The entrance is confusing. When I entered there was a unmanned desk and 2 rooms with no IDing signs. However it turns out the room on the right is an event space and the one on the left is the restaurant. There is a train motif to the place with train names on all the booths. Overall the place has a very warm feeling to it. I ordered the Apple Bourbon Pork Ribeye ($17). The Pork Ribeye itself is very good. However the bourbon sauce itself is fantastic and not overly sweet. The apple topping is the perfect accoutrement. The salad and mashed potatoes I got as sides were both excellent. The person I was with got the same thing and also thought it was fantastic. The Service was indifferent. The employees were efficient, they just didn't seem to care. Overall a very solid 4 star review. Would I return? Absolutely. I'd love to try other things or to get the Ribeye again. read more

Wow!!! What a great find .... Small town business with class !!! Very clean surroundings My Patty melt was delicious and cooked as ordered,the fries were hot and fresh ,,, oh they were steak fries I didn't get the young waitress's name but she was friendly and provided great service. The ambience well.... Old train station (The Trestle) was very well done , I read most of the backs of the booths which all had train names. Cathy the owner was friendly and we talked a bit. Stumbled upon The Trestle Stop after the place I had planned on having breakfast at was closed. There aren't too many other places to eat in Hamilton, so I ended up here. Half the building is an event space and it looks like the restaurant part might be/have been one too. They had a breakfast buffet that was just a small table with a few things on it. Seeing that before being seated I almost left. Once seated, the menu looked much more appealing than the buffet. I ordered a coffee and the corned beef and hash breakfast. Points for bringing out a coffee pot for me to self-refill my cup. Also, points for the quick turn around on my order. My meal was much more than I expected.. potatoes on the bottom layer with corned beef piled on along with eggs. Not only was everything cooked perfectly.. the total bill was $13. Not bad for a portion size that was so big I couldn't finish it! read more

Came here from a biking trip. No spot on the front of the building to park your bike but on the back they have a patio and a fence you can lean your bike on. Service was quick and fast. They brought a pitcher of water so we don't have to worry about having it to empty. I ordered the trustle burger and my wife ordered the Cobb salad. Both of them tasted excellent. read more

Before COVID my husband and I felt this place was just "MEH" and decided to give it another try when a neighboring restaurant we frequent was closed yesterday. Laura was our server and was very pleasant and welcoming. I told her to decide between two entrees I was pondering - chicken caesar and patty melt. She chose the patty melt for me and it was delish. We went back today and got Laura again. It was like winning the lottery. We are on a special eating plan for my husband's diabetes and rarely eat out because it deviates from our clean eating habits. I got lost ! So what! Found this neat locomotive theme restaurant with all the right foods. We tried there BLT and the julienne salad the people across devoured the Alaskan cod and perch which they said was super. So if your on your way to holland check this place out! We used The Trestle Stop for our wedding. The food was ok but we were disappointed with the overall order. We ordered a buffet style for 50 people and only 35 showed up. We provided all the serving dishes, chaffing dishes, serving utensils and even had to provide the fuel burners for the buffet. We did not receive any drinks from them, yet we did not receive any price discount they still charged for the full 50 ppl and they took all of the remaining food back (which was never told to us until after the fact). As the bride and groom we did not get to eat much and was not even allowed to get a plate or 2 of left overs. I will surely look elsewhere for my future catering. Be sure to get everything in writing before cutting a check. read more

Ordered the 1/2 chicken dinner for lunch. Two thighs, a wing, and a breast. The wing was on the small side. Thighs were ok. The breast was also on the small side and it was over cooked, dried out and so chewy, that I had to spit the first bite out because no matter how much I chewed, it would not break apart. Pretty disgusting. Second bite was the same way. It was like chewing rubber. Did not like the breading or coating on the chicken either. The taste was not satisfying what so ever. Red potatoes and apple sauce were good though. Service was good . I mentioned it to the cashier and she discounted my meal. If you're Hungary for fried chicken, go somewhere else. read more

