be back. read more

Never got to taste the food. Could not get seated. Sunday evening, there was plenty guests , so I was somewhat excited to try this place. Sign says wait to be seated. I along with 3 other parties were waiting. After 5-7 minutes a young lady comes up to the front and escorts one party to a table. After several minutes she comes back and tells me it's gonna be a bit because not only is she the hostess but she's bussing tables as well. Poor management! I don't understand how this place maintains 4 stars. It's just a typical greasy low end American comfort food joint. We had late lunch here. My wife had a turkey sandwich that was all bread and gave her a stomach ache. I had the fish and chips which was a huge disappointment. 1 piece of greasy fish and some cold fries with a tablespoon of coleslaw. What a joke. I left hungry. Service was inattentive. In town for my daughters soccer tournament and we picked this place based the reviews. We were not disappointed. I had the Left Coast chicken sandwich and cannot say enough good things about it. The chicken was grilled perfectly and the toppings were very flavorful including the BBQ sauce! My daughter had the same thing except without all the toppings and she liked the chicken too, her friend was very happy with her cheeseburger although could only eat about half of it. We had French fries and tater tots for our sides ( I know, not the healthiest options) and they were delicious too. We sat outside and the service was prompt and friendly. This place is owned by the same family as DoubleDay's and also apparently the Golden Nugget Pancake House. I got an awesome naked boneless chicken salad which was a pretty big portion. We also got onion rings which were bomb. This place used to be an Irish pub, but I like the vibe here now. Similar to Double Days but a bit more casual and bar scene. The Famous Restaurant should be more famous than it appears to be. Maybe it was slow because it's Monday, but we walked in and sat right down. I ordered 10 traditional wings while my wife ordered the boneless chicken salad. The menu suggested I order the sauce on the side and I'm sure glad I did. Even naked the wings were fantastic, seasoned well and the grilled before being fried. I had the chipotle bbq and spicy garlic sauce to dip them in, both very good but the spicy garlic was my favorite. Their ranch was also a nice compliment when I needed a cool down. Both were delicious, the flavor was definitely there, well priced, but could stand a little extra care with preparation techniques. It felt a little thrown together if you will.
