This was our first time here. It was nice to sit outside. The food was very good, we loved the homemade chips. Nice beer selection as well. All for a very reasonable price. Happy hour drinks yum! Good beer selection! Mac n cheese with bacon was good, good atmosphere, clean and updated interior, can't wait for the patio to open! Great service! Had the Cuban sandwich, I'm Cuban, it had too much mustard, not really an authentic Cuban Sandwich but good, my friend raved about the turkey sandwich with the cream cheese. We were looking for a place to grab a bit at a weird time of the day..about 2:30 on a Friday afternoon. We shared a burger and chips which was pretty good really. The atmosphere was really lacking for us and not what we expected. It is really a bar that serves food. That wasn't what we were looking for and so wished that had been clearer at their website and here on Yelp. People compared it to mcmennimans but the atmosphere is very different from mcmennimans. read more

Went on the website and my wife and I were excited to try this new place to us. Well, the prices were higher than the website listed. We thought no big deal. Ordered our food and about 15 minutes later the cook brought our food. My wife ordered their French toast with bacon. The French toast was over cooked and the bacon was extremely salty and burnt. But it was ice cold and the server was asked to get the food warmed up! They brought it back with and the bacon and French toast even more burnt and Luke warm at best because the butter would not melt on the toast. She ate a little almost half of this horrid food. Now for my meal I had their homemade corn beef hash with two eggs and toast. Well when they delivered my food with no toast it was not warm and the string potatoes were hard due to being overcooked and Luke warm at best. The egg was cooked to the order but it also was luke warm too. No toast and the server told the cook and he said sorry I will get it. About five minutes later I got two slices of bread that was not toasted or warm it had no color at all and the butter would not even melt on the no color bread. Then the server said sorry about what happened we would like to buy your next Mimosas. We told her no just bring us the check. When she dropped off the check she told us I took your Mimosas off. We tried out this place for date night on Friday. Relatively busy but seated within about 10 minutes! The waitresses were all bubbly and helpful with great attitudes, and plenty of recommendations for us. I got a Capri sun drink- stiff, but good! We also ordered the stuffed gnocchi appetizer, which was scalding hot so I subsequently got a blister on the roof of my mouth. However they were delicious so I'll bypass the temperature. We ordered the Fireside burgers for dinner which were delicious- holy crap! I couldn't even eat half so I took the rest home. Also, the chips they served there (handmade in house) were fantastic. I never ever give a 1 star unless I undergo multiple bad times and/or something so utterly horrible happens that I can't bring myself to ever go back. I really, truly, wanted to love this place. I've been here eight times total, I never review a place without going at least three times, my initial review was after four times. I took a very long time to muse and consider what happened and what I'd say, just to make sure I'd not leave a spur of the moment angry review. In fact I considered going back just once more to hopefully change my view...but I couldn't bring myself to. On our sixth visit, we had to walk up to get anything. We were not greeted, given menus, or acknowledged for longer than I'm used to. Multiple times I try to wave a busser down and he smiles and walks away. No apology, no reasons, everything was late and we had to go to the bar to pay. By this time I'm getting tired of this but I think, "It's just the way it is here." The next time we are acknowledged and had our drink/food orders taken (together) fairly quickly. But our drinks come out later than two parties who arrived after us. I think "it's how it is here". The other parties get their food and we're still sitting wondering what gives. They are almost finished with their meal and we have not yet gotten ours. I check the time and we've been there over an hour and have not received our food. I make sure to order food and drinks at the same time because I know how this place tends to take forever to come back. I am continually looking to the kitchen and no food is on the counter, not even an indication they're cooking it; I see staff members looking directly at me but no one comes over. I'm LITERALLY standing up an hour and twenty minutes later to tell them never mind and they come out with our food. One order is cooked wrong and my colleague tells the server, who apologizes but does not offer to have it redone. We're too upset to bother since it might take another hour. They didn't acknowledge our frustration and didn't try to compensate for the wait and wrong order. I felt completely ignored by the entire staff and that our server didn't care. The last time was it. Fine at first, even with three servers juggling us so we were asked multiple times the same thing. We order drinks and food at the same time. We get everything in timely fashion except one item. We are almost finished with the meals, I go up and ask the server I know took our order (she didn't write any of it down) if the item will be out. She doesn't remember me ordering it but she'll ring it up and bring it out, then take it off the bill. Totally happy with that. It comes out, get the check...it's on the bill. I go up and ask to have it taken off and am subject to the three of them actually arguing over who was supposed to ring it up and forgot in the first place. I know who it was and I just want to pay and leave. When one of the arguing servers bring the corrected bill, it's with a heaping of attitude as if it was our fault. We pay, we are leaving, no one says thanks or goodbye even though I know they see us as they're sitting right next to the door. That's low. I've kept coming back even knowing how difficult it is because I wanted to like this place so much, but I have continually felt ignored, poorly treated, and frustrated. Not acknowledging us, or acknowledging our frustration, then fighting in front of me... I really tried to love you, I did. I still think you CAN be super friendly and delicious, but you make me sad too much. :( read more

