We were here for a 21+ ticketed event with some friends. I purchased a friends ticket, and we had agreed my friends would cover 1 or 2 drinks for the night. When we first arrived, I joked to my friend while we were ordering, "First round is on you because of tickets, remember?" - no big deal. We ordered a few (honestly, pretty mediocre) drinks, sat down, and enjoyed a great cover band that played music I grew up with. The atmosphere was fun, people were dancing, and we met and chatted with a few friendly folks near the bar and nearby tables. Most people were definitely buzzed, some outright drunk. It's a 21+ event, after all. It was a fun time. The problem? I was ''cut off'' after only 2.5 drinks, as one had accidentally spilled. When I went to order another after dancing with a friend, I raised my hand in a silly, playful way and smiled while ordering. Apparently, that was enough for the bartender, an older white woman (Ellen, I believe her name was), to decide I'd had "too much." She seemed to think other people were buying me drinks, which wasn't true, only my husband and friend did. She could have easily confirmed that with me or with whoever she thought was buying the drinks, but instead, she relied solely on her own incorrect judgment. I was definitely not drunk or behaving inappropriately. Meanwhile, there were people around us who were visibly intoxicated; slurring, stumbling, and clearly having a good time. They kept getting served without issue. One particularly drunk man made one of my friends uncomfortable, yet nothing was said to him. The difference? He was an older white guy, while I am a person of color. What really got me was when a bouncer pulled me aside to check my ID AFTER I had already been at the event for hours. I had walked past him multiple times that night, as I had gone to the bathroom or just stepped outside with friends. I wasn't carded when I first entered, and clearly my age had not been an issue until that moment - because you know, It was a ticketed 21+ event. I had, as stated above, even ordered a drink when we first arrived. Being told I'd be kicked out if I was seen with another drink, despite being calm, respectful, and coherent, felt humiliating and unfair. No one else was pulled aside, yet anyone with eyes witnessed plenty of people who were clearly less than sober, if you know what I mean. I understand the importance of responsible alcohol service, but the inconsistency and bias in how it was enforced here was obvious. It is disappointing when a place that's supposed to be about fun and music lets staff's assumptions ruin someone's night. It felt less like "safety" and more like a snap judgment and doubling down on an assumption. read more

This is based mainly on happy hour and the bar. The decor is truly lovely here, especially toward the evening, they have beautiful lighting throughout. Also on the weekends they've been known to have sone nice music accompanying the pretty lounge. The cocktails are average price, and tasty and there is an upscale vibe. If they improve the food and the comfort of the high top seat backs which are very low, I'd give a couple more stars. There's a menu that looks interesting and affordable with an Asian flair... but that's where the disappointment starts for me. It's lopsided with deep-fried, more protein, vs veggies, & plenty starchy items! We tried the panko crusted sliders, which we should have known meant the beef paddies would be deep fried. It was actually filling, but tasteless. It needed some onion or garlic aioli, slices of juicy tomato or something! We also got the chicken wings; again deep fried and in a sticky sweet Asian sauce that was tasty but very sweet. I did not try mains as they were on pricy side. We sat at the bar where service is ok, and better the more you order type of vibe. read more

This is my first time going to the Flamingo. I loved the music by "The Poyntlyss Sistars Rockin' Show Band". It's a great band to dance to, lots of oldies. I went with some women friends. I loved the music and the dance floor. My complaint is serving drinks. One friend had a Amoretto and Irish Bailey which she said tasted terrible. She didn't return the drink. She did add some creme to it but it didn't help much. I wasn't going to comment until the bartender added a different white wine to my glass because she ran out of Kendal Jackson which I had ordered. KJ doesn't come out of a screw top it has a cork. read more

