Super kind, they come right to the car, help unload everything, and never once looked concerned by the mountain of unnecessary purchases I was donating. Feels good knowing all this stuff won't go to waste instead of haunting me in storage bins forever. More Therapy is probably my next stop because clearly I have a very specific talent for buying things I do not need.

As middle Tennessee's only volunteer center, HON serves as the volunteer staffing organization for so many charities who need the help. Everyone knows that charities can't run without (1) money and (2) volunteers. Every September, thousands of HON volunteers descend on Metro Nashville Schools to pour hundreds of thousands of dollar's worth of time into doing much needed maintenance to the system facilities. In the horrific flood of 2010, HON stepped up as the hero organization, providing relief in almost every facet. Full disclosure, I am on the board. I serve on the board because I believe it in so much. HON is financially sound and run like a well-oiled machine by its staff and executive team. If you're a volunteer, just log in to the website and enter the system. You'll be amazed by the opportunities, training and diversity of events. Go ahead...you might just change your life while changing someone else's!

I love that they have kits for kids (or even adults) to learn how to do certain crafts, like a beginner small quilt, crochet, learn to sew, pizza box crafts, and more. Everything was organized into tubs, labeled, and very easily accessible. I loved their selection of vintage appliqués! They also have grab bag style assortment of things for a variety of crafts (junk journaling, scrapbooking, key chain kits). My kids loved looking around! We also donated the furniture to them and their truck divers who came to get it with their truck were on time, efficient, polite &careful. You have to fill a form out online to donate furniture and send photos ahead of time. But they contacted me 3x: once to set up the Pick Up and then to confirm the pick up and then to let me know they were on their way. Most of their items go to folks in need, but they also have a thrift shop upfront also. I was very happy to keep things from the landfill and donate usable items to folks in need.

They helped me to set up my nonprofit organization and it was no problem. 5 stars. I was delayed in filing taxes and requested their help. I paid for the service, but was unable to reach a live person to help me to get to my portal. The sales team kept directing me to Marnie, my rep. I called Marnie multiple times and left messages for her multiple times, but no response. I emailed her. No response. 1 star. If I can just get the help that I need with the service that I paid for, then I'm golden. read more

Mr. Rooter Plumbing was called to address two issues: a clogged kitchen sink and a partial main…read moresewer line clog. I was told that clearing the main line would resolve the kitchen sink problem as well. Before leaving, the technician only briefly tested the kitchen sink and then informed me that the sink issue would actually require approximately **$6,000** in additional work. I was asked whether I wanted to schedule that work, but I declined at that time. After they left, the kitchen sink was still completely clogged. I called the following morning to report that the original problem had not been resolved. Kyle Grissom told me that they do not warranty their drain cleaning work and stated that the only way to fix the kitchen sink was to proceed with the approximately $6,000 repair they had recommended. I found that response extremely disappointing. A customer should reasonably expect that if a company is hired to clear a clogged kitchen sink, the sink will actually be functioning when the job is complete. Instead, I paid for a service that did not resolve the original issue and was immediately directed toward a much more expensive repair. Later that week, I hired Hiller Plumbing. They successfully cleared the kitchen sink clog for less than **$500**, without performing the extensive repair Mr. Rooter insisted was necessary. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Mr. Rooter Plumbing. If you live in the greater Nashville area, I would recommend looking at other established plumbing companies that stand behind their work.

When my FIL passed my wife…read morecalled as the only paperwork we had from him was from Harpeth Hills and it was for everything he had prepaid. He had told us in advance that he had done that. Nevertheless, she ended that call with Thomas with a 14K quote for a funeral! And a referral to a local funeral home in Austin to help us here with transport or whatever was needed. When we finally had time to think and spoke with the local funeral home about options we decided on cremation. We also separately decided we did not want to do a funeral or have that expense. Thomas was upset and rude when my wife informed him of the plan. He then called the funeral home from Austin and was upset with them for talking us out of the funeral services he proposed! They did not do that, we had already decided that prior to talking with them. Thomas then also left them a nasty online review. Not a great start! We then proceeded with the cremation and confirmed those plans with the cemetery who confirmed everything was indeed prepaid and there were no additional fees. Guess what happened when we showed up? That's right, additional fees! Almost $800 to have the date of death added to the scroll as the year is included, but not the date. I've since learned this is somewhat industry standard as it is a 3rd party cost, but what is not industry standard is repeatedly informing a customer everything is paid only to ask them for money at the last moment. Furthermore there is a complete disconnect between the funeral home and cemetery. They (Lynn-GM and John Sales Mgr) ultimately offered to provide the scroll at a discount but days later have still not sent that offer/quote to any of the family. They began by trying to take advantage of a family at one of their weakest moments and when that didn't work threw a temper tantrum. It then felt like they were trying to extract something from us on the burial as payback, but I now believe it was just further incompetence on their behalf. Even at their best throughout this process they felt shady. This is a corporate run funeral home and you'd hope since you lose the empathy in exchange for greed, you should at least gain efficiency, but here you get neither. Stay away!

Be sure to bring your ID, Social Security Cards for each member of your household, and a proof of residence. But this is not just being handed a box kind of place. ENCM's food pantry is setup more like a small general store. They give you a shopping cart and you walk past the shelves choosing what you want (the amount varies, determined by your household size). ENCM also serves meals at different times of the day. Check their web page for times. When the going gets tough, the ENCM is ready to help. They make you feel like a person, not a number.

I felt so welcomed and loved that this would absolutely be my church if I lived in Nashville. Ray of Hope has recently moved and their new location at 2311 Murfreesboro Pike has it's main entrance on Una Antioch Pike. The new building is bright and airy.
