This wasn't our first time staying here and it probably won't be our last. It was a wonderful a starting point to all of our NYC adventures, uptown, Harlem, Brooklyn, etc. Our room was nicely sized with enough room for a sectional couch and a desk area, as well. The amenities were above what you would get elsewhere. The room was quiet even though we were overlooking a busy street. Loved that the hotel was located so close to Bryant Park. The service here has always been good but unfortunately it was slower this time around and at times staff seemed distracted. I know they were trying a new online system and that may have contributed. Still it's our go to when we are in the city. read more

Good Hotel, would stay at again. Pros- Is a standard size room (which is excellent for the location where rooms run small). Location- 1/2 block to subway, hop on/off bus, Whole Foods, Bryant Park, Time Square, couple of blocks to Grand Central and most of the popular Broadway shows. New rooms with modern hvac/AC, unpacking space, elevators sufficient/efficient, minimal space wasted on lobby. Friendly staff, excellent room refreshes. Nice hotel with very nice staff. Convenient location and a great lobby with food. When our AC broke, the staff fixed it quickly and they were very fast with extra amenities. The fridge could be a little colder and the shampoo/conditioner is okay. It's CO Bigelow which is a little watery. Self parked at the nearby garage for $75. It's a couple of blocks walk, not too bad. Checked in via phone, the restaurant/bar was decently packed as we walked in. The room was nice sized, 2 queen beds, good sized bathroom, closet, mini fridge and pod machine. A drawer under the bed has a hair drier and sound machine for night. Great amount of plugs by the nightstands. There's a scale in the bathroom, good or bad dunno. They did tell us they would send slippers and robes up, unfortunately the slippers never made it to us. Location, location, location: walking to all the theaters and restaurants. We got back after the bar closed and they graciously handed us extra wine glasses and popped our wine bottle open. In the morning I discovered there's a Mamane cafe right downstairs. read more

We stayed here on a recent visit to Manhattan. My wife and I really liked this hotel. The room and bathroom size was good. Everything was clean and updated. The bed was comfortable. The modern, trendy style of the hotel was great. We appreciated all the modern conveniences. An example was lots of charging ports, including USB-C ports. The shower had good pressure and hot water. Good wifi. The location is very good. The subways are close, so it is easy to get back and forth. The hotel is next to Bryant Park and the library. There is a nearby Wholefoods for groceries. Two coffee places are on the block. You have to go to Crunch Fitness to workout. I didn't give it a try, so I cannot comment. The staff was friendly and accommodating. This was one of the better hotels we have stayed in this area. We would definitely stay here again. read more

Very nice but small public space. The food is terrific and staff is pleasant and helpful. The bed and pillows were comfortable. I very much appreciated the ability to fully control the HVAC in the room as I find most NYC hotels stifling hot in winter. Not only can you cool the room, but there is a small window to allow air flow if needed. The shower and bathroom are nicely appointed. Be warned that some rooms face an alleyway with no view or direct sunlight so if you want a view, choose carefully. Also my iPhone was never able to connect to the hotel free WiFi and my ATT service in the building was pitiful. read more

I love this hotel. I live in California. I stayed there from August 24-30, 2025. The hotel is immaculate. It is a block and a half from Times Square. It's even closer to Bryant Park. My room was on the 17th floor. It was so quiet. The location of the hotel made it easy to get to the subway. The hotel staff were very friendly and professional with a willingness to help. I'm glad that I chose this hotel for the first time. It's a high end, high quality, high rise hotel that is very close to Times Square. If being close to 42nd Street, 8th Avenue to 5th Avenue this would be a good place to stay. It is true that the hotel is expensive but I would love to go there again. read more

Great experience. Great location. Great staff. Easy check-in. Secure storage for before your room is ready and after checkout, before your flight home. Room had lots of storage, nice amenities, blackout curtains, noise machines (but we didn't need it--didn't really hear what was going on outside too much), magnified makeup mirrors, very nice linens, comfortable beds. Everything was very clean. The staff was quick to any requests for extra toiletries, ice, towels,... Shout out to Travis and the rest of the guys at the lobby (especially the young man who, in the pouring rain, ran the block to try to hail a cab for us and came back soaking wet!) for the super pleasant attitudes, helpful demeanor, and big smiles. Very well-located for the theater district and close to multiple subway lines. They were able to get me in my room when I arrived before noon, which is always a nice perk when available. There's not much of a lobby area, but there is a small bar to one side and the new restaurant (overseen by Charlie Palmer) is towards the back and definitely worth a stop. The rooms are fresh and new and quite functional; they're an average size for New York (read: smallish) but the space is utilized well. I wouldn't necessarily call them luxurious, but the bed is comfortable and there are very nice Times Square views if you go for the Skyline category. It's nice to have a mini-fridge that you can use to store your own items. The flooring wasn't my favorite -- it's not carpet and not vinyl or tile, but some sort of woven material that felt to me like that stuff you put under bathroom mats to keep them from sliding. The bathroom is well laid-out and gives enough counter space with a good-sized shower. There are only two elevators, but they are quick and never seemed to get backed up. There's not much on the immediate block of the hotel, but the surrounding streets offer plenty of dining and drinking places and the main grouping of Broadway theaters are within a 10-minute walk. The hotel doesn't offer a lot of "character," as they say, but if you are fine with something modern and a central location is important, then this is a very good choice. read more

