Guided Rides - Our guide Josh managed to make it all work perfect; for a mom who is truly a mountain biking beginner, the dad who seems to be able to handle anything and the son who really enjoys a challenge. My point is, they happily accommodate all skills levels. Rental Bike options - it's only first class here with beautifully equipped new Yeti bikes, you will leave wanting one of these babies for sure! Plenty of choices for all rider types/sizes/etc... Location - The Bike Farm is easy to find just outside Asheville proper then a short trip to unbelievable trail options. Your guide will discuss what you want to do, then plan the route accordingly. We originally chose one day then added a second because we just couldn't get enough. If we could have stayed longer, we definitely would have. We took this trip to have an escape and enjoy the outdoors and couldn't be happier that we chose The Bike Farm. When we return to NC, without a doubt we will book again.

Day 2 took a guided tour lead by Will, again an excellent part of the Bike Farm team, took us out to DuPont and shows us some amazing trails, even had chocolate chip cookies after the ride. I highly recommend The Bike Farm for all levels of riders. Thanks JP

HBV was responsive to my initial inquiry from an informative and no pressure standpoint. I followed up a time or two prior to getting serious. All the while HBV was supportive and not pressuring. At the time I committed, Taiwan was still open, and having a fascination with that country's outdoor recreation, I was pleased to sign up! This was my luck as Fielding, the business owner, had lived in Taiwan for several years. I had a great time exchanging emails with him on my desires for the trip and learning of his experiences. Fielding set up a call with me, which I believe is his desire to get to know and coordinate with clients. It was a good call. My touring desires were a bit different from the balance of the group as I was primarily interested in cycling of longer distances. Fielding welcomed this, planned routes and options for this for each day, and made sure these were covered by guide. I don't have the words to describe the wonder and beauty of Taiwan. Buy me a beer and we can talk, I guess. It was fantastic, and cycling is booming down there. I had the good fortune to enjoy two world class routes during my trip - the Wuling Pass and the Hand of Buddha. The second of these, Fielding took the time to do with me post tour, and wow what a memorable day! It has been months since the tour and I am sure I am forgetting many efforts, but I just remembered a huuuuge one. I had one day of very extended riding. Fielding coordinated the plan with me and also a contingency. I ended up stranded in a way that blew both. The group agreed to come rescue me. Well, even that was challenged by road closures. The HBV guides finessed the road workers to come rescue me. That is telling of their dedication to the clients and their abilities. Before I end this, I wish to add that I was very pleased with the food, the accommodations, and the transport. This tour took us to some remote areas, so some were not as high end as others, but indeed some were so very fine. Our final dining was at a retreat in the hills above Taiwan and was so very high end, brought out in courses - very fine dining and what a great treat. I look forward to join HBV on future tours and recommend them to others. For me it was about 70 miles of riding daily with a couple of 100 mile days of supported (unloaded) road bike touring.

The mix of stunning nature, cultural experiences, a fun cooking class, wildlife sightings, and spontaneous group moments (including a sing-along!) made it truly special. And the vegan food, which included family-style dinners and local dishes, was incredible. Highly recommend!

Once they drop you off, you're on your own to make it back to the bike shop. Definitely recommend making a reservation for a bike ahead of time to guarantee a spot at your desired time. And be sure to arrive 30 minutes before so you can get set up with a bike. I read all the reviews and watched lots of TikToks about the 17 mile bike ride itself--it's described as easy and mostly downhill. Based on all of that, I rented a regular bike but regretted that decision later due to the amount of uphill stretches there actually were. Maybe my bike seat was not adjusted to the correct height for me, but I thought the ride was very challenging and my quads were on fire. I was actually worried I might not be able to finish and would die alone somewhere along the trail--and I could barely walk when I got done with the ride. I would recommend older or out of shape cyclists consider renting an e-bike instead of a regular bike. I saw lots of seniors riding back and forth on the trail with big smiles and I realized it was because they were on e-bikes. There is a small store that sells ice cream, water, and has a bathroom (basically porta potties) about an hour into the ride and after that, there is nothing. There is a big grass parking lot behind the building with plenty of room for cars.
