I've had so many stays in new york over the last 15 years and this is by far one of my favorites in the price range. The area is great and easy to get around, super quiet at night for new york as well. The lobby is extremely humble but don't let that fool you, the rooms are perfect. The Artezen Hotel is a boutique hotel in Downtown Manhattan, not far from the Brooklyn Bridge, and conveniently located near Downtown Brooklyn. Overall, I had a good stay, but there were some pros and cons. Pros: * Good location with restaurants and things to do within walking distance. * Cozy rooms, although they are on the smaller side (that's part of the boutique hotel experience). * Professional staff. * Clean rooms (although I did notice hair in the tub, but I'll get back to that later). * Quiet floors. Cons: * The security deposit is higher compared to other hotels ($200). However, you can pay it in cash and receive it back at checkout as long as everything is fine with the room. * This doesn't matter much to me, but I'll mention it: a staff member did assist with getting my bags upon arrival via car. However, the bags were only brought to the lobby and not taken up to my room. When I stayed at The Langham, Fifth Avenue, they brought my bags inside and delivered them to my room. * The gentleman stationed at the podium (I'm assuming for assisting guests with the door) did not open the door when I was leaving with my bags because he was conversing with the front desk. I was just unsure whether this was something they normally do or only do sometimes, because someone did open the door for me when I returned from dinner. This isn't a major issue, but since this is a 4-star hotel, I'm comparing the experience to the 5-star hotel I previously stayed at due to the similarities. * I found a clump of hair on the side of the shower pan. However, I sanitize and clean the bathroom area along with the room of every hotel I stay in, so that's how I noticed it. Overall, I had a good stay. I was told the VIP rooftop is closed on Sundays, so they offered complimentary wine instead, which was a nice gesture. A WHOA for a four night stay here! Close to all subway lines and stations and within walking distances to restaurants and plenty to sight-see! The bed and pillows were very comfortable in its rather large room with great amenities! The staff is very friendly and Stephanie was delightful! I had a lot of requests and was never made to feel like too much. I appreciated that. The amenities are perfect as I wanted for nothing. Most of all I appreciated the bed. Above average boutique hotel in the downtown area. Was here for a night since a work event got too late. The Pros: - Fairly decent location, especially if you're here for a business trip in the area - Very friendly/professional staff - Easy check in/check out process that was fairly quick - Very clean bathroom with good shower head - Bed was excellent and very comfortable - Reasonably quiet, at least quiet enough to get a decent night's sleep - Free water/chips was a nice touch The Cons: - Tiny room that was basically a bed with a little walking space. Small bathroom too - Climate control was kind of nuts. It's either freezing or stuffy. - Water in the AM was not very hot The location and overall comfortable sleep was worth the price of staying. This isn't the Millennium nearby, but you're also not paying Millennium prices so there's that. The Artezan was an all-around wonderful hotel experience, and the room was the definition of well appointed. Everything was clean, the location was great and felt safe. I would absolutely stay here again next time I am in NYC. I am the kind of person who uses a hotel for sleeping and showering. I want to spend the rest of my time exploring. I have no need for breakfasts, views, or fancy amenities. CONCIERGE: Other than a few recommendations, I didn't use the concierge service, but Carmelo was nonetheless awesome, very friendly, welcoming, and positive! LOCATION: This hotel is in the Financial District. While not in midtown, the location was excellent nonetheless. You had more subway lines than I care to remember within a block or two, including PATH. You are also close to Oculus, the World Trade Center, Wall Street/NYSE, and the waterfront on both sides of Manhattan island. SAFETY: It's no Times Square, but the area surrounding is fairly busy. There may be a crazy person yelling profanities on the street corner on occasion, but in a city like NYC, that should almost be expected. At least it won't be just you and said crazy person. To be fair, I was back in the hotel by 11pm on all days, so I can't speak for past midnight, but I think it'll be fine. There is also controlled access - You need the keycard to use the elevator, and you only have access to your floor, or the floors with ice and the gym. NOISE: With me being on the 11th floor, and the busy street right below, the room was still very quiet! The only street noise I heard was a truck horn, once. If you're someone who needs it quiet to get some sleep, the city hustle and bustle are a non-issue. No corridor noise either, I heard a door slam once, and that's it. SLEEP: The absence of noise isn't the only thing that allows for great sleep. There are blackout curtains that cover the entire window (none of that area in the middle the curtain just can't cover!) The bedding was also very comfortable! An issue I did have initially was a lot of slack in the fitted sheet that bunched up. I asked if housekeeping could make sure it's pulled taut, and they were able to do that. The pillow also goes a bit flat, but flipping it over fixes the problem instantly. HOUSEKEEPING: The housekeeping was excellent. Not only were they able to make the sheets tight, but they kept the room (and the bathroom) spotless! Everything was shiny and gleaming. Plus, just coming back to a bed that is made after being on your feet for hours is the best feeling in the world! NICE TOUCHES: Here are some things which made the room well put-together: There were plenty of outlets and usb charge-points in the room and around the bed. You have an alarm clock with bluetooth also. What was really notable though was the heated mirror in the bathroom! You could take a shower as long and steamy as you want, come out, and still be able to see your face to shave! BATHROOM: Pretty nice, and not just the heated fog-free mirror! The shower had ample space and wasn't at all cramped. Water pressure and temperature were all great too. Not to mention the acoustics were perfect for vocalizing the Halo theme. Ask me how I know. The products they offer were also very nice and didn't leave my skin feeling funny like those in more budget hotels. Towels were good quality also. "RESORT FEATURES": There were some additional items included in the resort fee that came with the room. While I didn't make use of the iPad, the Nespresso machine (very cool and good espresso) and Fiji water were nice touches. Would I have paid ~$11 a night given the option? no. But since they're there and paid for, might as well enjoy. HAIR-SPLITTING: The bathroom door is frosted. There is a nightlight within, but if you're traveling with someone and they need the full light while you're sleeping, it may very well wake you. There was also an electrical gremlin my first night (morning?) At 8am (thankfully I was awake by then), the overhead light turned itself on. I brought this to the front desk which said this might have been a glitch, and they offered to turn off the motion sensor, which I asked them to do. No lamps with minds of their own after. read more

