The Fish House is great! Next door to their Fish market they have a great menu of soul food items. The service was great. The woman who took our order was patient and friendly while ordering. I ordered the regular Whiting plate (2 pieces) with fried okra and green beans. My fiancé ordered the large whiting plate (3 pieces) with potato salad and baked beans. That FISH was fried perfectly and the sides were a good balance to the fish. The variety of hot sauces available to try on our fish was cool. I love hot sauce so that might make me bias. We both cleaned our plates! Looking forward to coming back to try more! The pork chop and catfish along with their Mac and cheese are on the list to try! Definitely give this place a go!

So glad I found this fish market. Fresh local seafood . I bought flounder and it was delicious and fresh. Shrimp was excellent. I live in the Garner/Raleigh area and this place is now my go to fish market. Great customer service. They have a Facebook page and a web site. They had blue crabs this past week that looked really good.

You'll find these in the frozen case.

We wanted crab cakes, but didn't want to pay outlandish restaurant prices, so we bought a pound of lump crab meat here yesterday and made our own. The owner was friendly and obviously proud of the small, neat, clean shop. Fresh seafood prices are well marked, and he had some frozen and packaged items, too. The best part--the crab meat was perfect! Fresh, lump, practically no shell. He even put ice in the bag for us, since it was a hot day. The Fish House is a fabulous place to shop local!

1st time here. Would recommend to everyone who loves to cook fresh Fish. Heard about them through Facebook & next day morning I went to check it. It's a very neat & organized place. Fish is very fresh & you could pick & check. Owner is very helpful & very friendly. If you love Crabs, go on Friday mornings, they sell "the fresh " Crabs.

Finally was able to check this place out and so glad we did. All the seafood was fresh and reasonably priced. We got sashimi grade tuna and nice sized fresh scallops for a yummy seafood dinner. Both were tender and delicious! The gentlemen working and running the place were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back. Thanks guys!

Great selection of fish. If you use their frozen, it can have a bit different texture than fresh. Be sure to go early.

We came to Cape Fear Seafood Company in Cary for a Valentine's Day dinner…read more We've been wanting to try this place for a while. Super excited to finally get in to check it out. We made reservations ahead of time online since it was a Holiday. First off the front staff was super friendly and got us to our table right away. Love the feel and the decor. The lighting was a tad dark but that's ok. It was still cozy and romantic. Our waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable. They had a special Valentine's Day menu. She ran down the specials by memory. She took our drink and appetizer order ( the calamari fritti) gave us time to check out the rest of the expansive menu. The drinks came and our app. The lemonades were very sweet and nicely tart from the real fruit purée and lemons. Delightful! The calamari fritti was a knock out, home run. The breading was delicious. The calamari was nice and tender. The marinara was so good. Get this is you like calamari! For our mains we got the Sea bass special with the creamy risotto and asparagus and the figure 8 stuffed Flounder. Lemme tell you...This place knows sea food. What an incredible experience. The sea bass Valentine's Day menu special was cooked to perfection. So flaked and moist. Seared and seasoned perfectly. They should add it to the main menu. The risotto was amazing. Creamy and flavorful. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. The figure 8 stuffed flounder was delicious as well. The crab stuffing was absolutely great! The sauce over top was creamy and worked perfectly with the flounder and crab. It came with the most delicious fresh green beans with a couple nicely seasoned tomatoes. The rice pilaf was also really nice. Around this time I realized the Valentine's Day menu had Oysters Rockefeller ... and I love oysters Rockefeller. So I put in for an order of those. Best oysters Rockefeller I've had in a long time! Add these to the menu! For dessert... we ordered the apple crumb at vanilla bean ice cream. Perfect way to end out meal. We cannot wait to come back and try the rest of the menu! Save us a table! Kudos to the staff and chef / cooks. Yall did an amazing job.

