Long. Later, it dawned on me that it might actually have been a previous hotel guest who was pinging their lost device (not AirPods because this sounded different but similar). I couldn't find the device anywhere, so I think it was outside of my room. I suspect they were European tourists because it would only happen between like midnight and 3 AM every night. The TV also wasn't working. The staff came up and fixed the Live TV feature quickly. But I still couldn't stream anything to it from Netflix on my smartphone. A Google search returned many reviews that this is an issue across all IHG hotels though. You have to connect with a HDMI cable, as the streaming feature does not work. The location near the train station was super convenient. The major positive for this hotel is that the staff was really friendly, both at the front desk and the restaurant. They were quick to respond and attempt to fix things, plus moved me to another room once one became available as I was staying here for 5 nights. They also gave me IHG points in apology for the inconveniences. It is only because of these reasons that I will consider staying at this hotel again. Oh and the breakfast sandwich here was great, too!

No matter who I speak with, they are always friendly, helpful, and go above and beyond! As others mentioned, the elevators are a mess. I always request a low floor so I can take the stairs, but the view on the high floors are spectacular. The rooms are small, but that is typical for NYC. Overall, this is often the best price for a basic, quality hotel in a good location in the city.

But every time we tried to get the elevator it took 15+ minutes. There are four elevator banks and I think only two were ever working. We stayed on the 20th floor and had to take the stairs down three times during our stay because we had been waiting at the elevator forever. Not just that the elevator didn't come for at least 15 minutes but when it finally did arrive, it was usually packed to the brim with angry guests and you had to wait for the next one. We even had to take our suitcases down the stairs the day we checked out because our airport pickup was waiting. The elevator wasn't as bad in non-morning hours but it was a huge inconvenience for any time we didn't try to leave before peak breakfast time. Elevator issues aside, housekeeping was extremely poor. One day they didn't come until 5pm after we had returned from a full day out so we just skipped service that day. When they did come, they frequently forgot to replenish items like coffee cups, towels, toilet paper, etc. The free hot breakfast food was atrocious, except for the steel cut oatmeal. Never again.

I especially enjoyed a full size deep soaking tub and the constant hot water and supplies. I must say I was disappointed in the Japanese restaurant on the roof, which is trendy does not have very comfortable seating in spite of a real attempt. We moved up to the roof because the man restaurant who's entirely too noisy to have any conversation at all.And is much cooler during a very hot week. They have an amazing braised beef/ miso soup, but I much preferred the sushi on the same street at another Japanese restaurant. This hotel is located in one of the most prime areas in Manhattan with the Jazz Mall drectly across the street, which has something for everyone from H&M to Hugo Boss, one of the best Whole Foods I have ever been in. It's extremely dark when you get in so it takes a second for your eyes to adjust. Room was in the smaller side and the AC unit was extremely loud. Like then up the volume on your alarm to the highest volume because I slept through mine a couple times (luckily it was a personal trip!) Loved the Bigelow bath products in the bathroom and the shower pressure was strong. Starbucks and Broad Nosh Bagels next door!

The amenities were above what you would get elsewhere. The room was quiet even though we were overlooking a busy street. Loved that the hotel was located so close to Bryant Park. The service here has always been good but unfortunately it was slower this time around and at times staff seemed distracted. I know they were trying a new online system and that may have contributed. Still it's our go to when we are in the city.