Great little place. Been for breakfast, ordered an omelet, and everything was fresh, I could tell. I've been to some places where that was obviously not the case. Prices are good, cannot beat them. The service is always pretty good; they keep up on refilling drinks and checking back on tables. The one area for improvement is the time it takes to greet tables, as they first walk in. This place is absolutely horrible. I've eaten here four different times, all four times I've ordered something different. The food tastes pre manufactured and microwaved, like a TV dinner. The biscuits and gravy tastes exactly like the pre-made canned stuff you can buy at Walmart. The service is also the absolute worst as far as wait staff goes. I don't know if they're under staffed or what. Waitress brought my food and never came back. I ended up not finishing my meal because I was to thirsty to continue eating. Picked up two pizza's they were both extremely over cooked and really expensive for what we received; we will never go back. Their service was slow and unfriendly. They rang me up for my pizza, then brought them out without announcing who they were for. They then left my pizzas sitting on the counter and proceeded to wait on everyone else. Our daughter had her wedding reception at The Trestle Stop on September 6, 2014 and our experience with The Trestle Stop could not have been better. We were able to have access to the banquet room the day before so majority of the decorating as done then. We had family style, so everyone was served at the same time, food was hot and delicious. We had a lot of compliments even weeks after the wedding. We had 160 guests and had plenty of room for seating, the dance floor, dessert table, wall of lights for a very affordable price. We also had plenty of room for a DJ and photo booth. Everyone also enjoyed the bar. We have attended three other wedding receptions at The Trestle Stop and enjoyed each one. read more

We went back for dinner and I got the special which was beer battered cod and my nephew got the NY Strip. We placed our order and I got my salad which was wilted a little. What was really out of sorts was from the time we placed our order till we got our food was a half hour. The waitress finally came back and asked if we wanted another beer but I asked how much longer and got a deer in the headlights look but she said would check. Six minutes later we got served. Nephew's steak was well done on edges as ordered but medium rare in middle. My Cod was somewhat greasy and one of my red potatoes was raw. When the in attentive waitress finally came back I told her about the potato and got the same look and she asked if I wanted another. I used to stop in here frequently years ago and found myself in the area today so I was excited to go there again since I'd always enjoyed their food and service in the past. After checking the menu I was disappointed to see they no longer offered the barbeque chicken pizza that I used to enjoy so much. I asked the lady taking my take out order and she checked with the cook and was told they could make one for me. It's a weird combination of items to order but I ended up ordering a barbeque chicken pizza, a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie and 4 dinner rolls. The pizza was good and the only thing I can fault it on is that the crust itself was pretty bland tasting, but I'm not a huge fan of pizza crust so for others who knows maybe it will be wonderful. The strawberry rhubarb pie was good, but nothing to really get me excited. The best item I ordered was the dinner rolls. I remembered them as being very good and sure enough they lived up to my memory of being sweet and yeasty so I was thrilled with them. Where this restaurant did excellent was in the service area. Both of the ladies that served me on my take out order were friendly and helpful and ensured my order was complete when it was given to me. I feel kind of bad only giving this restaurant 3 stars since in the past I would have definitely given it 4 or 5 stars but 3 stars according to this site is A-OK and that pretty well describes my experience today. Went to Trestle stop on Sat. The 27th. I've had good food in the past but this wasn't quite so good. On the special board it said fried chicken with seconds on them, well it better be because when you order it for 11 bucks you ONLY get 2 pcs. Now the break down, salad, very good. Ordered fries and roll with mine, roll, very heavy and grainy, had better, fries, not to hot, just warm & not crisp, like they were sitting for awhile. Waitress did not ask if we could have white or dark meat, so I did not know what to expect. Got white, breast meat, dry, very dry, DONT LIKE BREAST MEAT Because of this! The drum was dry also and both pcs. small. When hostess brought seconds, it was a thigh and a little better tasting and just a little juicy but small also. All 3 pcs were really small. The fried chicken dinner was not worth the price. Waitress was EXCELLENT! it was the food that needed help. Over all food was a one star, service a 5. Will be back, but, I will give a restaurant 3 tries, if no good after 3 times, never be back, they just lost 1 of 3 times for me. read more