My husband and I came to the city to attend the Knicks game at MSG and stayed one night. The front desk staff and doormen are very friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is very clean, they have a bar/restaurant which we did not go to but heard great things about both. Our room was on the 4th floor, it did not have best view but the room was very nice and had everything we needed. The walk from grand central to the hotel and from the hotel to MSG wasn't that far. Short walk to a lot of great things! Overall we had a great experience and will definitely stay again in the future. read more

Stayed here for a work trip because my boss was also staying here and he recommended it. It's been recently renovated and is located a few blocks from Times Square. I was impressed from the moment I stepped into the hotel to the moment I ended my stay and left the hotel. The service was top notch all the way. My room was perfect. Everything was clean and tight. The closet included bathrobes and slippers with the hotel logo on them, which I didn't need on this trip because the heat index was near 100! The cleaning staff left me chocolates every day, the manager left me a message to ask if there was anything I needed to let them know, and even in noisy midtown, I slept well because the window blocked out the noise. Amazing! From check-in to check-out, our stay was nothing short of fabulous!!!! The hotel is perfectly situated within walking distance to so many landmarks, restaurants, shopping, and theaters. The staff could not have been more friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. Our room was clean and comfortable. Maid service was on hand daily to replace towels and toiletries. Loved this place. My Fiancé and I were visiting NYC to spend the NYE, just like a once in a lifetime thing to check off our bucketlist. We stood for hours in the crowd and eventually gave up and decided to walk back to the Airbnb. On our way back we were Very Lucky to find this spot. Ortzi restaurant located in Luma hotel. We checked with the receptionist and they said there was a part going on and the entry fee was 100$. We paid that to get into this place and get unlimited drinks (bartenders were amazing and made you the top fav drinks) with buffet tapas ( charcuterie, very small plates). This place has nice restrooms. The music was just amazing ( cos I love love spanish music). At midnight they offered us champagne and we were able to walk out with it and toast to the ball drop view ( that you can see in the picture) Was definitely worth it, loved the overall experience. Than standing outside in the cold admits the crazy crowd and barely getting the view. read more

This hotel was great, but there were a few small things that I thought were lacking. Pros: Great location. Just down the street from Bryant Park and there was a holiday market going on. They will hold your bags for you if you get there before check in time. Rooms are very modern. The shade for the window has a switch on the wall. There was a doorbell for the room and coordinating lights to let staff know if you wanted your room made up. Nespresso in the room! Bathroom has a fog less mirror! A robot brought us our DoorDash delivery! Cons: The street in front can get some loud traffic at night, so if your room faces the street, prepare for a lot of horns blaring. Pillows were just ok. There were five pillows on the king size bed and all of them became flat after laying down after only a few minutes. Not enough counter space in the bathroom. But to be fair, I'm sure our room was meant for a couple or single person, not two girls with lots of toiletries. Shower head was too high up for us to adjust any settings. Didn't vacuum during turn down. There's no carpet in the room, so it can be very noticeable if there are crumbs dropped on the floor. No microwave in the room. We would have eaten some of our leftovers if there had been a microwave available. Bathroom door is a frosted glass sliding door, so no lock, no sound proofing, no privacy. And there is a full length mirror on the other side of the door. Several times I'd be in the bathroom and see the shape of someone at the door (using the mirror) and wonder if I can see them, can they see me? read more

Stayed 4 nights with the family for our spring break vacation, and LUMA was a great hotel to stay at. Rooms were clean, location was good with access to all the subway lines, and plenty of places to eat nearby. Shout out to Travis who helped us with bags on the day we arrived and when we left. Love this hotel. We just spent 6 days in New York at Hotel Luma. It was a great stay. The hotel is smaller, has 6 rooms each floor and is very quiet and super clean. Everybody is super nice and very helpful. Starting with Rocsteve who helped us with the luggage and car all the way to housekeeping. At one point we needed something and literally 60 seconds after hanging up the phone they brought it to us. The location is awesome too. Right by Bryant park and Time Square. I can highly recommend this hotel and can't wait to stay there again. read more

Luma was wonderful! Our family of 4 (with two teenagers) stayed for two nights. The two king room was a perfect fit! The shower was lovely and the room was super quiet. Even the kids were shocked at how well they slept. The hotel's location is just outside of Times Square and a hop from Bryant Park. It is truly a great location. The staff were super friendly. We grabbed Joe's Pizza which is a 2 minute walk and ate lunch in the lobby at the window table. We utilized the parking package. At the end of our stay our car showed up via valet within 15 minutes of request. Great hotel, our teens even got a kick out of the robot butler. I would definitely stay at Luma again! Made reservations in March for the last week in June. According to my conversations with Hotel personnel my reservations included a $75 drink credit and breakfast included. Upon my arrival on June 24th I was informed that breakfast was not included. That added over $20 a person to the bill for each of 6 days. That added $1,200 to my bill, obviously a major expense. I had reserved 3 rooms for those 6 days to house 10 people. It was a huge factor in my selection of the Luma Hotel. I even offered to take a $400 return rather than the $1,200 I was truly owed. So please get the deal in writing. I was told they recorded their reservation calls but would not listen to the recording or allow me to. The hotel itself was nice and service was good except for ice. Had to get it delivered to your room as there was no ice machine on the floor. read more

