Went to a Yelp Elite event here and honestly didn't expect to love it as much as I did. The Franklin is this cozy little wine bar and kitchen that used to be a bodega -- owner Elliot totally transformed it. Everything's plant-based, which fits perfectly since it's World Vegan Month, and the food was so good you forget it's all vegetarian. We tried olives, salad, cheese, bread -- all simple but full of flavor. They focus on natural wines (about 85% of their list) and even offer plant-based wines. I started with the Franklin White (Grillo), which tasted like a funkier pinot grigio, then moved on to a rosé and a Grüner -- both super easy to drink. Kril was behind the bar and Nate Moises kept everyone smiling. It's a chill spot with outdoor seating for about 20 people, one bathroom (noted ), and a great happy hour from 5-7 Wed-Sun. Fridays and Saturdays they bring in a DJ, so I'll definitely be back for that vibe. Loved the energy, the people, and how genuine the whole experience felt. My wife and I came here after work on a Friday for Happy Hour. We were greeted by a cheerful waiter and told to sit anywhere. The inside was cosy but we decided to sit outside in the lovely garden-like outdoor front patio. The menu isn't extensive but was clearly curated to do what it does well. Servings were perfect sized for a date - enough to satiate, not fill. We had the Franklin Spritz and Lychee Me cocktails. They were excellent and potent! We shared the Cacio e Pepe, which was rich, creamy and delicious. The pasta tasted hand-made and had a nice al dente bite. I found this place on yelp and heard about it via socials so I decided to come and try it out. Although they didn't have many pescatarian options. I was able to choose something. I wanted to try their tuna ceviche but it was out of stock. So I would say they need to make sure that doesn't happen constantly. Food: 5/5 I ordered the yucca fries. They were delish. My first time ever trying them and I was not disappointed. They were just the right amount of crispy and the dipping sauces which were an aioli and chipotle mayo sauce paired so well while sipping on my lychee martini. Service: 3/5 my waitress whose name I forgot was really nice. Although I wished he would checked more to ensure that I was okay. He did give me a sample of a French sweet wine resiling which was delish. I needed the grease to soak up the liquor. The bread pudding with the berry compote was a perfect ending. You scan the barcode on the table for the menu. You can order and pay from your phone. The place is small, but has ample seating due to its extension on the sidewalk. The happy hour was good $10 cocktails and ~$8 happy hour glasses of wine. There was also happy hour food like $5 bread which I didn't get to try. Small but beautifully decorated. There is outdoor seating around the building with a cool mural and flowers. Great if you want ti have a drink outside. There are a few tables indoors. They don't seem to take reservations, so if you have a larger party, I'd arrive early. HAPPY HOUR DAILY UNTIL 7 Drink Menu is extensive. As it is a wine bar, there are several wine options. But it doesn't end there. There's a large cocktail list as well that seems to have been carefully curated. LOVED the Hugo spritz and thyme martini! Raab made us amazing drinks and Demetrius was super attentive and welcoming. They made us feel good about spending our money there and were happy to answer our questions about wine and food options. During our conversation, we made suggestions for a sweet Lambrusco and more protein rich food options (I can drink more if I eat more). They were happy to hear our suggestions. They also made me laugh a lot during the conversation (I didnt expect that but i'm thanKful lol). The music that was playing perfectly transitioned and became upbeat as its became night. Me and my date wanted to sit at a four top but the bartender was gatekeeping them for non-existent patrons. The seats sat empty all night. It's much smaller than pictured and some of the items on the menu weren't even available. It was our first time going but definitely the last time. I still tipped 20% because the wine was decent but I could just get it from a wine store, in the future. read more
