Love Cajun Joes! This is my go-to place for party wings and rice! No more Manchu. I LOVE the chicken. So crispy. I've had a smoke sausage sandwich and shrimp poboy as well but my go to is the chicken wing plate. I can never choose between rice and fries so I just get both. The food is good and also very adorable. Big portions on plates, enough to share! You also get your food quickly and it's always hot and fresh. So this is the kind of place that is probably not for everyone. I was not too far away in the 9th Ward, and it was lunchtime, so I went on Yelp to try to find some good grub. Cajun Joe's came up. Their food is amazing. It is run by Asians and is extremely popular in the community. I waited in a line both to order and to receive my food. No problem. I ordered the smallest combination seafood order, which was one piece of fish (huge, by the way) and six shrimp. You have the option of ordering fried rice, which they do perfectly, and I highly recommend. A nice change from french fries. It is a huge amount of delicious food for a very reasonable price. So here is the part that might make people uncomfortable - - if I had to guess I would say that no one more Caucasian than I visited this restaurant today. I come here once a month to indulge my inner fat kid the 8 wings and rice combo always hits the spot. The shrimp fried rice is "on fleek" as the kids say but the combo can be a bit salty. This is not a sit-down have a date place, it's all about in and out and spending as little money as possible. This place HITS THE SPOT when you're cruising around the Lower Nine on a bike and need something to eat. I had a dressed shrimp po boy and it was DELICIOUS. The shrimp was fresh, the bread was fantastic, and the spicy chili sauce on the side rocked. I also loved that this is a total hangout for locals. So many people came in to get lunch while I was waiting for mine, and everyone knew each other, was super friendly, and it was clear that the customers and woman working the counter respected one another as well. Just had a great shrimp poboy from here. Actually had 1/2 poboy because the thing was HUGE. Most important thing to know is this isn't your average Sysco frozen fried shrimp junk. Stopped in here for Shrimp Po Boy, although I was severely tempted by other things on the menu board. However, I'm glad I kept it simple because the Po Boy was huge, fresh, delicious and very reasonably priced. There were many people coming in to pick up dinner, but my sandwich was made quickly.