Miz Mona and I stopped into The Fireside Grill last night not really knowing what to expect. A few friends had recommended the place with the admonition "You HAVE to try The Ruben". So I ask you, what is an Angry Jew to do? We are early diners, so we arrived right around the six o'clock hour and at first glance I liked what I saw. Their kitchen is in full view from the front windows, so you know they have to be proud of what they are serving up. The bar was well stocked and the vivacious Roxie told us to find ourselves a table. Now Miz Mona prefers to stay in the background, but me, I have a burning desire to be in the middle of everything so we took a small four top in the center of the house. Our waiter, Issac, was quickly at our side with menus and to take our drink orders. The bar looked well stocked and I inquired if they had any Rye Whiskey in the house. He went to confer with the man behind the bar and I stepped over to see what they had. David, who I was later informed was the owner, reviewed their selection of not one, but FOUR different ryes. Oh Hell yes! It it is hard enough in this town to find a bar that even knows what rye is, but, as it turns out, David is also a fan and I selected their top shelf offering ($18 for a very generous pour) while Miz Mona warmed her chilled bones with their Moroccan coffee, their take on a Spanish Coffee. We settled on a hummus plate for an appetizer and were treated to house made hummus, sliced cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and plenty of flat bread. The cured onions were a very tasty touch. Yum factor was off the chart. After devouring our appetizer we settled on a a Ruben for me (natch) and Miz Mona chose the grilled ham and white cheddar, " Natural ham and white cheddar melted together and topped with seared tomatoes. Served open faced on thick cut garlic sourdough bread with a side of Dijon". Service to the table was a little on the slow side, but when you take into account that everything in the house is scratch made and high quality, it was not unreasonable. Our food was delivered to the table by David himself and he took the time to chat with us and fill us in on the places short history, open less then three months they are pretty much full on the weekends despite doing zero advertising. All of their business is from word of mouth, and from the meal we were served, I can see why they need not bother. The Ruben was served up hot and melty on marbled rye, with their house made beer kraut and Russian dressing adding just the right zing. Miz Monas ham and white cheddar was, her words, oooey gooey, melty schmelty wonderfulness. The kicker was their Yukon house chips, thin sliced Yukon gold potatoes, fried up crispy and drizzled with a Gorgonzola cream sauce. A big ole plate of these and a beer from their extensive draft menu could easily get me through a game on one of their many big screens. One reviewer referred to the Fireside as a confused place. "Is it a wine bar? Is it a sports bar. Is it a pub. Is it a fine dining. Actually this place is trying to be all of these and is failing at all." I couldn't disagree more. When the outdoor patio opens and the fire pit is lit, I can easily see this place being all this and more. David has brought a little bit of downtown dining to the Westside and thrown in just the right neighborhood pub feel to make us loyal customers. read more

This place can be a little tricky to find. It is located behind the 7/11.Turn at the 7/11. Our party of 4 waited at the front only a few minutes until the barkeep said it is a seat yourself situation so we took a seat in the back booth next to the stack of storage boxes. This place has an array of salads, sandwiches, burgers and entrees. One person in our party was a vegan and I checked out the menu online before hitting up this place only to find out that the vegan couscous was no longer on the menu, but vegan burger and wrap are. They have a large selection of beers on tap. The service was fair but confusing. We didn't actually know who our server was because a bunch of different servers showed up at any given time to do different things. The left hand didn't quite keep tabs on what the right hand was doing. So it was kind of a cluster flip. I suspect that they do this because they maybe all split the gratuities at the end of the night?!?! I agree with another reviewer as to what is up with the storage boxes in the back of the room? That corner can be an income corner. They could put another table, booth, or a KJ in that corner and make some money. Everyone was pleased with their food orders. I ordered a burger and it was cooked medium rare and not medium well like I asked. I would suggest that they learn that just because most chefs enjoy rare not every patron is into it. Some patrons grew up with a different sense on how meat should be prepared. You can blame my mommy. Mr. Chad loved their mac and cheese. FYI- bring your own American style yellow mustard. They only feature their own house made dijon and grain styles. They only have house made chips no french fries. The chips are good, and that is their schtick, but womens need their fry fix. RAW PORK - no accountability - I went for dinner last night with a group of people. My partner and I ordered the pork chop entree. We cut the outer side portion of the chop first which was fine. As we cut into the section closest to the bone it became evident that the chop was raw towards the bone. We spoke to the waitress, explained and showed her the problem, and asked if we could have another one. She said , OK.... "but just to let you know it will be a really long wait - at least 45 min." So I asked for a refund. She came back and stated that we shouldn't have eaten so much of the dish if sending it back and offered a free desert. My partner and said no. She said that she was "dealing" with the chef. Her attitude became worse and worse and she seemed to take it personally . We offered to talk to the chef ourselves but he - nor any management - ever appeared. She returned and stated that 1/2 of the cost of the entree had been taken off of the bill. There was never any acknowledgment that the meat was raw, no apology or concern about health risks, or the possibility of acquiring Trichinellosis. I have been here before and liked it, so was VERY surprised at the unprofessional attitude of the waitress and management. I have never been to a restaurant where they take no accountability for a dish that was clearly prepared incorrectly. We will never go back and they will hear from us if we get sick. read more

