We've seen their sign for a couple of years now on Federal heading north between Hollywood and Sheridan. The name never landed with us as it sounded like a standalone food court. It was the sign underneath that read, "Too tired to cook today?" that made us take notice. Looking at the online menu we found that it was not only a who's who of Latin dishes of different nationalities, but they also served bar fare - chicken wings, burgers, quesadillas, etc. Not knowing what their specialty was, we never committed to it. But today was one of those days where we felt like something different and we took a chance. The gamble paid off big. The menu was all over the place, so not knowing what direction to go in, I addressed the waiter who was all too ready to help. He pointed me to some of his faves: the Bandeja Paisa, Lomo Saltado, and Ropa Vieja. I'd had my eye on the Lomo Saltado, a popular Peruvian stir fry dish. The Bandeja Paisa is Colombian, and the Ropa Vieja - Cuban. I asked him what the nationality of the ownership was, when he revealed it was Colombian. I was immediately skeptical of ordering the ropa vieja - being half Cuban, I could not fathom the idea of a Colombian-owned restaurant pulling this off. So Joe took one for the team there. The waiter assured me that everything he has tried has in fact been delectable. But hey, what else is he supposed to say? But no, he assured me these were not marketing words, but words of experience. So I went for the Lomo Saltado which was served with black beans and rice, and french fries. He didn't hesitate to vouch for the black beans... I think he sensed my Colombian skepticism. Joe had replaced his fries for sweet plantains, so I took his cue and substituted my fries for tostones. But, not before warning the waiter that I would be particularly particular about the quality of my favorite plantain dish. He gave me a confident nod - so I played along. Joe's dish came out a few seconds before mine, and being the impatient carnivore that I am, I (let's say borrowed) his ropa vieja before he had a chance to pick up his fork. I was very pleasantly surprised. On par with any old clothes I have tried at any Cuban restaurant... and even better than some, albeit in longer strands than I've experienced. However, extremely juicy, full of flavor and tender. Then came my Lomo. I'm a first-timer, so I have nothing to compare it to, but it was fan-tastic. A bit charred outside with a juicy medium innard that cuts like butter, and to my relief, deceivingly tender. The lomo napped on a bed of sautée-charred veggies whose sweetness was a nicely balanced contrast to the savory meat. The black beans were definitely on point and seasoned with Colombian love. And those ten-ton-tostones!!! By far the thickest fried medallions I've had, but with a brutally loud crunch and still a real easy chew. And unlike John Travolta in a black T-Bird jacket, totally Greaseless. Often times, tostones of this variety are tough and as chewable as week-old yellow paper mache. Nope, these are some of the best tostones I've had in a couple of years. But by far the best of their kind. I also borrowed one of Joe's sweet plantations which once again left no trace of greased lightning and were rendered a perfect dark brown with a nice and plush sunshine yellow inside. The portions were more than generous and the price was comfortably modest. I expressed my deepest gratitude to our waiter for his patience and his spot on recommendations. He also swore by their burger which he had just sampled for the first time and which is made partly with Colombian chorizo and served with a side of chimichurri. They have something for anyone. Waitress was very attentive helpful and polite. Menu is on a tablet and is expansive. Very nice and inviting inside. The food was good would definitely try again and maybe Thursday night karaoke. Empanadas were crispy if you like that. Steak was good yucca bites good rice and beans very good. Fantastic food!!!!! Everything is fresh, homemade, and flavorful! We enjoyed the make your own bowl (1 base, 2 protein) with brown rice, juicy steak, tender grilled chicken, salad, and dressing. SO GOOD! We could eat this everyday - healthy and delicious! We also loved the quesadilla with jalapeno dipping sauce. The restaurant is super clean with brand new menus. They offer Latin cuisine from Venezuela, Cuba, Colombia, and more! Staff were attentive and friendly. I liked the prices and the variety of food however the quality of the food was okay and the pancakes tasted like frozen boxed pancakes instead of made. The salmon for the make the bowl was good. I really liked my stop here! Came in looking for a place to work and have a coffee while I await my car from the mechanic. Judging by the appealing looks of the place from US 1, I went for a beef taco with everything (lettuce, tomatoes, onions) and a coke on the way home after work. The attendant handed me the canned coke without a straw and no glass to pour it and disappeared while I waited over 20 minutes for the taco. Never asked me if I wanted to dine in or take my meal out. I had to wait for the attendant to come out and hand me a straw. After waiting for my taco longer than expected and assuming that I was going to take it out she handed me a bag with the taco tied with a nut. When I asked her why did she assume that I was going to take my dinner out she replied: "You can have it here or take it home. I am not going to stop you either way" which made me wonder what kind of response is that to a first time customer who tipped in advance and had the potential to become a regular? I was suspicious of what was being served and before going home, I opened the mysterious bag there was a whole bunch of lettuce, few tomatoes, and hardly no onions. Look at the attached picture of Food Corner's version of a taco where the 3 tortillas were uncooked and the sacarse pieces of beef were buried under a handful of lettuce at the bottom which looked overheated, dry but were cold and tasted like cardboard with gravy. I was frustrated, returned the meal, and requested an immediate refund, including the tip I generously gave assuming that everything was going to be normal at least. If this is just a taco served around dinner time, imagine how aggravating would have been having asked for something more elaborated from the menu and receive the surprise after waiting for a while or coming for a pick up. No wonder the place was empty around dinner time although nicely decorated and clean. Then I was approached by a nice lady who was wandering around during the whole ordeal from the beginning, observing how the situation unfolded and finally identified herself as the owner and read me the usual script assuring me that it was the first time something like that happened while her son handed me the refund. Never again! If you order take out, I suggest you make sure to open your take out meal before leaving the place to prevent an unpleasant surprise when it is too late to go back and return it. Maybe I was just unlucky that night. That's how businesses close down: one pissed off customer at a time. Spanish Translation: A juzgar por el atractivo aspecto del lugar desde la US 1, fui a comer un taco de carne con todo (lechuga, tomates, cebollas) y una Coca-Cola de camino a casa después del trabajo. La encargada me entregó la Coca-Cola en lata sin pajita ni vaso para servirla y desapareció mientras esperaba más de 20 minutos por el taco. Nunca me preguntó si quería cenar allí o llevarme la comida. Tuve que esperar a que la encargada saliera y me diera una pajita. Después de esperar mi taco más de lo esperado y suponiendo que me lo iba a llevar, me entregó una bolsa con el taco atado con una nuez. Cuando le pregunté por qué suponía que me iba a llevar la cena, respondió: "Puedes tomarla aquí o llevártela a casa.
