Response: "I guess I can just look at it." We go to the backyard, he stand there and looks. First thing he says is "Do you want stamped?" Not a good sign when the first words out of his mouth are trying to upsell. I told him no, broom finish. He has no tape measure with him to measure the area. He didn't have anything else to say so I asked him how would they reinforce it? How would they slope it? I think this guy was a salesperson who probably never did concrete work. Then I had to bring up the subject of stairs. I work during the day and this guy is wasting my time with his lack of sales skills and knowledge. So then he goes to his car and write up an estimate for $4,400. Congrats, you are the highest bidder! On the estimate form it says something like "Material prices go up in June, labor prices in July". This is to motivate you to sign now. He offers no information about whether or not the company is registered with the village. He wrote on the form "Customer gets permit", something we didn't discuss. I ended up hiring Caesar Garcia Concrete Solutions from Cicero thru Home Advisor. Saved $1400 with them. True professionals. Forget Vander Veer.

We had all kinds of other contractors from all over the area also stop by. Ali stopped over the same day and identified a lot of hail damage. Ali came with a great recommendation, offered a 10-year guarantee and was local to us. We decided to sign with him with no obligation if the insurance company did not approve the claim. We opened a claim with our insurance company. Ali took it from there he worked with the insurance adjuster when they came out for the inspection and was able to point out what he saw. The adjuster took it back to the insurance company. Ali handled all the communication with our insurance adjustor and got additional items approved that their adjuster missed. Ali also noticed we had a fairly large window that was cracked, 5 outdoor light fixtures that were from the 60's, our chimney was missing a cap, as well as the fascia that had damage. None of this was covered by the insurance, but he truly wanted our building exterior to have a complete refresh. He offered to take care of all of that and cover the expenses. God was truly working through Ali. The entire job took about a week. Our church also has a preschool. Each day they took care to make sure the kids arrived and departed safely. They made sure to pick up as many nails as possible on a daily basis. We are 100% satisfied with the entire process, that he handled by himself with little requirements from us. At the end of the job, Ali actually gave a $1,000 donation to our church. God is good!! The end result was complete satisfaction, and we would highly recommend Ali and his team.

I signed a contract on 6/5/2025 for…read morefence repair and also made a sizable deposit which they cashed.They inquired about a permit on 3 occasions and I both called and emailed for 2 weeks. Again on 7-10 when I called to get a date for the project- they again asked me about a permit, which is NOT required on an existing fence. Repeated calls unreturned, unorganized and rude office staff. Finally got me to scheduling on 7-23 asking again about the permit. They CANCELLED my contract and the nasty text message from the owner was simply the icing on the cake. Inquiring about a delivery date was seen as "rude" yet her text which I documented says "check will go out in the mail today. Hopefully the USPS will have it to you by Monday, the 28th. If not, you know how to compliant about it"--- ! She couldn't even PICK up the phone and have a conversation..... buyer beware! The contract I signed says they can cancel at ay time due to any unforeseen circumstances- by any "change orders" MUST be agreed upon in writing by both parties. While their service may be good- their organization (or lack thereof) and office staff and kindness- isn't part of their core values. I'm relieved I'm not using them. ps- notice that all of the good reviews are OLD. Check out the ones from 2024 (Abra) Have you ever had an owner respond in this nature? Calling the "customer" a liar? As to the JULIE people, (USIC)- nobody rang the bell and I babysit children. They opened the back gate without permission and left it open- I have a POOL (aka liability).
