I had these cupcakes given to me for my birthday this year. I had the give me Samoa (not on the menu online currently, but was on the Facebook daily menu) and the red velvet Elvis. I had the Give me Samoa first, and it was an average cupcake. The Red Velvet Elvis on the other hand, deserves all the attention it's been getting. It's perfectly moist and fluffy, and the mini chocolate chips inside make it even more special!! I had to stop myself from eating it at once to actually enjoy it! I've spent an unmentionable amount of money at the Flying Cupcake Bakery because the cupcakes are just that good. If you are going for the first time make sure to pick up at Red Velvet Elvis. It might be my favorite cupcake in the entire world (and I've been to The Petite Cafe, home of the stuffed cupcake, in NJ). read more

Good cupcakes but nothing that tops the list. Pricey for what they are. Tried 4 different types. I would assume they are the best in town. Worth a stop. Be careful! I was charged for 4 cupcakes and only received 3. Darn being in a hurry. Should have been more attentive. First experience here! Very cute and crafty spot. Your different cupcakes were new and fresh takes that I don't see often in bakeries. I got a vegan chai and it was very good! That icing is way tooooo good to be vegan ;) The chocolate chip cookie wasn't anything to write home about. I don't care for how crunchy it was. I tend to prefer local cupcake shops to fancy chains like Sprinkles, but unfortunately I must say that I prefer Sprinkles to The Flying Cupcakes. First, visually, the frosting-to-cupcake ratio is too small. I like eating cake with frosting. I don't want to eat too much of cake without frosting. Second, I'm not a fan of having chocolate chips in my red velvet cake. They overwhelm the flavor of cream cheese frosting. Third, and this is the biggest negative, the frosting does not melt in the mouth! It's too thick and hard, which means when you eat the cake with the frosting, they do not mash well in the mouth to give the goodness of all the flavors melted together. You might as well eat them separately. I only tried their red velvet cupcake, and maybe their other flavors are better, but I think I make better cupcakes at home, and I have certainly had much better cupcakes from other stores. I don't think they are worth my $3 or my time waiting in line. Their window displays are cute though! read more

I went in there the other day and had the Here Comes the Bride Cupcake (almond cake with almond frosting) I had heard it was or used to be one of their most popular cupcakes. Honestly, I don't understand why. As a former baker/cake decorator, I know that good frosting should melt in your mouth. It should be light and fluffy and and not too sweet. It should complement the cake, not overpower it. Ideally frosting to cake should be what milk is to a cookie. The frosting was waaaaaay too sweet. And because was so dense, it just hung there and got stuck to the roof of my mouth. Also, the almond cake is already a strong flavor. The cupcake definitely didn't need almond frosting on top of that. A light vanilla buttercream would have been much better and balanced out the flavors. I could be wrong about the origins, but I feel like The Flying Cupcake is what you get when someone doesn't know food or baking cashes in on a fad. read more

I can see why someone who didn't know much about real food would like these, but they taste like they came straight out of a box. While moist (most box mix cakes are, and it takes no talent) they are entirely too sweet and lack genuine flavor. Not a fan. There are better places around that bake from scratch daily. read more

This place has been a favorite of mine for years. While the cupcakes can be a bit pricey, it's so worth it for a special treat. I love the variety of flavors and the size of the cupcakes make it worth it for the price. All of their locations are decorated so well and the service has always been good whenever I stop in. read more

I went in with high hopes. Now, it had snowed over 8" the night before we went here. It was a bit treacherous for me (slightly disabled) to get into. There was ice on the sidewalk. When we got in i was shocked at how few gluten free cupcakes there were to choose from. There was 2. A maple pecan and a vanilla. I opted to try both. The frosting on both was terribly hard, like it had been sitting out for a few days. I ended up not eating the frosting. The cake was equally as dry. Now I know gluten free cupcakes can be moist and delicious, I have had other places. I was sadly disappointed in the cupcakes and the lack of variety. We read on your website about all these different flavors and your cookies (there were none and my son was disappointed). The girl behind the counter seemed irritated to be there and didn't like the flow of customers. Maybe we just picked a bad day? I don't know but for close to $9 for cupcakes with hard icing and dry cake made me very disappointed. read more

Why do I have to even give them a single star? Bad cupcakes, but their professionalism is worse. Ugh. Special ordered 2 dozen mini cupcakes. They were not moist and the topping (ganache) was hard. A cupcake was returned to the shop and the worker compared it to one in the case. She told me that she would have her manager call me and stated that the cupcakes were not up to par. The manager told me she would issue a refund. She then called back and told me that she changed her mind. This business fails to provide a good, consistent product (I had enjoyed this flavor once before). They also contradict themselves with refund decisions. When the owner of Holy Cow Cupcakes officially ruined the surprise for our first child's reveal cupcakes, the wonderful ladies at the Rangeline Road Flying Cupcake Bakery helped us make the best of it. Within a short period of time, they were willing to make us our 'reveal' cupcakes with little baby themed toppings. The cupcakes, as usual, were delicious, but the service was even better. We were shopping in Indianapolis on recent trip and craving something sweet. We saw The Flying Cupcake and stopped by on the way back from the mall. It was around 6 or 7 on a Saturday afternoon and there was not many cupcakes left choose from. I think they had wedding cake cupcake, lemon, blueberry, raspberry and birthday cake cupcake but only about four of each. I saw the lemon filled lemon cupcake and went for that. My girlfriend got the blueberry cream cheese cupcake. When we got out to the car I took one bite of this cupcake and my taste buds exploded, it was so good. I hadn't had dinner yet so I vowed to eat the rest after dinner. I couldn't stop eating this cupcake. It was gone before we even got over to Chick-Fil-A for dinner. My girlfriend was driving so she couldn't shove her face quite as quick as I could, but she had half of hers gone by the time we got over to Chick-Fil-A. She was a good girl and saved the other half of hers for after dinner. If I'm ever in the area again I'll trying stopping by earlier in the day. Serendipity! I found this place by accident. I had just came from a jewelry store next door when I saw this place. I looked at sign and the inside and I thought the place was so cute. It looks chic! So I said, why not try it? I was so happy I did because it was the best cupcake I ever had! I tried their red velvet cake and it was heavenly! Its a little expensive but its totally worth it! Two people can share 1 cupcake because its big. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 star is because its a little far from my home. If they open a bakery on the west side of Indy, I would come a few times a week. It is worth a trip. read more

I recently just got married and The Flying Cupcake was suppose to supply my reception with their "delicious" cupcakes and a 6" round cutting cake. Well The day of the reception they were not even ready for pick up at the time promised and called the wrong bride to inform her of so instead of me. Then once the stuff was delivered free of charge along with sending back my friends a "free cupcake for my troubles". My cake was decorated completely wrong with wrong colors and all. After I called and told them this someone was going to come and fix it. My friend received a call from the supervisor stating that no one would be coming out to fix the cake. That the cake was beautiful and satisfactory to their standards and that I the bride should be happy with it and deal with it. So my mother calls the owner Monday to talk with her about the situation. The owner gets crappy with my mother and proceeds to tell her that the bride "me" was high maintenance.