It's not often I write yelp reviews anymore but I felt so compelled to write one after our wonderful recent stay at the Luma in New York! Here were a few things that really stood out to me: - Customer service : the staff was friendly, attentive warm, welcoming and helpful. I'm sure they interact with many guests daily but it felt they were really looking after each guest and doing their best to take care of them -Alina the robot! She delivered a cute robot plush to our room for my daughter and can deliver different items to your room. -Early check in: we took a red eye in and arrived before the check in time, luckily after calling ahead and the day we arrived , they allowed us to check in early so we could get some much needed rest after long flight and ride into the city! The room was clean , quiet and comfortable also. -Location: I normally don't ever choose hotels in Times Square but luma was so central and close to the theaters and easy and felt safe to walk back to at night. There was a whole Foods across the street,Bryant park, and several cafes and eateries we went to. Very close to the subway Station -The personal note the staff left: I had mentioned when booking that this was my first trip after becoming a new mom and the staff left a very sweet note and gift for me. Excellent option if you need a hotel in or near Midtown. The desk staff were friendly, the room was modern and comfortable, and the room was surprisingly quiet on a Thursday night thanks to thick windows and not being right on an avenue. I was nervous about my room being right off the elevator, but it wasn't a problem. My one recommendation is that they offer a warning in the bathroom that the lights are on a timer. I turned the lights on while getting ready, and I guess I took a while because the lights snapped off while I was finishing up my shower! There's a built in night light in the bathroom, so thankfully it wasn't pitch dark. read more

Our stay here was great. The staff made us feel like their cousins, that they liked, coming to visit. They gave us great sites to see and places to eat. They made the room special for my friend's birthday. There is also a daily (not Sunday) complimentary Sangria. This will be my go place to stay. This is a great hotel in a great part of town, near Times Square and Bryant Park. What I love about this hotel is that it takes no time at all to get from the front door to your room. I hate wasting time walking through a lobby. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The room rates are very fair for the size of the room. The rooms are very large for NYC. The quality of the room is wonderful. Bed/TV/Closet/Bathroom everything. Due to COVID, we could not take advantage of the restaurant or bar. The hotel is near Joes Pizza, Whole Foods and Bryant Park which has many activities to take advantage of. I look forward to staying at this hotel again. read more

I booked this hotel based on the amazing ratings it received. When I initially walked in, I was confused as to how of all of the gazillion hotels, I chose this one. It was such a tiny entrance, I almost missed it. As my stay began to unravel, I see why people rate it so highly. It's a newly remodeled/ built smaller boutique hotel. The bathrooms are new tile and glass, the rooms have like a bamboo floor instead of nasty dirty carpet. The outlets are all pre wired with USB access, it's got like the smart sensing lights and shades. It reminds me of the modern hotel rooms in Vegas. Except in New York! The service is amazing. The receptionist was very sweet, very welcoming and it felt genuine. Every time I had to walk in and out the doors, their people would open the doors for us. I think the excellent service is definitely a distraction for being such a small hotel. They don't have a gym but are contracted with the gym down the street. They have a great bar/restaurant area in the main lobby which is very inviting. This hotel is off of Times Square a block so not as much street noise but still lots of hustle and bustle. My room is right next to the elevator and it is very noisy. There's a stopping sound that may drive me crazy. They offer a noise machine for a reason, not because they're that boujie. read more

We went here for a Friday night before Christmas as my husband has never been to NYC at Christmas time and lets face it, thats the most magical time for NYC. The hotel not even a Block from Bryant park. This is a lovely Christmas Market everyone should go to once. The staff was always super helpful from the lady who checked me in and helped me with the wi-fi to the bartender who gave us our free sangria 5 minutes early so we could make our play, to the people who always seemed to be at the door when we would walk up to it with packages. Our family just checked out and we had a wonderful stay. The room was clean and modern , and the beds were comfortable. Being in New York, the rooms weren't huge but they maximized the space in the room with these stylish built in hooks on the wall to hang our bags as well as a built in bench. They also had a white noise machine that we took advantage of while sleeping . They told us of a cute robot that can bring amenities up for us but we didn't get a chance to use it. We booked direct for our stay and got a 75 dollar credit towards food and used it for yummy desserts . We were bummed that we were too busy on our stay to take advantage of the complimentary happy hour food and drinks. Lastly what made our stay special was the hospitality of the front desk and bellhop (Roksteve). Roksteve would greet us each time three of us came in and left the hotel with warmth .