The Artezen is a boutique hotel in the Financial District. Prices are reasonable. The hotel was clean and the people here were wonderful. They provided free umbrellas for use on rainy days. It is located close to Fulton station, 9/11 Memorial and the Battery Park. In terms of location it was wonderful. On weekdays, they charge about $280 Cad per night. On weekend the prices here are super expensive (almost doubled). We decided to stay at a different hotel on the weekend due to the price. When I compare the other hotel with this hotel, it is not on the same level. As mentioned, they cleaned the sheets and made the bed every morning. The shampoo, lotion and body wash were topped up everyday. Everything was great here. The Artezen was amazing. The room is small but hey this is NYC. Also note they offer free daily water and free internet for their guests. Also upon staying here you get two free bags of chips per stay. Of course, free coffee. I highly recommend booking early for a better rate and staying here. read more

Excellent, exquisite service. Each time a guest approaches the front door whether entering or exiting, they rush to open the door for you. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. However, that's where the positives end. I'll preface my accounting of our "negatives" by saying this was our first time visiting NYC, so some of our complaints may be things that are common to MY hotels. (1) The room and bathroom were pretty small. Neat and clean, but small, including a bathroom so small they put the valet with the towels and extra toilet paper in a corner next to the sink such that we had to stand to the side of the sink to use it. (2) ZERO amenities. You basically just get a room to sleep in. No pool, hot tub, balcony or terrace to hang out in; no bar or lounge; no vending machines or smallish room with snacks; no continental breakfast; no microwave, coffeemaker or fridge in room. If this is the standard in NYC, or even specifically Manhattan, then great hotel! Otherwise, not our cup of tea and we would not return. read more