Chicken wings with dry, tough, chicken. Hummus plate missing Greek olives & carrot sticks. Door to storage area propped open, looking dirty & visible to those in dining area. Chairs in dining area dusty on the rails under the seats. Leaving through back door we passed a 4x6' area of boxes for recycle, in disarray. I love the Fireside Grill. I used to go to this location years ago when it was a McMenamins. This is a definite upgrade from that. They have great beer selection, great cocktails, and the burgers are fantastic. I love the Bomber, though I have tried everything on the menu I keep going back to that one. I'm confused. So many great reviews. Good comments on atmosphere and friendliness. My bf and i decided to try this place based on raving reviews. Was a bit hard to find but not terrible. For a saturday night it was terribly slow for being as popular as people say it is. There was a couple smoking cigarettes not even 5 feet from the door which for me is a huge turn off. And when I peeked into the window of the kitchen portion (very odd set up this place) I noticed a very dirty kitchen with food out all over the place and dishes piled everywhere. When we went inside, no one greeted us, and it certainly isn't "upscale" like it claims. The atmosphere was bleh. I wasn't looking for super upbeat (like malones) but something a bit.. more.. well there... I guess. Bf took a quick look around and said "nope". We left. Sad because I was looking forward to food. Pretty much our favorite little bar in all of Beaverton. The staff is always really nice and they have a really great menu too. The perfect little local bar that South Beaverton has needed for a long time. My wife and I love it! Our only suggestion would be to get rid of the strange video game in the back and create extra spaces for folks to sit. read more

You can't tell a book by its cover. Or Fireside by its hidden/crapy/dive bar like exterior. Great food and service waits inside. To be warned it is not fancy, big or plush inside but it gets the job done. Like I said its a small space so if you need quick service or lots of space come at an off hour. We love its a bar and 21 over only. When the weather good out on the fireside deck is nice. Full bar with lots of fun speciality drinks and tons of taps. That's all great but food is the real reason to come. Burgers are big and handmade. Try the Zee with sausage and kraut. My fav thing is the ruben. Home cooked cubed corned beef with all the usual yummy stuff. Be prepared to eat with a knife and fork. It's kinda big and a bit messy but delish. One moe thing they don't do french frys. Normally this is a burger deal breaker with me but not here. They do house cooked Regular or sweet chips. They are amazing and a nice change up to the usual. read more

Heard this place has great breakfast so we decided to try it out. The decision was late though, about 1230. The website said they stopped serving breakfast at 12 so we called to verify. Fireside said they served until 1. Now I've worked in restaurants for years and people coming in 10 minutes before service ends sucks, we didn't want to be those people. I told them we would be there very close to 1 and asked if it was okay and if we could still have breakfast. They said it was fine and assured us we could still order breakfast. We get into the Fireside at 1250 and ask for the breakfast menus only to be denied. I told them we called and asked, verified that it was still breakfast time. Even had we not called they serve until 1 on Sundays. They said "sorry I just asked Dave and we're done serving breakfast". After sitting there for a few minutes we left. I can't comment of the food, I've heard it's excellent and it probably is. But the first, and last, experience I had with the service decided it for me. I hope well for the place, but I'll never be returning. read more

Love this place, and their burgers. They always have great beer on tap (Barley Browns Pallet Jack is one of my favorites!), and it's great to know that they have little versions of their big burgers which are a smaller piece of meat. Great if you're not feeling very hungry, or want to watch your red meat intake. Just note: this place is not kid-friendly, and they will card everyone in your group. I was there for lunch after going for a run with a (over 21) friend who didn't have her id on her, and we had to leave. Oh well! The staff are great and so is the food--just be sure to bring your id. read more
