Went here for a small wedding rehearsal dinner and was not impressed. The drinks were very obviously diluted, basic snack food like salsa and hummus didn't taste right at all, and the dinner was mostly cheap pasta dishes. The service was decent but the general ambiance was very loud because of the high ceilings. They also started turning the lights off to force everyone out even though people were already starting to leave, which just seemed a bit rude. I got the impression that they were really trying to cut corners in the food and service. So overall, I would not recommend this place. 2 stars Edit: My husband got food poisoning so down to 1 star. read more

The inside of the restaurant, very large, was re-done very well, Uni-Sex and clean bathrooms, very nice atmosphere with friendly staff. Hostess sat us at a back table and Danielle greeted us as our server. Fresh Coffee, that tasted great was poured and refilled and refilled, with staff walking around to refill, which I think is missed at a lot of "Brunch" - Breakfast places. Spouse tried their Quiche Lorraine which she enjoyed very much with a salad on the side. I had their 3 Little Pigs (Ham, Bacon, Sausage) 12-inch pancake pizza with mozzarella cheese and yes Fresh Maple Syrup was served with it, which was large and good Steak & Eggs and Hamburger, I also understand from folks was very good but their home and french fries that I saw on plates looked fantastic. So, for my overall review - Great service - lots of staff checking on you, Excellent food - Unique but great menu for Brunch - reasonable prices for the size of the portion and quality. I understand their Friday Fish Fry is very good and we plan a re-visit both for Brunch again and for a Friday dinner. read more

I recently attended my daughter and her fiancé's rehearsal dinner at the Mason Jar. The staff were beyond excellent and professional. Joanne, a manager, was so accommodating to all of the guests. She was non-stop, in constant motion, as she went from table to table, offering her services. Joanne made sure that every guest was satisfied and comfortable during this important celebration. The food was served buffet style. The couple was gluten free, so cauliflower casserole and eggplant parm were served along with delicious chicken and baked salmon. Every dish was fantastic. Thanks to Mason Jar and devoted employee Joanne, it was a beautiful night to remember. read more

My daughter had her wedding here and it was really nice. A very cool looking place inside. Cozy and clean. They worked hard to make it special and the service was great. The food was really good also. I liked the cordon blue chicken. The brisket was just absolutly delicious and got seconds. Overall a decent place for a small wedding or any event. They should put a gazebo in the back for event pictures. I highly recommend this venue. read more

This is a very bad review and I don't normally give lousy reviews so I want to begin with a few caviats. The Mason Jar is a relatively new restaurant/bar and they're only open on weekends. That means their staff is largely part time and the restaurant itself is still trying to find its niche among other established eateries in the area. We'd been looking forward to trying out the Mason Jar for some time, and we took a chance on a Saturday night while were coming back from the airport. The first impression was positive because the owners had obviously invested in some unique decor. For instane, as you enter there is a very tall iron stove built by Oneida Castings. We were immediately seated and a server came to the table a few minutes later to take drink orders. We were a party of two. That's when things started going down hill. After waiting about 25 minutes for two Bloody Marys I flagged down the waitress and asked about the status of our drinks. She hadn't placed the order, so she apologized and put the order in with the bar. After another 15 minutes we got the drinks, which were actually quite good (we asked for hot and spicy drinks and they delivered -- 40 minutes after arriving). After waiting another 10 minutes, a soup appetiser came for one of us, but my salad didn't arrive at the same time. After waiting another 15 minutes (we've now been there over an hour) I flagged the waitress down again and asked about the salad. She then brought the salad out. It was good, but the dressing was strangely drenched in oil. Our dinners came after we had been there about an hour and twenty minutes and my meatloaf entree was inedible. The kitchen staff had marinated it in cumin and poured a sauce over the meat apparently without ever doing a taste test. Neither of us could tolerate it. The sides were just as bad. As an apology the kitchen sent out a flatbread. Sadly, it was just as poorly conceived as the meatloaf. It had a sickly sweet fish sauce sprinkled on top and the bread was undercooked. It should also be noted that the restroom was situated so its entry door was right there against the dining room wall and its large door was open for the entire time we were in the dining room (unless, of course, someone used it). Some tables were just a few feet away. Any owner with an ouce of sense would place the doorways to the restrooms down a hallway so that people using them could enjoy additional privacy, but also so the entire dining room wouldn't be subjected to the very real potential of a fellow diner dropping a nuclear deuce and the rest of the guests being forced to deal with the aftermath wafting out into the dining area. The staff were never rude and apologized for each infraction, but there were so many it really didn't matter. Their best intentions couldn't make up for their unrelenting incompetence. They didn't chage us for the apology flatbread, or two additional Bloody Marys, so at least we weren't forced to pay dearly for our abuse. I would like to note that our experience may have been singular because I didn't notice other diners complaining, or appearing upset or digusted. Other parties that came in after us were served long before us, so delayed service didn't appear to be a universal failure. In short, our experience may have been some kind of misalignment of the stars, a passing black hole, or a some gypsy curse because it didn't seem to be shared by all the guests. I had pretty high-hopes for this place, as there seemed to be a bit of "buzz" about it with the re-opening. I was hoping to get some a hearty breakfast, at a decent price, without the drive to New Hartford or beyond. However, both of my visits have not been an overly enjoyable experience. The first visit was when The Mason Jar first reopened and was quite busy. As such, there was limited interaction with the waitress and wishes were not very quickly fulfilled. This led to food not only taking a great deal of time to arrive after ordering, but one meal was so cold from sitting that it was inedible. The rest of the food was OK at best. The second experience was much more laid back, with food arriving promptly and not too much traffic until the end of the visit. Though this went much more smoothly, there were some major flaws that have led me to likely never return; the food wasn't great, and was over-priced. I got the biscuits and gravy for $8.99 which, surprisingly, came with no eggs or other sides at all. I ordered 2 eggs, over-medium with it. When it arrived, I was underwhelmed by the serving size. I'm not a huge person, but I like to eat. This was about one country style (medium-small) biscuit, cut in half with some sausage gravy over it; on top of which I had to pay an extra $2.99 for any eggs. My wife got one of the "MJ Tot bowls". I can see the allure, as well as the desire to want to like this meal, but this was so heavy and filling that it was hardly enjoyable. These meals have the most potential that I've seen, but are really mostly fluff with the tater-tots and waffles. Overview/TLDR: 1. Food is sub-par - 4/10 2. Service is not great - 5/10 3. Was looking forward to trying this "new" transformation of an old favorite. Nice update and glad that seating is not overly crowded. Unfortunately, food did not deliver to the hype. Sliders arrived cold (basically a frozen white castle burger). French onion soup was extremely salty and the bread pudding was burnt on the bottom and dry. Over priced and poor quality of food. Waitress was ok, but seemed as if she would have rather been anywhere else. May try for a fish fry, but definitely not worth the hype. Disappointed! read more

