Visited this morning with my family! Awesome surprise! Portions were huge! No one of the 7 people could finish their food! I ordered the pancakes with strawberry and Nutella, eggs, and sausage. My aunt and cousin ordered chicken and waffles...my other aunt ordered the (forgot name) but think it was the Parish...French toast stacked high and covered in whip cream, berries, and nuts. She said it was really, really good! She could've had bananas as well but she doesn't like them. Would definitely return. Mom and pops spot so no big crowds but a few people or small group is ok. It's Lenten season and I wanted some seafood on Friday that wasn't fried. I saw this place had grilled fish and thought I'd give it a try. I called in my to go order and the person who took my order was nice. I ordered the grilled fish and shrimp which came with 2 sides. I got the green beans and side salad. I wanted Italian dressing, but they don't carry it so I settled on balsamic vinaigrette. She told me it'd probably be about 15 mins and since I live about 10 or so minutes away, I hopped in the car after I got off the phone and drove there. There were a few customers dining in but it wasn't very busy. My food was ready and sitting at the counter, so I paid and went home to eat. It was a nice sized piece of fish and a good bit of shrimp. Fish flavor was good but shrimp flavor was just okay. House salad and green beans both had pieces of bacon in them so I tried to avoid that as I ate. I believe the total was about $26 or $27. Overall it was just ok in my opinion. Some of the other items on the menu may taste better. I may try something else from them one day. read more

They have a small parking lot but after 9am you may have to park on the street. By time I parked and walked 100 feet 2 closer spots opened. I like the art and decor. You have the option of eating and the counter or. Table seating which is nice. They also accept to go orders, but they say about 45 minute wait on to orders, dine in orders have priority. Parish has good service, they were on the ball for coffee and drink refills throughout the restaurant. The food has good flavors and a very wide selection of items on the menu. I got the three egg breakfast and added sausage. The options are grits, or hash browns and toast or biscuit. They say hash browns but they are actually breakfast potatoes (cooked small cubes). I have preference for hash-brown style. But many people like the breakfast potato style. The meal was a good American breakfast diner style. The food came out timely. read more

I enjoyed my coffee and relaxed while waiting for my guests. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. We placed our orders and were served fairly quick. We stopped off in Chalmette on our way home to Austin and this little hole in the wall place was just a mile from our hotel. I was immediately excited to see it because I wanted some local food beloved by locals that had something different than fast food, breakfast, or Mexican (we are Texans, we've got amazing Mexican cuisine at home!). Parish Diner did not disappoint with a great menu, friendly staff, and the food is amazing. We got a couple appetizers, the fried ravioli and fries with roast beef debris on it, also got some gator sausage, chicken tenders, and catfish. Every single thing we ate was delicious. I cannot overstate how good this place is. If you're traveling through, please stop by and give them a try, you will NOT be disappointed. There are plenty of excellent places to eat in New Orleans, that's a given, but these smaller towns surrounding the city are well worth a visit as well because I've had the best meal of my weeklong road trip across the Deep South right here at Parish Diner. Nice quaint small little diner that is kind of hidden, but good breakfast and hospitality. The grits are buttery and creamy, def made with love. Crispy bacon, excellent over easy eggs not overcooked, large fluffy biscuits, and 20oz orange juice. What's not to love. The waitress was fast although the place was packed and she was very nice. The beignets were great very airy, not too sweet make sure to eat them fresh. The omelette was create your own but good ingredients overall. The French toast had a very prominent vanilla flavor and was very sweet but very good. The burrito chimichanga style was amazing. The burrito was very greasy should come with some salsa on the side too to cut through that. The side of hash browns was the real star in all honesty so airy and crispy the best I've ever had. The service was quick and constant attention. The tables are weirdly close together which is interesting. read more

This place is so good. Feels like your at your friends house getting a bite to eat with your crew. I sat at the bar and loved seeing how the employees interacted with all the customers. The place has a great diner vibe. It's perfect for feeling welcome. Now for the food.... I had the chicken and sausage gumbo two days in a row I enjoyed it so much. The first night I had red Beans and Rice which was really good especially paired with the Gator Sausage. The second day I had the shrimp and angel hair pasta in a really good cream sauce. I almost licked the plate clean.... While I didn't have a lot of time to try several places I would say this is the place to eat in the area hands down!!! read more

The onions rings here are amazing! The servers are pretty good they're nice and friendly. They have a long bar to sit at and a few booths I think and tables. We sat in a corner where the walls were pretty nasty, like they never clean this place at all. The garlic cheese bread was good but the "marinara" that it came with didn't quite taste like any marinara sauce I've ever had. Almost tasted Mexican like- it was strange but it wasn't bad. I got the crazy Cajun poboy which is hot sausage and fried shrimp...not a fan. I don't think those 2 things combine together too well in one, but the shrimp was good, and the sausage was ok. They definitely have some very unique menu items, combining foods together like I've never heard. I encourage others to go get their own opinion but I wasn't crazy for this spot read more

I've been having to cut back on fried/greasy/fatty foods lately, so I was excited to see that this place offers grilled and blacked options for some entries. I placed my to-go order over the phone easily enough, and has only a brief wait when I arrived before my food was ready. I got the blackened catfish with corn and rice & gravy, plus bread pudding for dessert. The fish was well cooked, nicely seasoned, and refreshing for not being fried. The bread pudding was very tasty too, with strawberries, blueberries, and white chocolate. If you're looking for seafood but don't want it fried (or boiled), give this place a try. read more

