We stopped in here on our way back to Reno after visiting several sites in the area. We didn't realize that it was so near the state capitol. We were greeted promptly upon arrival and offered inside or outside seating as both of those areas are very inviting. We chose inside and were seated a a nice booth. Our server Caitlin soon arrived and took excellent care of us during our visit. We started with their steak taco appetizer which was only the beginning of a great meal. I ordered the Foxxy burger which turned out to be one of the best greasy double meat cheeseburgers I've ever had. In fact it was so delicious I forgot to take a picture!! My wife had a pastrami sandwich on sourdough that was equally good and also avoided the camera. Sadly and surprisingly none of them were to my liking. BUT if you like raspberries and/or sours, you will really like the Raspberry Red! She recommended Hazy Street IPA, FoxTrot Strong Ale, and the Karma Sutro. The Karma Sutro won, not only did it win, I liked it so much I got the 20oz. Red Chile Stew - This or soup = perfect on a cold windy icy day! Chicken Jambalaya - I could not decide on this or the dip, but I am glad I chose this. I have not had luck with Jambalaya in the past, typically way too "soupy." This was much better (not perfect, but much better than what I usually get from other places). We took a bite and had to spit out the grizzel - way too much fat, so when complained to this short guy who said he was the brewer, he refused to take back the dish! I've been going to Carson City the past 35 years after moving to Reno, and today is the day I walked into the Fox brewery. My husband and I sat outside in the sunshine and first thing is to decide what are we going to drink. I like Mexican lagers, and there was one on the menu, we each ordered one. It comes outside in plastic cups and it looks like an IPA, dark with a red tint. Mexican larger is light color beer. The waitress explains they're out of glasses, and it's not that busy. OK. I have a taste of my beer and it's not what I ordered, I told the waitress she said I'll bring you a taster of the Mexican Larger, it's significantly lighter in color next to the beer in the plastic cup and not so hoppy, she says I'll bring you one of those. Guess what? We got the same damn beer again in plastic. Why is it everyone else has glass? Other servers were giving customers glass. Now, it's time to order food, we both decide on the Chicken Pot Pie. I was excited to get my lunch it's piping hot, it's huge, and it's homemade from scratch! The crust is doughty and needed another 10mins. I continue to eat mine anyway. I don't like to send back food, you just never know what they'll do to it, especially if I can't seem to get the right beer let alone in a glass. The service here was terribleeeee!!!! I've worked my fair share of years in the restaurant industry and I understand a busy understaffed day but the service was horrible. My mom and I came around lunch time we were sat within a minute or two. Once we were sat we waited at least 10 minutes just to get our drink orders place(which were two waters) We also ordered our appetizers and meals at the same time as our drinks. The appetizers came out in a short timely manner but we didn't get our drinks until AFTER we got our appetizers. We had to get the attention of a busser to get our drinks (again our drinks were two WATERS the simplest drinks to get) We got our food and then had to wait at least 15 minutes just to get boxes. Then had to wait another 10-15 to get our check after waving someone down for it. Multiple servers, busters, and the manager walked past numerous times through our experience and we had to wave down someone for every part of the average restaurant experience. We are regular customers and I'm so tired of getting nickel and dimed for every extra!! We like the food, but they insist on charging extra for everything! I love sweet potato fries -$5 extra. Last week I got charged extra for the fries and then extra for the sauce for them! Today, I didn't order the fries, got soup for my side - $5 extra!!! Standard sports pub vibe. Prices have really gone up here. I had fish and chips and it was just ok, 2 small strips of fish and 2 slices of garlic bread I got instead of fries. Pricey for what I got. Mom had french onion soup and she said it was good. The burger we ordered was not cooked well done. We had to send it back. Also, was graded as "meh" by the eater. No bacon on a bacon cheeseburger? Took a short drive to Fox Brewery & Pub in Carson City to enjoy a quieter side of Northern Nevada. I love this area by the State Capitol and Carson City still has a rural feel. It was a little hot outside for patio seating and the event probably would have been nicer if I cose to eat in the air conditioned restaurant. Had the fish and chips and the fish was light. Alos had cheese curds and I think out of the places I've tried, Fox Brewery's are the best so far with a nice chipotle sauce. Service was great. Busy on a Saturday afternoon. Oh no! Bad news! The angry mussels now have jalapeño in them! I've been eating these for years. Used to ask every time to confirm safe from green meanies. Did not occur to me to ask, even though some items are new in the menu. I was unsuspecting and have paid the price. If you have food allergies, always ask even on your tried and true favorites! Good news though is that the lamb burger is still wonderful and my friend, who found the jambalaya to be more gumboesque and not suited to her palette, was able to switch out. We went here today to celebrate a birthday with a small group. They were pretty accommodating with where we wanted to sit. We ordered cheese curds which were pretty yummy. The dipping sauce they have with the curds is delish. We also ordered three different burgers with garlic fries. The burgers were pretty good, but the garlic fries were sub par. The fries tasted very stale and were cold when we got them (burger was warm though) so I would assume the fries just weren't freshly made. They helped us pick out a beer we liked by giving us some samples to try which was nice. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the service was a bit sub par and the food was just okay. They weren't too busy but they were not attentive. The waitress forgot to bring out napkins until we were about to leave and we had to ask for them. They didn't give us any refills on our soda and we were there for well over an hour and a half. They also charge a 3% fee if you pay with a credit card, so keep that in mind. read more