Artezen Hotel is conveniently located in the heart of NYC. This is it's finest quality. The staff is exceptionally friendly and courteous, making you feel welcome immediately. The perks included: three Nespresso espressos, free water bottles daily and free chips. The room we had is quite small, probably less than 15 feet across. It did include a lovely little foyer fenced in by tall hedges... because you were surrounded by ugly, tall buildings blocking out all the light. I would consider this a boutique hotel, without all the thrills and frills, but it's an excellent option in lower Manhattan. It's a great location, kind staff (really appreciated all the assistance from concierge and the provision of umbrellas!), quiet, and very clean! I had an amazing time at The Artezen! The customer service here is AMAZING! The staff are extremely nice and attentive and greet you each time you pass the desk. We were waiting for our Uber and a staff member came out and asked if we wanted him to let us know when our ride came so we could go inside and be warm, we declined because our ride was only a minute away but deeply appreciated the kind act. (I wish I remembered the gentlemans name) Although the rooms are small compared to what I am used to , they don't feel small. The room has this scent of like lemongrass and we LOVED it. The bathroom lighting is amazing for the girls who do their makeup. We didn't realize where the ice bucket and steamer were until the day we were checking out but that's okay. This is the perfect hotel to stay at for a quick reset. I slept amazingly! The bed and bedding are super soft. I would definitely return here! They also have a gym and yoga room. YES a yoga room. Not just a corner in the gym. There was an entire room dedicated to yoga. They supplied extra mats in case you left yours. It was so serene. Also, this is the ideal location with so many things around to do. If you want to go to Brooklyn , it is a quick ride across the bridge. Location is conveniantly located by One World Trade/Financial District. There is a Duane reaades and multiple food options by the hotel. The hotel is also right across the street of the Fulton St. Subway Station. The service from the staff was wonderful. They were always attentive and answered any questions about my stay. The room was clean, but basic in amenities. There were Chips, Nespresso Pods, and Fiji Water in the room. This included a tablet which functions as a web browser/ radio. These costs $13.95 extra as part of their daily facility fee. I think its just way to overpriced. The TV in the room was also not working. On 3rd party booking sites it also states that there is breakfast.There kitchen has been closed since the pandemic for an indefinite period. Keep that in mind. If I was a traveling for business and want a no frills experience in the heart of Lower Manhattan, then this hotel is fine to fit that need. I would not recommend this hotel for leisure or tourism. read more

This past spring, I stayed at the Artezen for two days and had an enjoyable experience. Located in the Financial District, this hotel is conveniently near the Fulton Street Station subway stop, making it accessible via many subway lines. I arrived at the Artezen from JFK International Airport via AirTrain/subway, and it was only a short walk to the hotel from the train station. Check-in went smoothly, and overall I found the hotel staff to be friendly and accommodating. I reserved a Petite Queen room, which I thought was sufficient space for one person. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean with a small assortment of toiletries. The hotel was also walking distance to cafes/restaurants and a Walgreens, which I found very convenient. Artezen is a new boutique hotel in Financial District, next to the Fulton train station, One World Tower, and Oculus. It's outside of the busy Time Square and upper Manhattan and yet close to Soho, Little Italy, Chinatown, and Brooklyn, the location was perfect for us. Room had everything, including 3 bottles of water (2Fiji and 1other), 2 bags of chips, and some cookies per day. This is included in the daily $10 per day hotel resort fee which also includes the WiFi and other amenities such as the gym. While there was Duane Reade right in front of the hotel, it was pretty convenient to have water in the room. Room and bathroom were clean. Staff were friendly and always greet you on your way in and out. Typical small hotels, they only had 2 elevators but they were super fast and never a long wait for them. Did think it was weird that there was only one set of slippers, not two, in the room. Make sure you check the alarm as ours went off in the early morning, assuming it was from the previous people who stayed. And oh, a bit freaky but our TV turned on and off by itself in the middle of each night, assuming it was doing some kind of update. As for bedding, I did feel that their sheets were a bit dry that my skin was itchy for a bit but it passed after couple of minutes. Lastly the pillows were super fluffy but when you lay your head on it, it was a bit flat. Overall, was happy with our stay. read more

