This restaurant sits on property at the Lime Tree Bay Resort where we were staying. We had dinner there the first night of our stay, and breakfast once during our trip. The Ahi nachos were absolutely delicious. Tuna could have been cut smaller for easier nacho-chip-piling, but the sauces were really good and the tuna was fresh and tender. Baby back rib grilled cheese was also very tasty. We ordered the seafood tortellini and the scallops had a *very* fishy smell and flavor that just kind of tainted the whole dish. Breakfast was meh. Everything was lukewarm, including the coffee that was self-serve and tasted old/bitter. Toast wasn't warm enough to melt the butter they added. Eggs were cooked perfectly (I always order over medium and 90% of the time they aren't cooked properly, so I was pleased with this). One waitress for the whole place and she was impressively efficient. If you're staying at the resort, it's a reasonable option for breakfast on your way out or a sandwich on your way back in for the day. Otherwise there are SO many great restaurant choices nearby. read more

We are staying at the Lime Tree Bay Resort in Layton on Long Key in Florida. Layton is a very small town with only one restaurant, this one, which is part of the resort. Luckily, it has great service and food! In fact, we are going back a second time! The standouts for food were the Grouper bites basket (great tasting Grouper, battered and fried just right and accompanied by delicious fries), the rib eye with onion rings and asparagus (cooked as requested to mid rare and everything seasoned well), the short rib sandwich (very flavorful) with fries) and the Island Chicken sandwich (delicious but so filled with goodness that it was impossible to eat as a sandwich, it all fell apart). The drinks we ordered were Arnold Palmers, pina colada and a house Sauvignon Blanc - each was good and both food and drink are reasonably priced. So, you can drive a short distance to other Keys for a meal, but why do that if you can walk to and from The Florida Bay Bar and Grill? P.S. They offer inside and outdoor dining. read more

Our server Natalie was great, she greeted us with a big smile , she helped us out with some food recommendations and had zero issues with my special requests. My wife ordered the sunset shrimp tacos, they were delicious the only thing I recommend is for the chef to make the salsa that served with the tortillas. I ordered the fried grouper basket. Located directly next to the Lime Tree Resort. It's a shame they put such horrible food next to such a nice resort to vacation. There is a buffet style breakfast served here that is free for the resort guests. Later in the afternoon the bar and restaurant open to the public. If you like sports bars with lots of conversation with a large open bar area, this may be the place for you. My review is based strictly on the food and drinks away from the bar. Looking around it did seem like a lot of people were having a great time. The blackened Mahi sandwich was about one of the worst that I've had. The mixed drinks were extremely sweet and I did not taste much alcohol. I made the mistake of coming here once, and I won't be back. The two star rating is strictly for the convenient location. Nothing else to eat in the area within walking distance. The liquor store across the street will charge you an amazing mark-up on any food item due to this exploit. Even the breakfast was sub par. If there was a McDonalds within a mile, this would be one star. read more

Do not order take out from this place. To be fair, maybe the food would have been better had we dined in the restaurant. It seemed to have a fun outside vibe if you don't mind the smoking at the bar. Our conch fritters were so burnt and overcooked they were unenjoyable. The onion rings were so burnt they were inedible. The hot dog and coconut shrimp were fine. The shrimp would have been better with cocktail sauce (which I would have requested had we been dining in) and not the drawn butter that was not enough for the order. Visited the Florida Boy Bar and Grill today and it's a great spot to just relax and have a fun meal. The decor is everything you would imagine a Florida sports bar to be. Lots of fun signs and there are huge TVs on the patio which were playing different football games on each one. My husband was pretty much in heaven. The good is really good too. I had the grilled mahi-mahi sandwich with a side of broccoli which was delicious. My husband had a salad and the biggest side of onion rings ever! One of our friends had the mahi-mahi tacos and they looked so good! Service was great as well and prices were reasonable, especially because you could see the ocean from where we were sitting. Well, we were heading back to Miami from Key West and decided to check out this joint. We opted for outside dining where I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and music. The décor was fun. We ordered and split a grilled cheese bbq rib sandwich w/a salad. It was different. I'd never had anything quite like it but I like both bbq ribs and grilled cheese so, why not? It was very good. Stop by to have a little dinner had the burger and fries also ordered the Mahi.The fish came out it tasted very fishy so I asked the waiter if it was fresh fish or frozen he said he had no idea . We tried for the cheesecake, but unfortunately it had nuts in it and I'm allergic, so we had to skip that part. We sat at the bar and I ordered a drink. The bartender was very nice and took time to cross check the food for my safety - which was very nice of her to do. The inside is closed right now, so you'll have to sit outside if you wanna enjoy a drink. I recommend going a bit later so the sun isn't so brutal. They have a fun giant chair out front that you should totally use as a photo op if you like that kinda thing. Bar seating was distanced, but they weren't too picky about people walking around without a mask on - not the end of the world, just maybe sit at one of the further tables if you want to avoid anyone walking around without one :) Overall: B+ A solid fun beach like bar in Islamorada with a nice bartender. read more

Before our trip to the Keys I researched places to eat that would maximize my ability to have different kinds of seafood and various offerings of key lime pie. Even though Florida Boy is right next to the hotel I was staying at, somehow I missed them in all the searching I did. As soon as we arrived and saw them next to the hotel, I pulled up the menu on their website and noticed that they had a grouper appetizer (grouper fingers) and key lime pie. The menu also stated they had 5 layer chocolate cake which my wife wanted (unfortunately the online menu is "outdated" and the only dessert they have is key lime pie). We ended up ordering the key lime pie and the grouper fingers to take back to the hotel. The grouper fingers appetizer was well portioned for its price and had an enjoyably crispy breading that didn't cover up the flavor of the fish. The key lime pie, while smaller than expected for its price, was perfectly tart and came with a whipped topping on the side that tasted almost like whipped cream mixed with ice cream. It wasn't as thick or cold as ice cream but had more of a vanilla flavor than whipped cream typically does. I'm not sure how often they do it and if we just got lucky or not, but they had live music the night we visited so the wait was very entertaining. read more

We ate here for a couple days doing take out as there is not much in the area. Since we stayed at the resort next door we also had free breakfast. The breakfast process was ok and tied to the resort so I won't touch on that. The portions were large. My 10 year had the chicken wings naked and loved them both nights. My wife's fajita wrap was just ok. The fish po' boy was really good on night 1. On night 2 I had fish tacos. Nice portions and tasted good. My only complaints are that the restaurant charged me higher prices than what was listed on their website menu. Also, I ordered the fajitas with a side of ranch and when I picked it up I reminded them. They added about $3 to my bill which I thought was excessive. To add insult, the chicken wings come with ranch whether you like it or not even if you replace with something like buffalo sauce. They also charged me for the buffalo sauce. I basically paid almost $10 for 5 sauces where I probably need 3 at most. It was takeout so I can't see what's in the bag. I know it's the pandemic, but trying to take advantage of tourists is just bad business. read more
