Worked for hours Saturday on Pumpkin Fest displays, decided I was done for the day and not going to cook. Called in for a deluxe pizza and breadsticks, the girl on the phone was a joy to speak with, she took the order, double checked, gave us our time of 26 minutes and said goodbye. We went to pick up our order, my husband was in and out toot sweet. Got home and opened the boxes and the food was amazing. So good. My husband said that there were three girls working and everyone looked happy. I guess everything went well, and I had pizza for breakfast. read more

Called in order for lunch pickup. No online ordering option. Pay at pickup. Parking lot was packed. Food was ready at the front. The cup of Chicken Rice soup wasn't what I expected - look and size, but it was perfect for a cold day. My preconceived thought of a Club Sandwich has toasted bread, cut into quarters. The staff is so kind and welcoming. My first impression was how clean it looked and felt. The prices were acceptable for most seniors that love going out and expect quantity for their dollar. Two separate tables near me were splitting dinners. I will own this experience. My perception of this establishment was a little skewed. I had it in my head this was a farm to table experience. THE FARMHOUSE - Local, Fresh, Delicious. No pricing, which further convinced me that it's normal when you're sourcing from local farmers to have price fluctuations. I did not do any further research and continued on. The menu handed to me had a large content of dishes with no theme. That should have grabbed my attention. It didn't. I ordered the smothered meatloaf, with mashed potatoes, broccoli, and extra side of coleslaw. Nothing had flavor. Not even the Swiss cheese. The coleslaw was from a tub. It had that gel slippery texture that is loaded with preservatives. The broccoli was fresh, but it had a strange sour taste. I'm not sure what exactly is made from scratch, but the pulled pork comes from Gordon's. That was confirmed when asked if it was made fresh here, or is it Gordon's. The carrot cake was good and that is made in-house. This review is not intended to ruin a local favorite for many in the senior community. My intention is to bring to attention that this is not farm to table, and the format of the website is similar to The Farmhouse Deli in Douglas, which is founded on locally sourced ingredients and freshly made food. The staff and cleanliness deserves 5 stars. My meal was 1 star. I didn't bring the leftovers for lunch. I don't want it again. read more

The overall ambiance of the restaurant was great. A nice spot for old folks and families to get some good affordable food. I did however have a couple of things that put a damper on my experience. For one, my husband ordered his burger to be a double (as in 2 patties) and the waitress seemed like she had written that part down, but when we received the meal, it was only a single patty. Another thing that I really disliked was that one of the employees started vacuuming during the middle of our meal. I understand that this restaurant closes at 8pm, but it was about 6pm when we were dining. I don't think that employees should be creating an unsettling noisy atmosphere when they aren't even close to closing. It just made me and my husband feel sort of rushed to get out, when that is the opposite of what a restaurant should do. read more

The breakfast I had, was 3 scrambled eggs, bacon, hash brown potatoes and cinnamon toast with homemade strawberry jam. The food was ample portions and tasty. The 'scrambled' eggs as often is the case are just a chopped bunch of flatop grilled eggs. That's not really not scrambled eggs, their chopped up eggs. The bacon was a bit chewy. Hash brown potatoes were crispy and tasty. The toast was good. The most outstanding thing for me, was the homemade strawberry jamb! The wait time was longer than anticipated. However the restaurant was quite busy at 9:45 on Friday morning. The wait staff was kind and polite. The ambiance was very nice. New and fresh remodel. It was a nice dinning experience with good but not outstanding food. I recommend it for a nice average or a bit above that breakfast. read more

