Lovely Fish store with variety of fishes, plants for good price. The store is in conner and doesn't have many parking spots, most are street parking. The store has so many fishes, plants both freshwater and salt water and aquarium supplies. Their price is pretty good compared to other stores I went to. The pond at the back is almost very nice. Yes, sometimes it gets busy and you have to wait for service; yes, in the summertime it gets hot because you don't really want to over-air-condition a building full of delicate live fish and plants; and yes, it's on a busyish corner and parking kinda sucks. I'm not sure what this is called and it may not have a name. On Robinson a few blocks from the Farmers Market. The business is a tropical fish store and the mural looks like waves sort of. They have pained the busking trim to match and the result is very nice. This mural looks pretty new. It feels like two different ones based on the side you are looking at. Never a bad experience here. I've purchased tanks, pumps and filters, fish food, and other accessories. Each time I've asked a staff member a question, they've been ready to help and knowledgeable. I'll happily go the extra miles out of my way because I know The Fish Place will always have a good stock of fresh aquarium plants to replenish my tank. Previously, they've helped me get my most recent tank set up by providing bacteria, and I didn't even have to ask for it ( if you have fish you know this is a great thing). So today I ran out to The Fish Place to replace a fish the had kicked the bucket. We've bought dozens of fish from here, and only lost a few due to issues establishing one of our tanks. Prices are competitive. If you're looking for tetras, and want to mix it up from the usual neons and glowlights, they have other variations I hadn't even heard of like kitty tetras. I normally don't get as excited about pets you can't cuddle but the variety makes for a more interesting tank. They also have a great assortment of decorations that seem more reasonably priced, and saltwater fish. Maybe not the best place for beginners or anyone with a lot of questions, but a solid choice if you are just there to pick up healthy fish you can't find elsewhere. read more

Went here with a coworker for a quick stop in and wandered around for a bit. They have ALOT of things in this store and what seems to be a nice selection of fish and other aquatic creatures like frogs. The only thing that got me about the store is the lack of cleanliness. Stuff one the right side where the decor for tanks were just everywhere on shelves that haven't been cleaned in forever..(super dusty) and the presentation of the fish tanks was a little chaotic. Narrow aisles and messy floors. But beyond that, the staff were cool and knowledgeable and they do have a ton of stuff. If you want healthy fish, don't go anywhere else! I've never had an issue with fresh water fish from here. My shopping experience here is always incredible, the selection of fish is amazing, the only negative thing i can say is, I drop a few extra bucks every time I go! Loaches are my passion in the fish world. The knowledge of the workers has made me the successful fish keeper I am today. The loaches I care for are clowns, yo-yo, dojo, hill stream, kuhli, horse face, polkadot, zipper, etc.. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. But please if I can give anyone advice in fish keeping, take the time to go shop here! It's absolutely amazing! I've made 2 trips to this establishment now and had the same experience both times. It's pretty big, there's a huge assortment of freshwater and salt water fish, lots of supplies, pretty much everything you need. That being said, the staff are by far the most bored, uninterested and terse people I've ever met. Every question is met with an air of condescension and impatience and getting more than 2 words out of any of them is an exercise in futility. Yes or no answers after a long look of clear arrogance and exasperation, no one smiles, no one chats, they can't wait to get you out the door. No helpful tips, no recommendations, not a single question about your home set up. It makes you feel like they'd rather you hadn't bothered coming in. My 13 year old commented on the drive home, "That guy really hates his job, huh?" Pretty sad. I'll stick with going to Mystic Blue where the staff are always welcoming and friendly and will chat with you as long as you like about your aquarium needs and do all they can to find solutions to any problems you're having. They're full of helpful advice, speak at length about the fish and are eager to make suggestions. It might be a smaller store but you always leave feeling better for the visit. read more

I have been shopping at the fish place for about 10 years. And here and there a new employee would do or say something stupid. But never enough to make me not want to return. but today was the worse. I bought a filter from there last week and it randomly stopped working. I did everything to fix the filter and it still doesn't work so I brought it back with the receipt today. The owner helped me unfortunately. he took the filter apart and said maybe something just got stuck. I said yeah that's cool I just need to filter. That works I don't care if you get this one to work or unstick it or whatever the case. but he then proceeded to put my filter in one of his tanks without saying anything to me to test out the pump, not the actual filter in one piece. Then when I asked him if he just put my pump in his fish tank, he said yeah I needed to see if it worked. I said OK well we can just throw it out then because you just contaminated your fish with my pump in my pump with your fish. He looked at me and told me there was nothing wrong with that water. Then couldn't figure out how to put the filter back together. I grabbed my filter and left. Needless to say though every time I buy some thing from there it had to be quarantine because it either has snails parasites or disease which is fine. I get it you on a fish place. You can't quarantine everything before you sell it so yes, I'm extremely worried about now having to put a pump in my tank that you just contaminated. read more

