I love Yatai Market. It located in the Transfer Co food hall in Downtown Raleigh and serves asian fusion food. I've been there a couple of times now and it was always a good experience. Their sushi rolls are always fresh and good quantity. They tend to go heavy on the sauce on the rolls so I ask light sauce which is perfect. My favorite items that I will recommend are the Raleighs Best, Chicken Karaage Buns and the Birria Buns. They also have different daily specials from Ramen to wine/sake or beer. Got the quesabirria taco and the let's roll. Roll was good, but there was no tail on the tempura shrimp which surprised me. I'm guessing some people would like that, but I missed it. It was drowning in the sauces so I just wiped it off, but good nonetheless. The quesabirria taco was SO good. So crispy. Flavorful. I'll be back soon and continue dreaming of that taco!!! We stopped by the transfer food hall for lunch and I decided to check out Yatai Sushi and Taco bar. I'm super picky when ordering sushi outside of Seattle, but the reviews were excellent and so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the cucumber roll and the hamachi sushi roll. I'm super picky about my hamachi because I want it to be very fresh and the hamachi in my roll from Yatai was perfectly fresh. In fact, it's the best I've had in quite a while, even in Seattle. The rice was also perfectly cooked and the staff were very nice and helpful. A couple of other family members ordered a chirashi bowl and the crispy salmon both were beautifully presented and also delicious. Yatai is a great spot for sushi. I don't give many five-star reviews but I've given two of them today in Raleigh. Both were very well earned. read more

This is a great spot for a girls night when you have time to spare. We loved the vibe. In the evenings it's dark and moody but in a playful, fun way. We loved relaxing and ordering drinks and food as we wanted more. The staff was kind, though a little on the slow side, but this worked perfectly for us for our girls night. They offer delicious drinks that come in fun glassware/with yummy garnishes. We specifically loved the lychee martini, the pain killer and the yuzurita. Our food was great! We loved the salmon crispy rice and the pork buns to start. We ordered a second round of the crispy rice it was so good! I enjoyed the Yatai ramen and a deep creamed sushi roll. I enjoyed them both. The ramen was very flavorful. I really enjoyed the pork belly in the ramen bowl. The pork was an equal amount of lean and fat meat. The ramen temperature should be improved because this impacts the overall ramen enjoyment for me. I advised the waiter of this and she was apologetic. I hope this feedback was shared with the kitchen. I enjoyed the Shirley temple beverage. The beverage was balanced, fresh/fizzy and flavorful. I've been wanting to try this spot for a minute, so I had some free time on Monday to check out their half-price cocktails. It wasn't busy in there and parking was a breeze. I started off with the PM sakerita ,It came in a cute glass. It was ok, not strong to my liking, then I got the crack roll which was a deep fried roll and was pretty good. I finished with a strawberry lemon drop which was pretty good , again not strong to my liking. The server/bartender was very informative and helpful considering it being my first time there. Only thing I didn't like was I didn't have chopsticks/silverware and napkins when I received my food so I had to wait like five minutes. This is my second time having Yatai and I really like it! This time I got ramen and sushi, both were delicious. Last time I just got sushi and thought it was very good! Super fresh and the rolls are fun and flavorful! The ramen was delicious as well. Broth was complex and delicious. The pork was cooked nicely as well. I wish there were a few more ramen options! What an amazing place! The food was beyond delicious. What a cool creation to have both Mexican and a sushi place in one place. My husband got the Birria Ramen, which was superb, even my two year-old ate some of it. We ordered several rolls and they had a 50% off cocktails special so my husband and I got to enjoy not only delicious sushi and Ramen, but as well as two nicely poured drinks. The environment and atmosphere was super cool and they also had the FIFA soccer game playing which made it feel fun and cool. FYI it's in the main building with a bunch of other food places, so you're bound to also get dessert! The customer service at this place was also 10/10! Every time I visit I get my usual order: fish tacos and crispy rice salmon roll. The tacos are a decent size but definitely not enough to fill up on. They are flavorful and topped with fresh ingredients. The crispy rice salmon roll is delicious as well. It's a unique roll that is topped with salmon tartare, garlic aioli, and radishes. What I love most about this place is everything is fresh to order and the quality of food is good. The prices are average and the service is always excellent. We came here on a Thursday night and was suprised to see they had daily specials! it was $4 off rolls (was a little disappointed it wasn't off speciality rolls as it didn't specify which rolls), but we still got 1 speciality roll & 2 traditional rolls. We've been eagerly awaiting the opening of Yatai in Transfer Food Hall. Situated right across from Benchwarmers, Yatai has an order counter, a bar counter, and an entire inside seating area. The seating area wasn't open at lunch so we're excited to come back and try it out - perfect date night vibes. They also have really yummy sounding cocktails. I have no idea whats going on with the cashier and female bartender.. I was ordering to go, after placing my order was told that the Apple Pay doesn't work. I need a physical credit card so I had to go back to my car a few blocks down the road. I asked the woman to please put the order in and I would absolutely come back. I also wanted to have a beer while I waited for my order and I told her if she could please serve me my beer before the food came out. she said OK. I came back with my card, paid - she had to manually input it into her register. Beer still nowhere to be found. I asked her again. She said that I had to go talk to the bartender. BUT I had brought my dog in with me and didn't wanna walk past the people sitting in tables to get to the bartender. I told her the situation and she said OK and she still just refused to go and talk to the bartender. She had no more customers and the bartender lol lol who was putting glasses away and cleaning glasses. My food came, no beer, the cashier wouldn't even approach the register anymore so I asked a waiter to refund me the money for my beer which he did. I don't know what's going on with the bartender and the cashier, but very unprofessional to say the least. However, that is as much positive I can give to this place. The price is overpriced, the karaage is not even right. The ramen soup is garbage ( coming from Japanese that ate lots of terrible ramen) and noodles are like packaged product. Just stay away if you longing for good food.
