    Mmmmm soup time

This was a find strictly using the old Google/Yelp fingers. I had been speaking with some locals about "The Old Sober" aka - Yaka Mein and began looking for places nearby that served it. After checking photos and reviews I decided that Today's Cajun Seafood was the one I wanted to try. I ordered a beef Yaka Mein, A pork boudin, and a crawfish pie. We had just gotten poured on and I was so looking forward to this hot food. There were a few little tables inside, but this is definitely more geared towards takeout. Either way, we ate it there. That Yaka Mein was everything I had hoped it would be. The beef was tender and there was plenty of it, it came with one boiled egg but I added a second one and next time I may even add a third, the noodles were cooked well, there were a lot of scallions, and the broth was hot and flavorful. Literally all I wanted out of that dish, I got. The crawfish pie was fantastic too...I don't think I'll ever go back here without getting another one of those too. Delicious fragrant mix inside of a pastry shell and fried up...exactly what you'd expect it to be. The boudin was good but honestly unremarkable, I probably would pass on that next time and try some more stuff out. Today's Cajun Seafood - Didn't Suck!

Picked this place for a quick delivery. Since we ordered online a delivery app - each plate was $11.99 for the entree and 2 sides. I ordered Pineapple BBQ chicken, shrimp pasta, and smothered cabbage. My food was good - not excellent but good. The chicken was a little dry but still good. My husband ordered fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and red beans. He really liked the red beans but the chicken was a bit dry for him as well - still good though. Overall, for a quick inexpensive lunch we would give them another shot.

I found this because it was highly rated - just outside the French Quarters. You can't beat these prices. Seems like it's Chinese run/influenced. Also fast food, but great spot if you're on the run. Hits the spot. Gumbo was a bit smaller, but for $3.99 you can't expect too much. With real chunks of chicken, shrimp, sausage, celery. They throw the rice directly in. You can taste the black pepper. 12" Po Boy. Freshly deep fried shrimp. The rest is a sandwich. Lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo. Toasty bun. This is the definition of a poor boy. It needs the extra condiments - ketchup and hot sauce.

Native Californian reviewing New Orleans food: This place is solid. Saw a bunch of locals lined up here so it had to be good. Honestly, my favorite was the fried catfish poboy and spaghetti. Catfish just felt so nice and healthy, hot out of the frier, and doesn't make you feel heavy after. Spaghetti reminded me of childhood. This was the best seafood gumbo I've had in New Orleans, but I've only had it 3 times. Shrimp pasta was good but not particularly spectacular. I wouldn't get the crawfish pie again. The crust was very nicely made, but I just didn't feel like the filling tasted like much. Wasn't very impressed. Overall a great hole in the wall spot I stumbled upon because it was next to the bus stop and close by. Great for takeout!

Fried catfish, cabbage, and green beans

We went here last year (we saw it while on the Hop On-Hop Off bus tour so we hopped off). I had the catfish with cabbage and green beans and it was most excellent! The decor leaves something to be desired, especially the bathroom, but there were zero complaints about the food.

Definitely not what I expected! The food was delicious but slightly questionable. I chose from the buffet I got fried chicken w green beans, potatoes, and a singular spring roll. They had bottle drinks and small amount of seating. The food had a good price and I would come back!

Can't give this place anything but 5 stars. The food was delicious!!! Friendly fast service. The place is like cafeteria style take out with options to eat inside if you like. I got two pork chops with the double side of broccoli & cheese. The other food looked really good too but I wanted to stay low carb. The pork was delicious with grilled onions and the broccoli & cheese was excellent too. All this for $12 to go, couldn't be beat!!

glad to have found this place within walking distance of my accommodations in New Orleans over New Year's. Definitely a local joint and not much to look at but the food was delicious and the price was fair. The first time I went, I ordered more Chinese-food items from the steam table. The second time I went, I got the small gumbo and shrimp po boy pictured. Definitely recommend.

I have passed by this place countless times and wanting to give it a try. One of the best decisions I ever made. One day my friend decided to take me there. As I stepped inside the restaurant you could smell the mouth watering good food smell hovering in the air. I ordered a Honey Chicken Combo with a piece of cornbread. I was ready to dig in my food. It was interesting bc all their usual to go boxes ran out. It wasn't going to stop this good smelling food I'm ready to devour. The service was awesome the Nawlins lady had the accent we all love to hear. They were absolutely amazing with hospitality and being helpful for a first timer.