I can not express how AMAZING this hotel is! It feels like a boutique hotel. Very clean, modern and overall great experience. The STAFF is hands down the nicest! This was our first time staying here and it was nice. The place is clean and has 21 floors so it's pretty big. The room was kinda small but honestly we don't need much for just my husband and I so it was perfect. It was a little darker than I like and the window looks out at another building so it was weird to see other people outside your window. But the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The TV was also a little annoying because you had to change the input and it had 2 remotes. I just found it confusing and would have never gotten it to work without my husband. The staff though were AWESOME! As soon as we walked in the door was held for us and was greeted with a friendly smile and everyone was so polite! This hotel was a great base for exploring the city. It's in the financial district and has a lot of great food around it, as well as a subway station (Fulton) right down the road for convenience. The rooms are definitely cozy, even for nyc standards, but the quality of service and staff makes up for that. We stayed for 8 days and had an excellent experience. Special thanks to all the concierge staff, who was helpful more than once , and to Carmello, for recommending and providing a great ride to JFK which blows Uber out of the water. This hotel was one of the most comfortable and best I have had in New York City. We chose the location because it was near our old apartment. From the outside it doesnt look like much and although well designed the lobby is tiny and not really a place to hang out. The rooms are amazing! The beds are beyond comfortable. The rooms are spotless and well equipped with all you need for a long stay. We stayed there 3 nights and were bummed to have to leave. The shower was fantastic, bathroom clean and well ventilated. We were only on the 5th floor but still had a nice view of John street. The rooms are pretty high tech too with cool buttons you push to indicate privacy or housekeeping needed. The room came with complementary water AND SNACKS! The staff was lovely, saying hello and goodbye each time we saw them. It is a great location if you are looking for a lower Manhattan experience. Just a short walk to the south street seaport and WTC. The subway is just down the block. I would highly recommend this hotel. It checks all the boxes! read more

Loved, loved, LOVED this boutique hotel in downtown! We stayed here for about a week in late-October and it was the best decision we made. Upon arrival, the lobby staff came out immediately as our cab pulled up. John St is a very narrow one-way street and it would have been terrible to block traffic for any longer than it took to take the bags out, pay the driver and jump out. We were offered cold water before we even stepped over to the reception desk. What a lovely gesture. I really needed that. The lobby is small but has plenty of seating and space. 2 elevators with keycard only access. Very secure. It's a nice size hotel - not too big. Only about 5 rooms per floor, total of about 90 rooms. Ours was on the 18th floor and faced the back of the building - which was fine. I loved how quiet the hotel was - absolutely no street noise whatsoever thanks to the double-paned windows. Not even any elevator or hallway noise, come to think of it. With the blackout blinds, we literally overslept the next morning and had no idea what time of day it was! Easy access to the subway entrance just across the street, lots of spots for coffee, pizza, and Zucker's Bagels is just down the street on Fulton. The staff were all so polite and caring. Fresh water every day in our rooms, replenishment of coffee pods, and prompt housekeeping. I honestly cannot say enough about how much we loved our stay. We stayed here for 3 nights while attending a conference in Brooklyn. The service was amazing and we loved the location. Nice and close to the subway and lots of restaurants and stores within walking distance. We loved Joe's Pizza, Liberty Bagels, and Dead Rabbit. DETAILS: The concierge was so helpful and helped us book a car to get back to the airport. The hotel held our bags after checkout so we could go explore more of the city before having to leave for our flight. They also had umbrellas you could borrow when it was raining. Staff was very friendly. CON: My only con against them was that there is a strong perfume smell when you first walk in. As someone sensitive to headaches, I was worried about it immediately, but we couldn't smell it in the room -just the lobby. Additionally the rooms were a little small and the views weren't great (just a view of another building), but we weren't expecting some grand view. Overall very satisfied and will recommend and consider rebooking next time we are in the area. read more

Had a pretty good stay at this hotel while in town for a wedding. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Room was small but very nice, with an espresso maker and nice rain shower. Biggest drawback was noise, I found it hard to sleep both nights due to either hallway noise or outside sirens and such. I know this is NY, but better soundproofing could upgrade the experience. I usually stay in midtown when I travel to NYC, but decided to try staying in the Financial District. The Artezen got good write ups. It was also the most economical of most hotels so I booked it. My room was typically small but extremely clean. The bed and sheets were very comfortable for a lower budget hotel. Shower was roomy and the towels were thick and large. The cleaning staff did a great job and when I asked for more towels, they brought them up immediately. The front desk and the seemingly 24 hour concierge provided amazing customer service. It was raining one day and they gave out free umbrellas to use. At the end of my stay, they offered an in house shuttle to the airport for $100, which was competitive with uber and was a nice SUV. After my stay, I realized I left some clothes in my room. The Operations Manager contacted me and advised they shipped it to my house for free. The customer service of this hotel exceeded all my expectations. For a smaller hotel, it was a 5 star experience. read more