We were so excited to finally get dinner at the Mason Jar. We were seated and I noticed that the water glass I had lipstick on it. Our nachos were very good, the dinners were okay but not awesome. What a surprise! Walked in after visiting the nearby shooting reserve. I was served a Manhattan with Bacon and what a great cocktail. The barkeep was friendly. Helped me out with directions to various casinos in the area. The staff was friendly and warm. I had a haddock dish that was sumptuous. I'm from NYC and environs and this place was second to nothing in Gotham for Pub food and atmosphere. The facility is gorgeous and patrons are greeted by an outdoor fireplace. Just had the absolute WORST experience at the Mason Jar. I was excited to go there for brunch with my husband today after having great experiences in the past at this restaurant. Today I ordered the "Jarhead" and was presented with black/burnt hashbrowns, rock hard and extremely dry waffles that I could barely cut through, and hot chocolate that was basically just pure water. It was just absolutely awful. My waitress was friendly, but when I asked to speak with a manager to see if they would be able to make it right, the manager Dave, came to my table with a bad attitude and after I expressed my concern about my meal he said "okay cool" he took my plate and said "have a nice day." I was hoping to see if they would at least give me a plate of food that was edible... but he was not accommodating at all but acted rather insulted that I was pointing out the flaws in the food they are serving to paying customers.... A few minutes after Dave was nonaccomodating, rude and unconcerned, he actually came back to my table to tell me that he ate my food that I sent back and that it was "fine" and that everyone else likes what they serve and that I just must have a "different" taste. I have never been spoken to like this before by a manager before and I am very disappointed in this awful service and will most likely never come back. read more

The Mason Jar looks very nice. But we went in for dinner and the food and service was frankly terrible. We were seated promptly and waited a reasonable time for our server to come to the table. We placed our order and then waited and waited. Finally, I asked our server about our drink order and she said she forgot to put it in with the bar. Our drinks arrived and then my soup shortly after. We then waited 45 minutes for the meals while we watched others who arrived after us get their food pay and leave. The hostess came to our table and asked if every thing was OK. About five minutes later our meals arrived. My meal was good my friends was not. It tasted terrible to the point it was inedible. We were also served an appetizer with our dinner that we did not order. It came with an apology for our wait. It was ice cold and the worst flatbread combo I have ever tasted. We contacted the Mason Jar recently, looking for a location to hold a reception for family and friends following a funeral service. They immediately called us back, arranged an amazing menu, and were superbly attentive and organized. It all came together on short notice and the event went off without a hitch - great food, friendly staff, fabulous atmosphere. They really came through for us and provided a bright light at a sad time. We can't thank Dave and Joanne enough. You and your team are amazing!!! read more