Bottom line: A good meal experience here at the Cary location of Cape Fear Seafood Company. The…read moremini crab cakes were a perfect starter and I enjoyed their very flavorful but not spicy version of their popular shrimp & grits. Nice atmosphere inside, but recommend reservations as they fill up quickly. The Deets: Some friends/coworkers and I decided to catch up over a meal and we decided on trying out this location of Cape Fear Seafood Co. on Lake Pine Drive. I had been to the one located in the Village District (formerly Cameron Village) of DTR in the past and knew of this one opening up through Yelp. If you know me, I am usually not one for seafood but remember I had a pretty good experience at the one in DTR. We noted that it would be a good idea to have a reservation so one was made. Good thing, this place gets crowded fast, even around the 5pm point. Upon arrival, we were promptly shown to a table with menus. While walking in, this restaurant has that beach type feeling with brightly painted areas and subtle pelagic decor without going overboard. The bar area gave a warm, inviting vibe. Back to the menu, their menu is pretty expansive but not over the top multiple pages. I think even the non-seafood lover can find something to like here. We started with hush puppies for the table and I went with the appetizer sized mini crab cakes for myself. I loved the mini crab cakes and the lemon beurre blanc sauce with them, just enough for a starter and tasted great. The hush puppies were good as well but just a tiny bit too brown for me, they were a little bit more done than I'd like. I like them more of a golden finish instead of brown, just my preference. For my main dish, I went with their Cape Fear Shrimp & Grits. They are a pretty popular choice here and I remember liking them at the DTR location. They remained a great choice, they were delicious. They are very flavorful and enjoyable without being spicy, which I like as I am non-spicy food person and it seems most everywhere does their shrimp & grits spicy. I find this take on them refreshing. I would have liked more cheese grits in the serving as it seems to be like a half serving, however the shrimp as well as the creamy sauce were plentiful. Service did a good job here, checking on us periodically. In all, I liked this experience here at Cape Fear Seafood Co. for the most part and would enjoy visiting again in the future.

I got so much seafood for my seafood boil to take home and I didn't break bank. The seafood was fresh and LIVE! Definitely worth it. While I was there O picked up lunch too since I was making the seafood boil for dinner. They fry or steamed your fresh fish there! Let me tell you, it was worth it. The combo meals are where you want to go. You get a bit of everything. Crab cakes were STUFFED with crab rather than just breading! The fried okra was crispy, crunchy. The calamari was crispy and tender! Not chewy at all! The hush puppies were seasoned! And didn't taste like just fried dough, the plantains were sweet and tender. Finally the fish! Buttery, flakey, juicy, tender, BUT with a CRISPY light breading! So much better than other places where they over bread their food and all you get is breading! Would come here again for their food and their fresh seafood to take home!

Although it still seems to be getting itself organized, there's a lot of potential here for anyone wanting to shop local. I spoke to one of the owners (Carol) during my visit, who proudly explained their goal was to source as much from North Carolina as they could. And for those few things not from NC, nearby states were represented. It's late in the season for produce, but Carden still has some nice winter squash from the NC mountains and tomatoes available. And unshelled pecans -- a southern staple -- are sitting in a bin outside the door. NC honey, clover and wildflower, is available inside. What makes Carden unique is the non-food inventory: bird houses made with real tree bark and moss, local firewood, and the natural soaps from the "home farm" Carden Farms in Franklinton, and various made-in-NC (or USA) knicknacks. The natural sponges from Florida are larger than I'd expected; and the local (from Apex) hand-made crochet scrubs are cute and equally as colorful as their box-store counterparts, but sans synthetics. In the other half of the store is a freezer with local grass-fed meats and a cooler with eggs, all reasonably priced. Eventually, as Carden gets fully up and running in this location, they plan on adding breads, cheeses, and boiled peanuts. I'm not sure when this will all happen as they're still working hard to organize everything. And surprisingly, to complete the total farmers market concept, according to their website, Carden will also offer North Carolina seafood on Saturdays. I can't wait to watch this shop expand and hope it becomes a nice alternative to the trek to the Raleigh Farmers Market.
