But the service is friendly and the menu has a ton of options. I had the Asian chicken salad, the June special, and it was good. A nice big chicken breast that was moist. Another good visit--both at The Grille and Gold Dust West Casino. Customer service truly goes a long way, and visiting here always reminds me of being in Vegas. I frequent many dining establishments across Fernley, Sparks, Reno, and most recently Carson City, and from our experiences, Gold Dust West stands out. The employees we've encountered consistently provide good to great customer service and genuinely understand the value of repeat customers and long-term business. They almost always have a wait during dinner hours; however, tables turn quickly and the kitchen keeps up with demand. We've never waited long for our food, which says a lot during peak times. I honestly wish this level of understanding and execution could be instilled in some other nearby cities here in Northern Nevada. Free senior meal on Wednesdays with 50 base points on your players card. Shrimp abs chicken. They used to use accrual chicken for the straps, now they are the frozen ones like you buy at Walmart.. Still a good filling lunch. I believe there are 6 or 7 items on the senior menu. Some better than others. Allot like cafeteria food if I had to compare it to anything. Most the original staff are gone now since I've been going here for almost 3 years. The fries come out hot so that's a plus as I hate cold fries.. The meals are ok. Staff friendly. This is a great restaurant, I had their prime rib dinner for $14.99 and it was great. Very large salad, baked potato with all the fixings, green beans and a huge serving of prime rib plus au jus and horse radish sauce.. I went again and I had one of their 4 monthly specials Orzo chicken salad with black olives, cherry tomatoes and artichokes in a great dressing either garlic bread.. plus for $4.99 extra you get 7 large crispy fried shrimp and they are great. My partner and I stopped here for lunch since we were in town. The food was good and the prices were good. Both the hostess and our server were nice and gave us good service. I couldn't believe you could get a prime rib meal for such a good price. We left very happy and while my boyfriend used the bathroom, I played my favorite game and won $47.00 in about 4 minutes. If I could give negative stars, I would. After we were seated, our drink order was taken but the gal got that incorrect. The iced teas had floating black specs in them (may have been remnants of the tea bags). After we were served our meal, no one came back to check on us. We had to catch the server, to briefly ask for more coffee. We needed more sugar and my son wanted a refill on his soda. I wanted my iced tea replaced with water. Had to grab sugar off of another table while waiting. At that point a waitress from another area asked if we needed anything. She was actually very helpful. I ordered the bananas foster French toast. The bananas were all bruised and the "bananus" of the banana was in my food. I tried to let the gal know that seated us (the one that messed up our drink order) but she dismissed what I was saying and tried to say that I had a problem with them putting the end of the banana in my food. Gold Dust West is my favorite place to stay for a quick overnighter on the way through town. It's reasonably priced and staying in the hotel gets you a coupon for free breakfast - so here I am! There's a list of free breakfast options on the back of the coupon. I chose #1, which I believe was called the Little Star. Scrambled Eggs, Hash Browns, Bacon, Toast and Coffee - pretty solid for free! The food was good - pretty standard I guess... the staff has always been really nice and attentive which helps smooth things out until the coffee kicks in. Ordered their prime rib special, asked for medium rare, probably should have asked for rare because the cut I got was closer to medium to well done. We were headed back to Sacramento on the 50 comin into Carson City. I saw this ad for "Bones and Brew" at the Gold Dust West Casino. It offered a 1/2 rack of ribs served with fries and a beer for just $8.99. Half a rack for $9 bucks sounded like a deal and tossing in a beer too. So, we pull off into the Gold Dust West. It's a small locals casino with a Mexican restaurant and the regular dining area, called the Grille. We're seated fine in a booth. I see the placard on the table for the 1/2 rack of ribs for $8.99 and also I see an offer of free pie! Just spend over $7.00 and you get a free piece of pie. Damn, a great $8.99 rib deal, PLUS FREE pie! My friend decides to get the Bacon Cheeseburger. The food arrives in decent time. Yep, that's a full 1/2 rack all right. 6 bones uncut. I asked if the kitchen could cut my ribs for me, but they said no, we give you a knife. So, you'll be stuck sawing away at this rack at the table yourself. I asked for sauce on the side, cause grabbin them ribs with sauce slathered all over is way messier than no sauce and dipping the ribs in the sauce as you eat them. The fries were a sort of smaller portion served along with a little plastic container of coleslaw. The Bacon Cheeseburger looked really good. My friend chomped away on it and said he liked it just fine. My ribs, I'll tell you what, (people seem to say this a lot in these parts), were super meaty and fall off the bone easy to eat. The sauce was standard Bullseye, but the ribs! These weren't the standard, St. Louis, but more like bigger baby back ribs with the curved bones. Maybe not the absolute best ribs I ever had, but damn good for the price! I was stuffed and was one rib short of finishing. I got a Budweiser since I wasn't the one driving. Then the server asks what pie we'd like. You only have the choice of some kinda pie I never heard of, Cookies and Cream or Berry pie. We both took the berry pie. It was a pretty decent pie, not gourmet, but FREE! If I'm passing thru Carson City again, I just might have to get these ribs again if the offer hasn't ended. read more