In A Nutshell: -Today's Cajun Seafood is a local restaurant located in the Marigny neighborhood. -You'll find some cheat eats that will make you full. -I came here w/ some young peeps I met visiting from Europe. -We all ordered their 3 item combo which came out to $12 including tax. -You you can choose from several of their items, which was a mix of Louisiana comfort food & Chinese food. -I also noticed they sold Vietnamese pho. -I got a couple pieces of baked chicken, broccoli & cabbage. -They fill up the styrofoam container to the brim so you get your money's worth. Overall, it's small, dingy restaurant, so only come if you want a good deal on some comfort food.

Went there for the large gumbo. It was excellent and loaded up with plenty of ingredients. It was a bit too salty for my taste but the spice level is perfect which might be too easily for the people preferring mild tasting foods. The young lady was nice and polite. Good AC and fair price. Will be back

On my trip to New Orleans for the Bayou Classic my hunt in this trip was for Yakamein. This is another staple of Nola! This place was a little tricky to find I had to drive around a couple times. I found parking but you can only park in that area for 2 hours. The location was on the corner next to a few other food spots. Parking can be a little challenging. When you walk in the food is cafeteria style but was smelling really good. It was 2 women up from serving the food. They were nice and split the line up because for the food in the front and those who wanted yakamein or a sandwich. I don't really see you sitting and eating here more a pick up and go spot it real casual and laid back. Now let's get into the good stuff, the meat was extremely moist and tender, I believe they use a roast cut. It was well seasoned and the. Broth was very rich and savory. You can tell this was cooked with love. Everything was simple the meat, scallions, spaghetti noodles and i topped it with an egg. You have your option to put soy sauce and spice hot sauce. You could taste a little soy in the broth but I definitely put some hot sauce. For me I would have topped it with Cajun seasoning for more umph!! This is a staple meal, so if you are not on that side of town to check this place out definitely try it out. It's an Asian flavor with Cajun flavor.

I ordered the shrimp po' boy, which was around $22, and was surprised it didn't come with fries. Usually places either include them or at least mention that they're separate when ordering. We also started with the charbroiled oysters, and whatever topping or seasoning was on them had this weird crunchy, crackling texture that literally felt like it was cracking against my teeth when I bit into it. I don't know if it was burnt cheese or what, but I personally could not eat more than one. The service also wasn't great during our visit. After our food was dropped off, our waiter never checked back in. I had ordered fries separately once I realized they didn't come with the sandwich, but after waiting about 10 minutes with no update, I finally got up and walked to the bar to cancel them because I was almost done eating at that point. Maybe we came at an off time, but overall it just wasn't the experience we were hoping for and probably not somewhere we'd return.

We had a spectacular dinner at Drago's Seafood Restaurant inside the Hilton New Orleans Riverside!…read moreMy husband's sister and her friend were visiting from out of town, so it was a group of five with me, my husband, our daughter, my sister-in-law, and her friend. The food overall was outstanding, and it was a great spot to take out-of-town guests. To kick things off, we started with a dozen of their legendary Charbroiled Oysters. To be completely honest, we were a little disappointed with them this time. Normally, Drago's oysters are swimming in that famous, rich garlic-butter sauce, but this batch was not as juicy and lacked that extra sauce we are used to getting. They weren't completely dry, but definitely missing that signature butteriness. On the bright side, the rest of the meal was flawless! My sister-in-law ordered a bottle of Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay for her, her friend, and me to share, which was beautifully chilled and paired perfectly with everything. For entrees, my husband and I both ordered the Boneless Beef Short Rib. It was incredibly tender--true melt-in-your-mouth perfection--served over creamy mashed potatoes with rich gravy and topped with fresh sautéed spinach. My sister-in-law got the Seafood Pasta, which was completely decadent with a rich cream sauce over angel hair and a very generous mound of sweet lump crabmeat right on top. Her friend ordered Mama Ruth's Seafood Gumbo and loved that authentic, deep New Orleans dark roux flavor. Our daughter went with the Filet Mignon, which was cooked perfectly and came with a massive plate of hot, crispy French fries that the whole table ended up happily snacking on. Despite the oysters being a bit of a letdown, the entrees, wine, and atmosphere made for a memorable night with family. We will definitely give them another try!

That was really nice of them and we were able to redeem our vouchers at the same table. Mid's: - Spinach Artichoke dip - not a fan of this one. We were all really excited for this because we all love it normally but this one seemed off.