A very nice simple and rustic atmosphere, with a warm inviting feeling! I ordered the Sloppy Joe sandwich with fries and since I know sloppy joes aren't usually the most filling I also ordered a side salad. The side salad was actually quite large and had different types of greens. Very simply it was an excellent salad. The Sloppy Joe was Outstanding, easily the 2nd best I've ever had. The 1st was my friends mom's, so not available, lol. The fries had a great texture and were very good. The person I was with got the Blueberry Feta Salad. It was very large and pretty. It had lots of blueberries and pecans. It was stated to be wonderful! The portion sizes for the most part was very generous and fairly priced. The service was very friendly and efficient. The food cane out shockingly quickly, though they weren't busy at about 2pm. Overall an easy 5 stars. We will be back. We both stated it needed to go on our repeat list. You guys. I have joined the ranks of people who eat miniature meals so to speak so my review game has been weak. Today I was so excited to try the Farmhouse for my first time! I went with my amazing in laws for a nice late lunch at 12:45 to avoid the rush. We were greeted by a server who acted like she didn't want to be there. I know, I'm a pro. I'm not only a nurse but I still pick up some server shifts when I feel like adding to my bank account. Any how, she was fine. I wouldn't say kind, but she brought us food. I did hear her snap at a different server about how there's two tables waiting and how she can't go home yet. If this is the owner, shame on you. I had every intention of getting a patty melt with no bang bang sauce, eating a little and taking it home. The server said they had chili and that's what I got instead! So food came out hot. The fam all got a fish dinner of sorts. I can't have fried anything so I didn't get to taste theirs. My chili was hot. Here is where it gets tricky. Either I have Covid and lack of taste is my only symptom, or these guys don't season their food. Now I've said before that this is the whitest area I've ever lived in and I don't know if anyone has ever taught y'all how to season your food, but please. Please take yourselves down to the Carolinas. GA. AL. TX. AZ. All of these places have one thing in common. Seasoning. And people of the non light beige persuasion. That's probably why. If you don't have 30 different herbs, spices, and seasonings in your pantry at all times then I just don't know, but my chili had exactly zero in it. TL;DR - the onion rings were delicious, as were the potato kegs. Maybe that's because we were hungry. The pizza was pretty bad, and the service was almost intolerable. I get that it's busy and you're short-staffed, but you can't expect someone to want to eat at your establishment, let alone leave a tip based on this experience. We won't be coming back, and would recommend to others to avoid this place as well. I hate that nearly every time I've gone out to eat recently it's been a poor experience. We came into Holland for the Tulip Festival this past Saturday and on our way home, stopped into The Farmhouse with my parents for lunch. We arrived around 1:10PM and got seated pretty quickly, with two tables ahead of us. Our server came by and we put in a drink order, which came out near instantaneously. We all looked at our menus and came up with decisions on what to order, but our server never came back. By 1:30PM, I had to stop her on her way to another table and ask if we could put our food order in. So, we put in for some appetizers, along with our entrees, and proceed to settle in. 1:45PM - Our appetizers get delivered. The server doesn't have the cheese for our potato kegs and asks if we still wanted it. I say yes, and she lets me know that it's still being prepared, but it should be right out, but we never see it until later. They inform my dad that his Reuben sandwich bread (Marbled Rye) is unavailable so they give him some other options and he ultimately chooses a different bread. 1:50PM I can see a pizza sitting under the heatlamp, and I'm pretty sure it's mine. This heatlamp is right at the plating window from the kitchen, so although they put it to the side, everyone else is getting their food from this window, reaching around it, etc. One thing to keep in mind is that the other 3 people all ordered sandwiches of some sort. Not sure how my pizza came up first, but that's poor planning on the kitchen's part. 2:10PM - Our food finally gets delivered, 40 or so minutes after putting it in. Somehow, "no cheese" gets put into the system as "no swiss" on my wife's club, so it still comes out with American cheese. We send it back, since she doesn't eat cheese. The server gets right on it, and that remade sandwich is done in 2-3 minutes. When she comes back, we ask her to get refills on the two sodas that have been sitting at the edge of the table along with this cheese that was supposed to come out. The refills and the cheese arrive. Everyone's eating, the food looked pretty good, with the exception of my pizza. Maybe it's the mental part where I saw it sit for as long as it did, but the crust was trash, it didn't have much sauce on it so it was dry, and it was super salty. 2:30PM - We eat, finish up, and ask for a receipt and boxes. I also ask for a solo cup for the leftover cheese and I'm given a 20 oz. Styrofoam cup. I guess if that's all you have, I'll make it work, but just one more thing that made the interaction feel odd. I go and pay for the check - the other person working rings me up and asks how everything was, and I respond with "meh". No indication of concern, just "you can stick your card in, it's going to ask you a question...". A lady waiting overhears our interaction and proceeds to ask to be taken off the list, and her and her family would go somewhere else. Felt like a small win, all things considered. I ask for change so I can tip in cash vs. on the card, and she proceeds to provide some smaller bills. 2:35PM - We're packed up and I use the restroom before heading out. A little dirty, but I've certainly seen much worse. I leave a tip, and we're on our way. I won't be back again, and not that my opinion matters, but I'll be sure to tell people to avoid this place in the future. read more