When it comes to staying in a hotel in a big city, more than anything I care about location, and Artezen Hotel is in a great one. Right in the middle of downtown Manhattan, you're close to a ton of train lines and even bus stops. Close to lots of touristy spots in the financial district, a small transfer from Brooklyn, and a Duane Reade right across the street if you need to pick up some essentials. There is a resort fee, which gets you wifi, a gym (I didn't get to use it), and some water each day. Our room also had a steamer which I took advantage of. Usually with hotel rooms I like to sleep in as close to sub-zero temperatures I can get, especially when coming in from a hot summer day of walking around. I couldn't actually get my room that cold which was a little disappointing, but at least the beds were comfy. Service was pretty good. When we checked in we were running late to a tour, and the staff was quick to take care of our luggage as we ran out. Their doorman was also happy to give advice regarding making sure we left enough time to get to the airport at the end of our trip. Overall Artezen is a very solid place to stay when visiting NYC. Clean rooms at a decent price, can't ask for too much more. read more

I regularly visit New York and prefer to stay downtown or in TriBeCa This is one of the most pleasant stays I have had. This hotel is well located and close to attractions and a lot of restaurants. The room is large compared to similar hotels and very well maintained. It is quiet and comfortable. What makes the place outstanding, however, is the staff. Excellent service and very friendly. Hesitant to leave this review as this is our go to hotel for NYC... We have now stayed there 3 times since discovering Artezen Hotel last year. Prices are very reasonable especially if you book ahead. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The beds are so so comfy! The lobby smells incredible. The gym and yoga room are small but nice spaces. Recently they opened a restaurant on top. It seems they're still working out some kinks there, but it's a great space with nice energy. It is nice to have a place to grab a drink/snack and hang out outside the room. The first stay we booked a queen bed room and the last 2 stays we went for a king. We have not splurged for a balcony as we've only gone in Winter. The rooms are a bit small, but hey it's Manhattan. The shower in the king room seems to be a bit more spacious. Water pressure is very nice and it gets quite hot. The area (Lower Manhattan) is very walkable with plenty around. For us, it's near family so especially convenient. The Fulton subway stop is a one minute walk away. For the prices we have paid ($200-$300 per night after taxes/fees, depending on time of year) we feel this hotel is a good value and very enjoyable stay. My husband and I stayed at the hotel for the last 3 days. Everything was great until I lost my scarf the morning after room clean. We tried to ask the management to check for us but they kept deferring, saying that they would ask the cleaning company if my scarf got mixed up with the laundry or not. We waited 2 days, till the day we left, we received no answer at all. The hotel staffs were nice but the way the management handled my situation was bad. I would love to hear an honest answer even though it might not be the answer that I want. Please pay attention to your stuffs in the hotel. Just sharing my feedback here as I feel like a lot of the reviews written for this establishment are a bit dubious. I booked this hotel on short notice in a pinch for the holidays. I ran into some last minute issues regarding my flight and was unable to arrive on the check-in date. I reached out to the hotel to let them know about some flight issues and was hoping they would be understanding (as it is the holidays and their reviews were "good" for customer service) but they were not. They were more so inclined on grabbing the $169 fee from me than actually taking the time to empathize and understand the situation and could not care less. Please read their reviews thoroughly on both Tripadvisor and Yelp, some of it is a bit dubious and I am writing this so other travelers are aware that this Hotel is not what it seems with regards to customer service. For the future, I hope the $169 is worth it to the managers (Ereka & Daniel) of this establishment as I will be sure to remove this hotel from our list of places to stay in our company. I will also make sure non of my friends and family book this place. I want people to be aware of their true customer service and not the pumped up dubious ones. You would think during the holidays or closer to the holidays a NYC hotel would be understanding and actually compassionate of everything going on in the world let alone travel circumstances, but they don't. lesson learned, have to stay with the other more well established brands where grinching $169 is not worth the future business a satisfied potential customer can provide them. read more

What a lovely boutique hotel. I initially booked this hotel for a stay prior to this one and ended up staying somewhere else but I'm happy that I stayed here during my most recent stay in NY. Although this hotel is small, it is elegant, clean, and cozy. Big plus...no shower curtains (gives me the heebie jeebies!). Anyways I enjoyed my very short yet sweet stay here and I will book this hotel again but stay longer next time. 10/10 would recommend! read more
