They came out to service two fireplaces (a heat and glo Tiaria and a Mendota FV41). One unit was not working, and they fixed it (replaced the battery in the starter). The other unit was cleaned and inspected. The over the phone quote provided was the final cost, they arrived on time (early actually), and the communication before/during/after the visit was perfect. The technician was knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. I appreciated that they took their shoes off when entering the house, and that they did a good job of protecting the carpet when cleaning the fireplace/cleaning up after their work. After they put in our new gas insert, we had them out several times to fix the loud fan noise, but it kept coming back after every visit. Each time I reached out, they were very responsive but we still had the problem. Our last visit was from Taylor and he did a very thorough and outstanding job, taking the time to move the fan instead of just putting in some insulation to muffle the sound. I think he even adjusted the flames because they look more realistic than when it was installed! We are very happy with the job Taylor did and will request him for any future service that we need. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I am a contractor and I had them out to a customers house. I contacted them the night before and informed them that the grill wouldn't come off and asked to talk to a tech. The secretary just stopped replying. It was weird from the moment the tech walked in. The tech came and said he saw the emails and noticed that she just stopped responding. I explained what was happening with the fireplace and asked the tech if he wanted to see. He said yes. I turned on the gas and the tech had to tell me how to lite the pilot light. I started it. The tech told me they can't work on it with the grill on. I got the grill off. He also tells me that he can't work on it because it has been running. I asked him why he would tell me to start it. This starts a whole semantic game of "I didn't tell you to". I inform him that I asked and he said yes. Then he said it's common sense that he can't work on a fireplace that's hot. I tell him I don't know his process. He keeps being condescending and telling me it's common sense and he has to go because he has 5 more appointments. Mind you this was a 12pm appointment and he is trying to rush out at 12:08. I told him that he is putting me in a really bad place with my customer and this was also a job that isn't paying. I ask him how he could be out of time when he just got there 8 minutes ago and he refuses to give an answer. He said he could come back at 8 pm but I told him my day is over by then. He just leaves. I call the office and ask to speak to a manager and they say Wayne (the owner because they don't seem to have any real managers) is busy. I explain what happens and the secretary says she told the tech to contact me last night but maybe he "ran out of time". The tech calls me back and says that he is refusing to come back because I repeated him and he is the head tech. He said I lied about the turning on the fireplace. I reminded him what happened and how he literally told me where the pilot light was. He then switched his narrative saying again I should have known he couldn't work on it if it's been turned on. I keep telling him that I don't know their process and how would I know that they take apart a gas fireplace without testing the problem. I call the office back and ask to speak to the manager this is when they put Wayne the owner on. He was very rude and defensive and told me he knew what took place (mind you he wasn't there). There was no apology. There was no possibility that there was just a misunderstanding. He basically called me a liar and sided with his tech. He then went into this rant that something could get broken and no one will pay. He was very flighty and scared about money which is scary as a business owner. As a business owner myself that is a part of business but you can't take it out on you new customers. Just a very bizarre and unprofessional experience. I don't know why the tech would see me and then in that moment decide that be wasn't going to service me and then retaliate when he was reported. If you use them be prepared for unnecessary drama and in professionalism. read more

I was very happy with the service from this company. We moved into a new house and the inspector wasn't sure about our fireplace. They came out and cleaned, re-sealed, laid down extra glowing embers, and installed a remote in about a half hour. The technician was extremely friendly, and was able to fix an issue with the fireplace without ordering an extra part. Not a fan of writing poor reviews.....haven't really had that bad of an experience with a contractor to give such a poor rating. We were getting hardwood floors in our family room, so it would make sense to get a new fireplace with a new footprint. Checked out a number of fireplace stores, and decided to go with the Fireplace Guys. Problem was, we were scheduled for new floors in a few weeks so we needed to know if they could accommodate us and come and tear out existing fireplace before new floors go in. Signed contract with them July 20 and put down payment. August 4, 2017 they came and did a nice job with the demo. Neat, efficient, didn't leave an ugly mess. We were scheduled to have them back on Aug 22, but a totally unexpected death in the family caused us to have to leave town and reschedule the install. Not problem. Next date was pushed to Setpember 7. I decided to order my own mantels, so I had a three to choose from sitting in my family room so I could see once the stone started to go on which would look best. I went through what I wanted. A hearth about 13 or so inches off the ground. I want to be able to sit on it but not too far out in the room, about 12" deep. They install new fireplace, frame it up, get my approval, and then lay out where the mantels will hang. Holy cow!!!! The mantels would be hanging about 6' off the floor!!!! because of the depth of the mantel. Okay, wish I would have known that before. That is not going to work. Framed up, but will have to return tomorrow to do some stone work. Next day they stone up to the top of the fireplace insert, (stone is going to the ceiling), and then stop so I can start over looking for a new mantel. Can't find one that would clear the combustible clearance, so I resort to ordering a concrete mantel from the store that looks just like wood. It really is an amazing product. They give it to me at a reduced price, because of the trouble. This mantel would allow me to hang it at any height because it's NOT combustible. Paid another "progress payment" at that time. (beginning of September). 10/2 I get an email from the company stating they had a cancellation and would like to come and finish fireplace tomorrow!!!!! The mantel is in. I reply via email and let them know that I won't be home, so that date doesn't work. I give a few other options and ask them to contact me to set up a time to finish fireplace. I finally call them at the end of the week to get on their calendar. They work me in on October 12 to finish fireplace. They come out for a few hours on the 12th, 13th, and then the 16th to finish up the mantel and the remaining stone. That wonderful noncombustible mantel that I would be able to hang at any height? It had to be hung a little higher than I wanted because they didn't frame the fireplace so they could hang a mantel lower!!!! Okay, finished, right? Wrong. Missing a clamp on the glass, but hopefully they will be able to take it from another fireplace and bring it out to my house. I'm also not happy with the siding repair they did. They were able to find the exact siding, but when they installed it, they cut the piece of siding in the middle of the vinyl "plank" so there was a huge cut!!! Not the way the siding should be installed. October 31, someone shows up to fix siding job and give me a clamp for the glass to hold it in place. Siding isn't how I would have done it, but it's better. Let's be done with this nightmare, PLEASE!!!! November 2, while I am enjoying my fireplace, a huge crash happens. Yep, a piece of stone has fallen off the fireplace and luckily crashed onto the hearth (not the floor). And to make it even better, I had just gotten off of the hearth and walked to the kitchen!!! Very grateful my kids weren't sitting there enjoying the fireplace. I still haven't paid the final payment, so I send an email and picture to the company telling them what happened and that they need to get someone out to fix this. Nov 3, Friday morning, I get a call saying this has NEVER happened before. Wayne had just left for a meeting. They don't have anyone available to day to come and fix it, but Monday morning they are having a staff meeting. After the meeting they will call me and let me know when they can send someone out. Would that be okay with me? Actually no, it's not. But it's sounding like I don't have much of a choice but to wait until you have someone who can come out and fix my stone that's falling off my fireplace....... stay tuned. read more