I stopped in for an early lunch while working and discovered only breakfast is served until 11. Since I'm not usually a breakfast fan, I had to find something that sounded decent and settled on the waffles. They were more than decent, they were yummy. The strawberry topping was fresh strawberries in glaze, which was way better than any strawberry syrup or pre-made product they could offer. The waffles themselves were fresh and sweet as well and tasted great with the strawberries. I also had an excellent glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. My total came to less than 15 dollars with tax and tip, so it was an ok price. The initial wait and seating process was a little hectic, but the food was worth it. I would complain that the portion size was on the small side but after tasting the food, smaller portions may be a blessing. Our group of four was taken to a small square table, where I sat near the path of foot traffic. To be fair, there were booths available, but we needed space for a wheelchair. With few exceptions, the customers were people older than me (and I'm 70). Most items on the menu were $10 and higher. (I knew some of the prices already because I'd looked at the web site menu.) The food arrived in due time. The portions were small and tasteless. I mean, the taste wasn't bad ... there was just NO taste. Their special Boom Boom sauce (Cheez-Whiz?) helped, but started to skin over within minutes. Why was the place so popular? Maybe they know their clientele, people who want to eat early, who like bland food, and don't mind paying more than it's worth. This is a one-time only for me. My fiancé and I decided to drive out 45 minutes JUST to go here again, since we had such a wonderful experience the first time, and we are so pleased! Our server even remembered our preferences, and brought the same type of hot sauce I asked for during our last visit! There were two of us nobody greeted us right away in fact they acted like we were interrupting. We ordered the cheeseburger with fries and a wet burrito. The cheeseburger was so "thin" and it was a frozen patty and it came with nothing on it, even the ketchup bottle at the table was empty (horrible). The wet burrito was no better! It came loaded with rice and beans and I barely got one bite of ground beef out of the whole thing! So the wet burrito I could do with out also because I wasnt expecting 90 percent rice "yuck." Live near here and use to come here when it was Jay's. I haven't really been here since but thought we would try it. Our waitress Melissa was wonderful and is the main reason I gave 3 stars. She kept up on our drinks and checked in with us nearly every time she walked past. The food was ok. The spinach artichoke dip was not the topical dip you expect and many of our chips where just crumbs. The onion rings were a bit dark but was probably the best thing I ate. My chicken wrap with boom boom sauce had very little sauce and I had to really look to make sure it was on my wrap. It didn't have a lot of flavor and didn't come with any side. I am glad we got the starters or I wouldn't have been full after the meal. I most likely won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

I have passed by this place many times so decided to stop in tonight for dinner. When I walked in I had high hopes that maybe I found a quite local family place with great food, well not so much :( The apperence on the outside is nothing much, but inside is cute, clean and a decent size. Our server (couldn't see her name, tags are too small & she never said what it was) was VERY FRIENDLY. 5 Stars for her!! We ordered a burrito, kids chicken fingers & kids cheeseburger, with water to drink. Order total came to $18.31 (w/o tax). Then the food came out.... I was very surprised at how SMALL the kids chicken strips were (I have never seen such small food), the peaches were bigger then the chicken strips!! You got 2 and a bowl of peach halves. (needless to say my child was still starving after finishing it). My other child's Kids Cheeseburger was over cooked, dry & small. I asked if the applesauce had any chunks in it (before we ordered it) and she said no, but it did (my child has texture issues, so didn't eat it). My burrito was an alright size. The meat was dry & bland (tasted like there was no seasoning), barley any red sauce, the salsa was not homemade (from a jar). My kids ate about half of my burrito because they were so hungry from their tiny kids meals!!! I guess the thing that bothers me the most is that they have a HUGE sign & their menus that say... Local, Fresh, Delicious. I would say not so fresh, not so local (unless you count GFS local) and not so delicious, I feel like it is false advertising. :( Sorry. My wife and I had breakfast there this morning. We stopped in yesterday to see if we could take our small dog along for breakfast outside in the parking lot. They said yes come back. We came back and we asked again before they seated us about the dog. They said yes and brought us to our table outside. We spent about $40 with tip. After the bill was paid the manager came out and said very loudly dogs are not allowed outside and said don't come back with the dog. I sure felt the Zeal.
