You don't have to be vegan to like this restaurant. The food is great and the staff is friendly and helpful. I try to get there at least once a week to get takeout for my wife and me. But they have a lot of fun items, so sometimes I get food for more than one day. I really like their Cuban sandwich, so I get that a lot. But I've tried a number of their other options and they're also quite good. There's usually a weekly special that's fun. And, though I can't eat sugar myself, I have it on good authority that the whoopie pies are excellent. While full-time veganism can be a lot of work and some people think of it as a form of deprivation, part-time veganism still reduces the world's stress on animal products, is climate-friendly, and has a lot of health benefits. So don't feel like you have to subscribe to a religion to enjoy yourself. For example, I try to keep my cholesterol down, and vegan food automatically checks that list. No cholesterol in anything. So when they have something that is cheeseburger-like, it obviously isn't going to be made of actual beef and cheese. Still, I find it "good enough" taste-wise and I like not having to feel guilty that I'm off diet when I'm enjoying my food. An underappreciated aspect of such a restaurant is that its know their ingredients and don't think it's at all odd for you to ask about them. So if you've got food sensitivities of any kind and tire of feeling like a burden for asking, just that part alone may help you feel relaxed and among your own. Always great food and we returned to a couple of our favorites for lunch today: onion veggie burger and rubes(Rueben sandwich, vegan style) Both reminded us that it has been too long since we dined at Skip's The Farm Cafe!! We finished our meal with sweet potato blonder as a sweet treat. Their new patio is great relaxing space just outside the restaurant doors. I visited the Farm Cafe for the first time yesterday and was very impressed. It is located in the corner of a bookstore. The cafe is set up in an L-shape. You order at the counter and they bring food to your table. The Farm Cafe specializes in healthy, vegan food. I personally am not vegetarian or vegan, but I thought the menu items that my girlfriend had were quite good. The best way I can describe it is very wholesome. Cute little cafe inside a book shop, this place was unassuming but packed a big surprise. The food was amazing. My partner and I ordered the vegan poutine special and vegan Reuben sandwich, which both came with Home made "cheese sauce" and they were especially tasty! There's a lot of options for vegans and/gluten-free folks as well as a variety of good cold and hot drinks. Meat eaters will not be disappointed in their non-meat takes on traditional dishes (e.g., the "Rubes" is their Rueben with organic grilled tempeh and vegan dressing instead of corned beef and Russian). I got the Veggie of the Sea, the Farm Cafe's version of a tuna melt. Bread could not have been more perfectly toasted. Vegan review: We were on a motorcycle trip via back roads from Lake George to Cape Cod, decided to grab lunch in Keene along the way. When we pulled up vegan on yelp, a country life popped up. I hadn't seen a country life in years but sadly it wasn't open that day. So we looked at other place with great reviews. This little spot is tucked in the corner of a book store. It's a strange little set up and reminds of what veggie restaurants were like 10-15 years ago. Based on the suggestion of Amy (who I guess is one of the owners), I got the Rueben. Now, there is NOTHING healthy about this thing, it was just carbs, oil and fake cheese, but it was damn good. And it warmed me up which I needed that day. My friend got the quesadilla, which he liked. I also got a truffle and the peanut butter chocolate oat 'cookie'. The truffle was dry and kind of sucked, just skip it but the cookie, that cookie was GREAT! I should have bought 10 more. If you're passing through, definitely check this place out. There's something special about this eclectic cafe stowed in a little nook of Keene's own Toadstool Bookshop. The best feeling I get when eating here is welcomed. The staff are so kind, there are "lgbt safe space" posters on the wall, and there are options for everyone; vegetarians, vegans, and more alike. I could dine here with every one of my friends and they would all feel just at home, no matter their background or dietary habits. As a vegan living in the backwoods of New Hampshire, it can be hard out here eating out. So coming to places like the Farm Cafe, where the whole menu is vegan, makes me want to cry with happiness. I was so excited to try this place out, and it also made me really happy to see that so much on their menu was organic and/or locally sourced; not only that, most of their packaging is compostable. I always love to see places that clearly value taking care of the environment so much. So, I was excited about this place before I even tried my food. :) That being said, the food was great -- I had the buff-a-flower power wrap, which was excellent, and a pumpkin pie shake, which was decadent. I truly cannot explain how happy this shake made my pumpkin spice-loving heart. I also grabbed a vanilla maple cupcake to go, which I have since ferally consumed as a late-night snack. I like real spicy food so I ordered Bill's Barn Burner ($6.00) This is grilled cheese sandwich made with Cabot Sharp Cheese & Fresh Organic Jalapeños on Sourdough. It didn't disappoint. The Farm truck was at the Green River Music Festival and I tried their Orchard Melt sandwich (apple slices, cheddar, honey and crushed pretzels on grilled cinnamon raisin bread). It was one of the most delicious sandwiches I've ever had. Service was friendly, prices were good and the food was delish! There was a long line for good reason! I moved to southern VT a little over a year ago and just found this place recently. This cafe has the best vegan options in the southern VT/NH area that I have found so far. The cafe is tucked in the corner of the bookstore but has a good amount of seating and food to go. Definitely worth stopping by if you are in or around the keene area. This was my favorite food truck at the horse shows. I went every day! I was so happy to see they got a permanent spot in Toadstool! Their Orchard melt and Old Macdonald are my absolute favorites but the bowls are also amazing! I always try to recreate the meals at home but fail miserably! Top notch lunch spot. My husband and I were driving from Maine to NY taking the scenic route through NH/VT and started looking up places somewhat along the route to stop for a quick but healthy/tasty lunch option. Saw the succession of five star reviews here and knew it had to be something special. About 6 mins off the main highway, parking was easy and service was friendly and quick from Amy. I asked her for recommendations, and she said her favorite thing is the quesadillas, actually named Amy's Quesadilla's after her, but people also go crazy for the poutine and burgers. The quesadilla description sounded delicious so I went with it, and it tasted even better than expected. They were jam packed with flavor and the tortilla has the perfect crisp to go along with the perfect combination of veggie burger, veggies, and cheese inside. It was better than any quesadilla I've ever ordered out. Definitely not an ordinary choice with the creative sauce as well. My husband ordered the Green Monster Quinoa bowl, which he enjoyed as well. The beans did have a very smoky taste so if you like smoky this is for you. We would not hesitate to come back again when passing through. I wish there were more places like Farm Concessions! Just went here for the first time today and it was nothing short of amazing. The service was fast and friendly, the owners make you feel like a friend rather than a customer. I tried the blueberry fields sandwich which had blueberry basil shallot compote and provolone on grilled sourdough bread. Absolutely the best vegetarian food truck in the northeast. If you are in Keene, NH or at a festival and you come across this gem. You will have also discovered a friendly guy, maybe his wife, who are dedicated to giving you the most pleasant visit possible. The prices are fair. If you look at the menu, Each selection is carefully prepared with organic ingredients and might I add very delicious. My most personal favorite is Amy's Quesadilla. A delicious handcrafted quinoa and black bean burger dressed with Cabot seriously sharp cheddar, sauteed onions and mushrooms, sun-dried tomato veganaise, organic ketchup and topped with mixed greens on a grilled wheat tortilla. Every bite is as savory as the last, until sadly you are finished, and you feel the need to visit the farm over and over again. I recommend trying whatever your heart desires. Most items on their menu are vegetarian but there are a few vegan selections as well. I would recommend this place to anyone read more