Our server, Katelyn, was on it from the time we sat down. I had the Sante Fe Chicken Salad that would have been nice if it were tossed for me. It's kind of hard to get it mixed at the table. We came here a long time ago when this place had a different name but we've never been back. Glad we tried it again! I started with a yummy bee honey beer. Light and refreshing for a hot day. For dinner I had a hot pastrami, one of my faves, and it didn't disappoint. Tasty lean pastrami on sourdough, really tasty. Normally you get it on rye but sourdough was so much better. It was a beautiful afternoon so why not sit on the patio and enjoy the sound of the fountains and the feel of the breeze while we enjoyed a nice lunch! There was a great menu addition for Octoberfest but we all opted for the main menu. The special of the day was a cream of mushroom soup, and STOP it now because it was so rich and creamy, but it's a really serious portion so beware! I ordered the angry mussels that are in a spicy chili cream sauce, which makes it impossible to stop eating because it is so good, and had a side salad. After touring the State Capitol a guard suggested The Fox Brewery as a good place to eat and he was not wrong. The Fox has a typical bar feel with music, tvs, and an overall chill vibe. There is both indoor, outdoor seating, and a separate section for large parties. Our waitress was friendly and checked on us often. The burgers were huge and delicious! They were messy in a good way. Some reviews mention the soggy bottom bun of the burger, I think that it just part of the experience with the sauce and the toppings- those buns can only hold on for so long. What a nice restaurant pub located in downtown Carson City. Nevada's capital. This pub is located in the St. Charles Hotel built in 1862. It's One of the oldest operating hotels in Carson City. Loved this! I even snuck around the hotel afterwards to look around! We sat outside on the patio which over looks the downtown village area! Our waiter was super friendly and offered us samples of the beers before we ordered our flight because the beer menu wasn't very descriptive. For my flight I ordered the Buzz bee honey blonde Ale, the Chocolate cherry Stout, The naughty Boo Boo brown ale, and the kings fall Pilsner. My top choice was the Chocolate Cherry stout! My husband and I stopped here for a late lunch on our way to Reno. Today is the day before the Nevada Day Parade and even at 2:00 pm they were pretty busy. We were seated quickly at a table but not a minute later the busser came by and offered to quickly clean up the booth next to us. We were happy to take him up on it. Sierra was our server. She was kind and attentive. She really made our visit special. We tried two of the house beers- the Mas Equis Mexican Lager and the Buzzed Bee Golden Ale. Mmmmmm. Both were delicious! My husband ordered the Lamb Burger which he said he enjoyed very much and I had the Pub Dip which was amazing! The horseradish really makes the sandwich but then again, so do the grilled onions, melted cheese and au jus! Great place. I hope to return sometime. we came in a group. Everyone got their drink, mine was forgotten. When I finally received my soft drink, refills were also forgotten I had the house specialty Cottage Pie. Food was seasons well, but no crust - It was a Pie in the description. Portions are on the small side. Prices are on the high side. My neighbor had a Burger Priced from 16-22 and that does not include a side. Fries are charged in addition. So paying $25 for a burger meal, seems very high. read more

The Fox is a reliable friendly restaurant! When it's warm out, sitting outside is amazing. The splash pad is right there, my daughter always goes to jump in it as soon as we finish eating. I always order the Cobb salad and it is always delicious. My husband normally gets a burger and fries which comes out really good! I need to eat gluten free and I recently found out that their wings are gluten free, and they have gluten free pizza. I never even thought to ask before and stick with salad because brewery's don't normally do gluten free. Overall this is a great, local restaurant! read more

Wasn't very crowded at all. 6 off us Seated in a very nice large booth. Service was Extremely Excellent, Bradley B was our server and took amazing care of us. Funny thing was there was 1 rowdy not in bad way guest at bar enjoying himself and a game that was on , he was a bit loud but not really bothersome but Bradley B was apologetic about and try to get him to be a little softer lol, all in all it was not problem. He may have had a few drinks let's just say ! The food was delish . The 3 alarm Burger was cooked to perfection / great heat , the garlic fries were soooo good . So I made a reservation @6pm today for 7 people, hostess point to our table , so we sat... and sat almost 30 minutes gone by nobody came to our table, we didn't even have menus, no plates no utensils no nothing, luckily the bartender walked by our table, and I had a flagger down, and I told her that no one has greeted us, she said she'd be happily to help us, but we still had no menus. Instead we had to order based off of what we knew they had .We put in our order, 20 minutes go by and we were served our appetizers still nobody gave us any utensils or plates. Another 15 mins the main course came out everybody got their dishes except for me and my wife, which I ordered the the roast beef and my wife had the fish and chips. We waited almost an hour never got our food flagged the waitress down even though there was nobody helping our table. We asked the lady if we can just have it to go since we didn't see it coming out. Got home. Food was not even close to what the pictures on yelp. I was served fries. This was by far. The worst experience ever had at a restaurant and this is coming from a restaurant owner. I know restaurants have their bad days, but I wasn't sure if the servers were being assigned by sections or were they assigned by first come first serve. I just know I had a reservation and I was expecting a server to take good care of us. This was my first and last time in. Our crew decided to get the street tacos which were delicious. It was a Saturday so service was a little challenged but our food came out quickly.
