He forced us to pay a $143 bill which included the 6 drinks and 1 salad that we did eat/drink AS WELL AS the grose food that no one touched AND the meals for the 2 people that never came to the table because they didn't cook their food. Since the owner didn't care about anything but his money and causing a scene I'm the crowded restaurant, we paid the $143 bill and left. They lost loyal, 10 year, excellent tipping customers. Fortunately, we found New Limburg Brewing Company. Being from the area, I've heard a lot about this place but haven't been. I've seen their stuff in the LCBO. I was also intrigued because it was all located in an old school building in Nixon. The main room isn't terribly huge but it had more than enough spots for our large group of 12 to sit. I loved the classroom feel with the piano, shelves of games, and the chalkboards. There's also a fantastic looking patio out front and an amazing back yard area. I shared the bitterballen, spring rolls and pepperette with my partner. We were warned that the kitchen is slower because they make everything fresh. And boy do they EVER. Everything we tasted was absolutely delicious. Hot, fresh and full of flavour. I wish I could have explored more of the menu! They had lots of really unique beers on tap. We especially enjoyed the mulled beer they had. It was warm which was interesting but it was still lovely. I highly recommend New Limburg as a spot to check out during your journeys through Norfolk County. This is a refreshing oasis in the midst of ...not a whole lot. I say that with all my heart. A very odd owner indeed. He doesn't remember yelling at the group of people who posted a Yelp review from six years ago, and the guy also posted his personal phone number on the review for a call back. I imagine if you buy beers from the bottle shop on a busy day you can't get seating in the summer they won't let you consume them on site on the outside patio. He was definitely annoyed by my questions. Don't want the trouble of meeting the Norfolk OPP to get trespassed off the property. I think I might skip this place.