When I'm in SR I usually arrive at night and it's the pink neon that dances in the sky which is often so alluring. No Cal Happy Hour carries specials and in these parts its great to check them all out, wherever they be. I stopped by recently to see what the scene is like here. Guest services greeted me and explained that it's end of season and not as lively but to stop in and check out their HH specials. There were at least fifteen plus or so in the pool and a few were perfect hard-bodies. The bar overlooks the courtyard, pool and other relaxing, garden seating. I sat by the pool on comfortable wicker seating with a large table. The wonderful Alicia was my server and recommended a few tasty tapas plates. Pricing on plates during the special were $5 - $6 dollars. Draft and house wine specials were $4. Their beer menu is terribly short but I found a decent micro, Speak EZ drafts. It was a pleasant day with good sights, lovely bar staff, tasty tapas and an inexpensive happy hour. This place is an old Santa Rosa institution. Hasn't been modernized nor well maintained for decades. I've lived in Santa Rosa, off and on, since 1977. Have visited the restaurant and lounge several times, even recently. (My friend's rock band played the lounge which is the only reason I returned here). I've recently eaten in the restaurant, as friends wanted to meet here. Food is mediocre at best. Drinks are drinks, nothing fancy, you don't come here for modern mixology. Crowd on busy nights can be rowdy and many middle-aged folks, who should know better, get extremely drunk. Bad behavior was abundant during my last visit. If you're a far flung visitor, I sincerely do not recommend that you spend your money or time here in the lounge nor in the hotel. There are quieter, cleaner, more modern hotels in Santa Rosa. It wasn't bad but there are just too many other options in Santa Rosa for me to repeat a Happy Hour here. The seven of us tried ALL the appetizers - favorites were the nacho fries and the polenta sticks. I made it up to this bar/restaurant about a month ago as some friends were flying into town and staying at the adjoining hotel. Otherwise, I probably would never have stopped into this place. And the yelp reviews don't sound too promising. Well, I'm glad for the serendipity! I'm not sure if this is one of those joints that used to be worse, but it's gotten its act together or what, but my recent experience was very positive. Firstly, the service was good; I ended up eating here twice while my friends visited, and I didn't ever have that situation where you wonder if the waiter fell down a rabbit hole. Service was prompt. Secondly, this place has a McDougall menu (oil-free, plant-based and minimally processed). Honestly, any place that's thoughtful enough to throw some options on the menu for us vegans, will get me in the door. Again, serendipity here. Had no idea they featured a secret alternative and super-healthy menu! I grabbed a veggie burger and pizza in the two times I visited and was not disappointed. Excellent and healthy grub that I've been thinking about since I had it. It's not a budget eat, as it was closer to the $40 mark for two when it was all said and done, but compared to most other local restaurants this seemed like more bang for my buck. There was no live menu and I didn't sample any alcohol, so I'm afraid I can't comment on that. But if you're looking for some delicious plant-based dinner and a date with the missus, this place might surprise you. read more

This place is old school - in the best way. Drinks overlooking the pool, regular live entertainment, a decent happy hour. Like some other reviewers mentioned, you won't find all the cool 20-somethings here, but that's ok with me nowadays. So I go to the Flamingo every once in awhile for the Salsa Dancing. The other day I went for the usual Thursday dance night, they do a salsa dance class followed by evening of dancing. After being there for a few hours I decided to go ask the bartender for a cup of water. The bartender then refused me a cup of water and said the only way they could give me water is by purchasing a bottled water from them. It is amazing to me to think that in this day and age one is refused a drink of water. read more

This place is just a dressed up motel with outdated EVERYTHING. No outlets anywhere in the room which sucks for people of this time. Our toilet kept getting clogged because of weak flushing power so we just told them to leave the plunger in the room. And no apologies from them about it. Carpets are dirty, and so are the chairs. The pool was nice and heated, and the hot tub was cool....oh yeah, and the hallway leading to the parking lot smelled like urine.... Other then all of that the flamingo sign lights up. read more

Went here for happy hour with the lady a couple weeks back. ($3 dollar draft beer, wine and well drinks, $5 pizza). Overall, a pleasant place. Tiny selection of beers, but they did have Big Daddy IPA, which is simply delicious. The pizza was a good size for two people, and for $5 I was definitely expecting smaller. The server we had was very nice. My main gripe is that this place seems to attract only the 70+ crowd. We must have been the youngest people there by a few decades. If you like the feeling of being in a lounge setting with a live band playing and people of all ages dancing, then The Flamingo Lounge is a must. The cover can be up to $15 on certain nights, but most of the bands are well worth it. The drinks are comparable and the mood is just right for dancing the night away. I have seen quite a few famous people in the lounge, including an NFL player with his bodyguards. It's just one of those "must experience" places in Santa Rosa. read more

Ate here for dinner on a Friday night. It was cold and rainy. Parking was not a problem. There was a 'function' going on in one of the banquet rooms. Only went to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our 'first date' (also a Cold, Rainy Night). We have lived in Sonoma county for 40 years, and this is the first time we have returned. We eat out at least once a week, often times more. Not drinkers, so no comment on the Bar. We had called ahead for reservations (a 'Reserved Sign' was on the table) but they would have easily been able to seat us without any. Ordered the Baby Back Rib special and the Scallop Fettuccine, with a Caesar Salad (our 'side' choice) and a bowl of Clam Chowder. The Caesar was respectable, Chowder was excellent, the Ribs (half rack special)(with no vegetables) were also excellent. The Fettuccine was just so so. Scallops were very small (about the size of a mini marshmallow), and it contained Braised Brussel Sprouts. We shared a slice of (frozen) Cheese Cake for dessert. The acoustics are terrible. We could hear the whole conversation at a table across the room. Server was polite but slow slow (might not be her fault, but it was still slow). Best of all was the couple who arrived just before we left with their Dog. A Big Dog, who wandered around and didn't just sit by their feet. Rated three stars because the Ribs were delicious. Good Chowder is available lots of places. All in all there are a great many other choices close by. We will be back, but probably not until our 100th Anniversary. We know and love the Flamingo for its fabulous pool and poolside service. The crab dip, hamburgers, and shrimp Caesar salad are constantly delicious. But, the reason for this review is the first Wednesday of every month seafood specials. Wow, Caesar salad, perfectly cooked lobster tail, shrimp scampi, baked potato, and broccoli spears for $19.95. The kicker is free corkage on a bottle of wine that was resting in a bucket of ice. We had a delightful waitress and wonderful service. The entire wait staff helped each other, making a busy night look effortless. Thanks Flamingo. read more
