One thing that sets Satomi apart is that she lets the dogs roam free before and after their grooming session instead of keeping them in a kennel like most groomers do. This makes a huge difference for my dogs, and I can tell they're more relaxed as a result. Satomi's scissor cut technique is incredible--it keeps my dogs calm since they don't like the loud buzzers, and their haircuts always turn out beautifully. Fast forward to 2026, and I noticed that many of the negative reviews I previously saw no longer appear on this site. I don't know what happened to them, but I felt compelled to return and share my experience so that others can make informed decisions. When I brought in my new Border Collie, the owner, Alma, informed me that she--not my normal groomer --would be handling his grooming. Since she owned the business, I assumed the results would be at least as good as those I had received from her groomers. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I was very clear that I wanted only a light trim. When I returned to pick up my dog, I barely recognized him. His beautiful coat had been shaved down extremely short instead of being lightly trimmed as requested. When I expressed my concerns to Alma, she did not explain why such an aggressive cut had been performed. As my dog's coat has grown back, it has become noticeably curly across much of his body. Concerned about this change, I spoke with representatives from a Border Collie rescue organization. They explained that experienced groomers generally understand that Border Collies should not be shaved unless medically necessary, as doing so can permanently alter the texture and appearance of their double coat. My disappointment is not only with the grooming result itself, but also with the lack of communication regarding a decision that has had a lasting impact on my dog's coat. Based on my experience, I would encourage anyone considering grooming services here to clearly discuss coat-care expectations beforehand and ensure that the groomer understands the specific needs of their breed.

She's a Bichon Frise, and not every grooming salon has experience with the breed. Unfortunately, that often resulted in some very disappointing haircuts. Bella Banana popped up on my Instagram feed, and I decided to give them a try. They had great reviews, but as we all know, good reviews don't always guarantee a good experience. I waited until our second visit before writing this review because I wanted to be sure -- and I can confidently say I absolutely love Bella Banana! First of all, the salon has a fully open concept with large windows where you can actually see the dogs being groomed. This is very important to me. At many other places, they take my Bichon to the back, and I have no idea what's happening -- which always made me uncomfortable. Bella Banana's transparent, open space gives me so much peace of mind and builds real trust. Today I picked up my dog after her grooming, and once again, it was a perfectly satisfying cut. The staff is incredibly friendly, and you can genuinely tell they love animals and handle them with sincere care and gentleness. Bella Banana is truly a gem, and I feel so lucky to have found them!