I've only gotten takeout i've never actually dined in so i can't say anything abt the customer service & personally the food is really good but the prices for what you're getting are unreal. Here i got 2 BLT Sandwiches with a side of fries & it was 19.45$ . Both my Sandwiches looked like that picture & a handful of fries ... Really. All for a good price of 19.45$ Unbelievable. When I asked for a correction, they said "this is Nutella" i know what Nutella is... they say they mix it with chocolate syrup which is not what I wanted and they insisted that it was Nutella. I also requested Hot Sausage patty and was charged and given a link which is 2 dollars more. I brought it to the server's attention and she claimed i did not specify. I opted to void the entire order since i could not get the actual Nutella that i made abundantly clear before I ordered. Stop trying to insult customers intelligence by over charging or giving them products that they did not order. Don't get me wrong, the food is great but i was not pleased at all. The two star review is mostly based on value. Still needs to be mentioned that service was at a minimum, felt like only regulars got good service. All I ordered was eggs and toast. Toast was toast, and eggs were edible, but like typical low-end diners, the eggs were dry and rubbery. The worst part, which kept this from being a three star (I expect diner food to be diner food), was the fact that for $2.50 worth of food on my plate I was charged over $12. Same order with even more food (hash browns) at Waffle House (equal quality) is $5 cheaper. At least the food came out quick. read more

All you need to know is - get the biscuits and gravy. We were in town visiting family and ate here 3 times just for the biscuits and gravy. Don't go if you're in a hurry - the atmosphere here is laid back and 'take your time'. The staff were friendly and helpful, but nobody is in a rush, and that's the way it should be when you're enjoying a nice breakfast. Take your time! read more

Customer Beware This incident happened a couple of days ago. My friend and I ordered chicken fried chicken with gravy substitutions. Before tax, the meal is $14.79. At no time were we told that the substitutions would cost more. Because we were going to split the bill later, I agreed to pay up front. When we received the bill, my friend noticed a stark difference in price. Their gravy was $2.99 more than the item price, while my meal was only $0.25 more. I mentioned the issue to the waitress. She agreed that the cost was more than the advertised price. I asked for that difference back. Because I had already paid, she stated she was not sure she could do that and offered to call the owner. I agreed. The owner stated that I could not have a refund of the price because the menu states that there will be an additional cost for substitutions. (I do not recall this and could not find an example online.) The owner also stated that because the white gravy is expensive to make, the cost is justified. My argument is that the owner need to state the cost of the substitutions whether it is on the menu or verbalized by the wait staff. The insult to injury is this receipt is not itemized. Unless one looks at the receipt closely, they would never know the price difference. If the price of the small amount of white gravy is worth an additional $2.99, be upfront about it. Give the customer an honest choice. Sadly, it is obvious that the customer, even a loyal one, is not a priority. Just a note: I have been going to the Parish Diner since it changed hands from Par 3. If the food were not delicious and the wait staff not good, this rating would have been lower. Even in this situation, the waitress listened to my issue and tried to find a solution. We came here around 11:45am on a Monday. The restaurant was pretty clean looking and it was a cute restaurant. We were greeted by a woman with blonde hair after standing at the front for a few minutes. She told us we could sit anywhere we wanted. A white family came after us. She gave them menus first. We got them after a few more minutes. Our actual waitress with the dark hair (I think her name is Monica), was very friendly and provided amazing service. I ordered an orange juice and my bf ordered apple juice. For our appetizer, we tried their onion rings. It was ok. I like the breading a lot better than the normal breading onion rings usually have. The ones with this breading are usually crispier and tastier, but these were very frail and weak. We assumed they came with sauce but we had to ask for ranch. My bf went up to the counter to ask for it and the blonde woman just looked at him and called for our waitress. She's pretty rude. For my main meal, I got the French vanilla French toast with strawberries. I also ordered a side of house hash. My bf got the chimichanga style breakfast burrito with a side of bacon and a biscuit and gravy. My French toast was delicious. The house hash was a little salty but not bad. My bf really enjoyed his meal too. We would dine here again. My only suggestion about the menu is that they should have more meatless choices. read more

Got a to go order from this place -- fried Delacroix catfish with red beans, green beans and a side of gumbo. The guy that took my order sounded professional and his voice was clear. He said to be there in 15 mins so I was. My food was not ready (it took them another 12 minutes) which was odd since there was just 1 table and 1 go order before mine. Anyway while I was waiting I had a long time to observe that none of the cooks were wearing face masks, and only one of the 2 waitresses was wearing a face mask properly. The improper one, who had the mask resting on her chin, was not going to tables but she was interacting with ice, utensils, and other objects behind the counter. I collect my food and get home to eat. Everything looked decent enough so I started with the catfish. It was actually amazing. The fish was perfect, sauce great. Awesome flavor. Unfortunately the shrimp they also threw in there were TERRIBLE. They were rubbery, like they had been boiled for 30 minutes. Some of them had shells on still. Undeterred I cracked in to the Red beans. It was meh. Had a strange aftertaste but otherwise it was standard fare. The Green beans were also average. The gumbo was probably the worst gumbo I've had in a while. Like the shrimp, the meat in the gumbo tasted like it was cooked too long. IT was chewy and rubbery. The gumbo itself didn't really have a gumbo taste. Waitresses were friendly enough and the fish itself was great but everything else was bad bad bad.