The Fish Place is amazing! Every one of the staff is so knowledgeable. They tend to be busy, so you may have to wait a bit, BUT this gives you time to select the fish you are interested in adding to your aquarium and have your questions ready. My husband and I have learned so much in the last year. With their guidance and advice we now maintain a 55 gallon and 5 gallon tank and have just introduced live plants. Once you get the maintenance routine, it is so relaxing to watch the fish and fun to arrange and try new items in the tanks. I have been to this place many times over the past 3 years. Every time I go I want to leave asap because the staff sucks. It's like they look down on you and are a pest for just looking around. When you ask to pick out a few fish they give you a look like you just asked them to do the most annoying thing in the world. Don't even bother asking questions you'll get one word answers. If I don't ask questions i've had them ask me if I even know what I'm doing or know anything about the fish I'm purchasing. They won't even try to educate you on anything. One visit, a fish caught my eye and I asked a staff member for more info and how well it would pair with my fish at home. He told me to buy it and just see what happens. That fish ended up killing off half my tank. To add to all of this it's also hot as hell in there and grimy. That being said you might ask why I still go... unfortunately they do have the nicest selection of fish in the area and are fairly close to my house. read more

This was one of my favorite stores before today, one that I would seek out if I was anywhere near the area. But today, they were feeding the fish in the middle of the day. If I lived 10 or 15 minutes away, this would not be a problem. But if I were to buy any fish on this day, they would be in the bag for at least 30 hours. The waste accumulation in the bag would kill them long before that. I know this place knows that they get people from quite a distance away to their store, there is no reason that the fish should be fed before the store closes, which would give them a chance to clear their digestive tract before being bagged. Poor practice. I would have spent $100+ if I hadn't seen that today, instead I left without even finishing looking through the store. read more

So this place is freakin awesome. Not the prettiest but man they have quite the selection of freshwater and saltwater fish. I've noticed they seem to have a few fish that are more rare that you don't usually see. I started a tank about a month ago and the fish from there have been fantastic. Healthy and active. The people that work there are full of knowledge and are very helpful weather your a pro or a newbie to the hobby. They may not be the friendliest but hey, that's what you get at places like this that are a local favorite and it's totally fine with me. I can see how some people may not like it but come on now, get over it. I have to say their prices are pretty reasonable too. I bought 75lbs of gravel, a test kit, some tools, and 20 or so fish and it was all under $100. Pretty good if you ask me. So wether your in the neighborhood or not and you have fish tanks of your own it's definitely worth it to stop in here. read more

Though this place is hot and humid inside - no duh - it is perhaps the best fish place around - if they don't have it - you won't find it locally! I did have a little issue with the canister pump/filter I purchased and didn't enjoy the hour long drive back from Silver Creek - at least the staff are knowledgeable enough to solve my problem quickly! The only reason I am not giving it a 5 star right now is because of the distance away from it and that little glitch I had with the canister - PLUS it will make me return on a happier occation! read more

I literally have to set a budget for myself everytime I go which is often. These folks are running a quality fish store and they're super busy so no they don't have time to give you a happy ending before you leave! You can't get this kind of stuff at Petco or PetSmart. I'm tired of the mantra that a business has to deep kiss your ass and for all the folks complaining but saying it had interesting stuff... If I can give 0 stars I would. This place is over-rated for fish. I only go there for saltwater fish/coral, and been there numerous times, and each time the experience has been the same (lucky for me I only spent my money there once). They all have an attitude and sell you whatever you want. The fat guy named Tom that looks all sweaty and stinks really thinks he knows everything. Do not trust them or their advice. Get a second opinion at Saltwater Paradise or Areefcreations. Don't put up with their "know-it-all" attitude, there are better stores around and appreciate your money more and have way better quality fish and coral. read more

I have spent a boat load of money in that store and for the most part I have had a good experience. However I have come across this employee Jack who turns out to be a manager and he is so rude. The first time I had to deal with him it was an hour long lecture on why he would not refund my money on fish I bought the day before that died. He finally did give me my money after all of his degrading comments and me sticking to my guns because he was in the wrong. Today we go in to buy fish we pick out 3 fish and my partner asked him a few questions about them and here he goes with his rude comments. My partner blows him off and we move on. We wanted to get more fish and one of the fish I wanted looked sick so I asked if the fish was sick because what I thought he had I have only read about and have never seen. So he is just putting me down left and right after his 20 minute rant my partner says to him "why are you being such so rude ? That's no way to talk to people and run a business." So he blows her off and say are you going to buy these fish or what? My partner says not any more. So she marches up to the other worker and asks for a manager well he is the manager. So I ask for the owners info and they won't give it to us. Now Jack the manager that was rude to us comes over and says how he's had to fire two mangers and he has worked 80 hrs and us asking questions is wasting his time and customers are do nothing but cause problems. He was just yelling at my partner and I got upset because he is up in her face saying that she was being difficult because she asked questions. I told him that they were good question and he just yelled over me. So I yelled back and told him not to talk over me and never talk to her or me or any other customers like that again. Part of his job is to answer people's questions. I was able to get the owners name and what he says is the office numbers but I don't think it's the right #. Then he told me his job is to tell me to never come back and if I didn't leave he would call the cops. So I told him to fuck off and I left. If you want sick fish and to be treated less than human then this is the store for you and don't forget to ask for Jack to get the true experience. read more