After earning 100 points for signing up for their club card, I got a free prime rib dinner worth $12.00. Now I was lucky that I was able to not lose trying money trying to chase for the prime rib. The restaurant itself is much bigger than the one in Reno and does not have the "old" look as it is renovated and nice with a western setting, but the menu is identical to the one in Reno and the service is better. The food comes out faster and orders are faster too. The only con is that I had to wait a long time to be seated and then pay for my meal as there was no staff. The staff saw I was waiting, but took them 5 to 10 minutes to get to me. Now the food itself is great for the price even at regular prices. You get salad/soup, mashed potatoes or fries and vegetables. Then you get a free pie as well. The food is consistent across both locations. This used to be a good place to go for breakfast, but it seems to be going downhill. Did they get a new chef? The last time I was there two weeks ago, the restaurant was almost empty and my omelet was over cooked and dry. The coffee is still good, but it isn't made by the chefs. I give two stars because our server was working her butt off and was very sweet, Elizabeth. The inside is drab and open, giving a "nice hospital cafeteria" ambiance. The food was... well let's go with less than sub-par. My fiancés steak was cooked nicely but his fries and zucchini side were almost raw. My (obviously premade and came in a bag) soup was thick and the noodles were easily mushed by the tongue against the roof of my mouth. The salad was at least normal. If you stop in be sure to try a bowl of the Green Chili. The flavors were definitely on point. I ate way too much because who can turn down a slice of house-made pie but it was worth it. This rating is for the service we that we didn't receive on 9/3/22 at dinner time...specifically at 5:50 pm. The one star is for getting my party of four seated quickly...otherwise it'd be ZERO!!! We were seated in the middle of the dining area. However...we were totally ignored for 9 minutes...no greeting or acknowledgement that we were even there!! We ended up just walking out of the restaurant after two Caucasian parties...that were seated after us...we're greeted and served before us!! The only conclusion I can come to is that we were ignored because of our ethnicity!! We walked out without making this slight known to any of the employees on the premises...including the woman that appeared to be the manager!! It would've been illogical to remain there and expect a pleasant dining experience after making a complaint of this type!! The ironic thing is we were there so I could redeem the voucher that I received for a free prime rib dinner! A voucher (ticket # 011640003) that I earned for patronizing the casino as a new sign-up!! So not only did the restaurant lose business from my family, I also avoided patronizing the casino for the remainder of our stay!! I've.been coming to this place since it opened when I was a little guy. It's a cookie cutter little casino cafe tucked inside the Gold Dust Wes. It hasn't always been The Grille however. But with mentioning that it has become a more enjoyable and consistent place to dine. I'd say this place is a solid 3.5 but I'm gonna give it a 4 over a 3 due to pure consistency in quality and experience. The food isn't gonna blow your mind but it is pretty good for being fairly inexpensive. Nothing on the menu is really stand out compared to general cafe food. But they are constantly changing up special and have great deals for seniors. My favorite thing to get is The All American Breakfast. it's a three egg breakfast with choice of meat, choice of potato and toast for seven bucks. I think most places with a two egg breakfast are more expensive by one or two dollars. It's also worth mentioning that they offer petite portions of a handful of their meals. I would never downsize but it's good to know for those with smaller appetites. The venue itself is a decent size so unless you come on a busy holiday it's never too chaotic and the service is pretty quick and painless. Service has been a tad slow here and there but the servers have always been friendly and apologetic if such things arise. Autumn and I can typically eat here for 15-20 bucks with food/tax/drinks included and I'm okay with that. Solid food, decent portions, fair price and consistent quality make this an easy choice when I'm in the area. read more

They have lunch specials and dinner specials that make a great price. Burgers and ribs are always a good bet here. I'd eat here, even if I wasn't gambling or staying at the hotel. We got vouchers from our hotel to get a Free Breakfast. The hostess wasn't that friendly. She seemed to be in a bad mood. The waitress was nice and took our order pretty fast. We had family join us for breakfast. There was 6 of us and it took a while for our food to come out. The food was okay. The biscuits, bacon and French toast weren't cooked all the way. The oatmeal didn't have any flavor even after the brown sugar and syrup. Not sure if they just don't care because it was Free. The other people that paid for their food seemed to enjoy.
