Went today around 11:30. We sat ourselves down as we were told. A very nice young lady brought our drinks, gave us menu's and stated, "she'll be right over to take your orders". We sat for a half hour and "she" never came over to us. There was a couple next to us that were waiting for their food for the entire time we were waiting to place our order. The wife got up to inquire and was greeted by the waitress very sternly "what's up? what do you need?". The woman asked politely where her food was. The waitress stated, "everyone is waiting, you'll just have to wait too". She turned to us and stated, "I didn't know you were here, she never told me" (meaning the gal who brought us our drinks & menu's). We sat at a table in very plain site; she clearly saw us. She came back over to take our order; we informed her we were leaving (this was now 12:05). Her response "oh. okay." She never apologized to us or the folks waiting a long time for their meals. The professional and responsible thing to do would have been for her to apologize for the wait and explain that they were behind. There was no explanation, only attitude. Very poor service. It was our first time and last time going there! Great way to lose business. We understand places are busy and short staffed, but don't make people sit there and wait without any communication and to boot. be rude to the customers. My flatmate and I enjoy our brunch so we decided to try a new place (for us) to eat. We also were intrigued by the fact that this establishment is linked to Grubhub and figured we should try that aspect out as well. We both got omelettes (which came with potatoes and toast) and we were able to specify which cheeses, toast, and additions. It didn't outright ask us which specifications we wanted though so, that's something that might need to be corrected on Grubhub; I don't know what they do with your order if you don't specify. Anyway, the ordering process was simple enough and we made the pick-up for about an hour after they opened (we didn't want to be jerks and overwhelm the cook right away). We amended something on the order after they sent a confirmation e-mail (later, we discovered they either did not see the correction or it was too late to fix it) but that could've also been another Grubhub issue. I drive over to pick up the food at the time we figure it's done (they don't let you know personally like with some take-out places) and I was surprised by two things. 1. We have lived in Oneida going on 2 years now and we have been passing this place pretty regularly without even realizing it. In their defense, it was a dark and gloomy morning but I almost didn't see the sign at all doing 55 mph (it doesn't jump out or grab the attention of passersby). 2. Although there were already people inside eating, I wouldn't have know by walking through the front door. It was barely lit inside and the atmosphere was "low-key horror movie in an old-timey bed and breakfast setting". I was glad we got it to go because we would've sat in the kinda creepy front dining area or would've been possibly too snug near the kitchen in the back (where the other diners were); I'm not claustrophobic but in the 40 seconds it took to get our to-go bag, I was a little. The woman who hands me the bag not only doesn't greet me, she doesn't fake a semblance of pleasantness, and she made me feel like I was in the wrong spot. I told her I was there to pick up an order, she looks me up and down, nods and then tells me "there are menus in the bag...". I tell her "thank you" and "have a nice day", neither receives any kind of response. I drive home and we take our Styrofoam containers out (the only downside of takeout is the the gross containers), and dig in. The first thing both my flatmate and I notice is that our potatoes are BLACK, not like well-done with a little crisp on top, BURNT. It would be one thing if they were super crispy and it was only a little bit blackened; half of the red potatoes were just black for no real reason, as the potatoes were soft/bordering on soggy. I wanted to chock this up to them cooling down in between them being cooked and us picking them up but, I would be ashamed to give anything that looked like that to a customer. The omelettes were ok but kind of bland. It was a solid, thick egg but, it had very little flavor, despite what our toppings were. My flatmate was beyond disappointed and weirded out by what she thought was the liner (red gingham paper) dying her egg pink. I guessed maybe it was cooked next to someone else's tomatoes or something (neither of us ordered anything that included tomato) and finished mine. The toast was fine, it's toast though, you really shouldn't be able mess that up. All in all, it was not worth the $20ish plus the tip (which was overly generous, if you ask me); I wish I could get my money back. We have had mediocre breakfasts but we were expecting this place to be better because of all the other reviews. We probably won't eat here again. read more

This place was open early the day after a holiday when many other places in the area were closed. It was adorable outside & in, and the owner who served us couldn't have been nicer. The regular locals at the counter added to the great atmosphere. The food was delicious - my husband and I split an omelet that was chock-full of ham, served with perfectly toasted Italian bread and hash browned potatoes. The coffee was also quite good. If you're looking for a fairly simple, and quite delicious, breakfast in a great atmosphere, I recommend this place. read more

I always drive by the place and always wondered about it. Today, my boy friend and I had lots of time in our hands and after pondering where to go to eat, he couldn't come up with a place. Asking me I suggested we try Fireside Café. Off we went and not sure of what it had to offer, and before entering, I took a gander at the menu posted to the window by the door. They serve breakfast and we went in. The café has a nice homey and rustic appearance. I adored the thick wooden chairs at the table we sat at. I ordered the Elgin's Omlete with wheat toast and it was elegant and delicious. Ordering was easy and service was fast. I feel the prices are a tad high but it was money well worth spending. I recommend Fireside café and would for sure eat here again. read more

Very good quality homemade food in generous portions. Very attentive and friendly service. Very reasonable prices, my wife and I and three kids ate plenty of breakfast for $40. Nice little touches like a kids' breakfast menu that was easy to order from but still had great variety (order one thing from each of the three columns.
