The freeze, is a cute little walk up ice cream and food spot located in Grayslake. I saw an Instagram post of their apple cider donut ice cream filled with caramel, and decided to go and then try it out. Along with that, we purchased a funnel cake, apple cider shake, a snicker sundae a cheesecake sundae. There are picnic tables next to it so you can sit and enjoy. There's plenty of parking. There's a parking lot next to it. And then there's also street parking. You order from one side of the window, pay there and then wait to pick it up at the pickup window. Their services are pretty quick. I really enjoyed their soft serve ice cream. Unfortunately, the apple cider donut ice cream wasn't what I was expectingas taste wise, but I also had the strawberry cheesecake sundae and that was delicious with the fresh cheesecake pieces. My friend got the apple cider shake and she wasn't too crazy about it because it had a slightly off after taste that was sour. I would come back to try out their foods and different ice cream combinations.

Small town vibe, outdoor seating, restaurant. They serve frozen treats as well as burgers. Nice service with teens working.

I love the downtown grayslake area! The Freeze (previously Tastee Freeze) is around the corner from the Main Street where most events and farmers markets take place and i love how the freeze is right there in such a convenient spot. I got the strawberry shortcake sundae and the ice cream was so good and the perfect consistency. There's lots of seating and street parking!

Great service, good food! And the ice cream was creamy & delicious. Will return and bring family next time. Love the outdoor patio experience also.

Very busy on a Friday night in summer, so we figured this place would be amazing. They had a great selection of mix-ins for freezes, and a pretty big selection overall. I got the blue moon freeze, which featured blue moon flavoring, fruity pebbles, and marshmallow. I couldn't find any marshmallow swirl, but the crispy fruity pebbles in the creamy ice cream was good. My husband got a brownie sundae, and the 'hot fudge' was thin and syrupy, like hot Hershey's syrup which was not great, and the whipped cream tasted weird - I'm sure it's some kind of whipped topping but didn't taste like cool whip. The ice cream was a little grainy and it was just underwhelming. So, I might come here again for a specific flavor freeze, but there are other local spots that serve the classics a bit better.

Great place for ice cream! They just opened for the season so I had to stop by. Located in downtown Grayslake. I ended up ordering a medium vanilla cone dipped in toasted coconut! The service is quick and they have picnic tables to sit down. I will always come back!

Looking for a sweet treat? The Freeze is the place to go! Locally owned and located in downtown Grayslake, The Freeze is a perfect place to stop at with friends or family. They offer a variety of simple ice cream treats, sundaes, signature sundaes, shakes and even funnel cakes! The prices are affordable and you are able to personalize your order if you'd like. While you cannot eat inside they do have several picnic tables outside, and have a small parking lot next door. Don't be intimidated by long lines, they move quite quickly and the wait is worth it!

Okay, what?? This place is incredible. I'm visiting from out of town & wanted to find a good ice cream/dessert place to frequent during my 3 months here in the area. I knew I found a gem when I saw how crowded it was here on a Friday night around 8pm. There were maybe 20 people in line in front of me waiting to order. Even though it was crowded, the line moved fast! In addition, all of the 10-12 or so picnic tables outside were packed. Since there's no indoor seating, lots of people were sitting in their cars eating. The weather was nice so it wasn't a big deal. I thought parking was going to be an issue at first, but there were plenty of parking spots and street parking available as well. They have 2 ordering windows. One for desserts, and one for food items like burgers and fries?! I loved how they had all sorts of unique shakes, sundaes, ice cream, floats, slushes, smoothies, freezes, etc. You name it! Even funnel cakes! What?? The toppings, flavors, and combinations were endless & prices were very reasonable. Portions were very generous. I ended up getting the Brownie Batter Freeze which included cake batter, ice cream of your choice, & small pieces of brownie. I got a small but honestly a kiddie portion is probably more than enough for one person... If you're looking for a nice place to grab an ice cream and hang out with some friends, this place is perfect! Super nice area and I doubt you'll find better dessert options in the area. Definitely check it out.

The Freeze is known for its soft serve ice cream treats. However, their burgers/cheeseburgers are some of the best in the area.

Always a great spot during the summer. The workers should try and clean up outside. Be wary of bees, they're everywhere.

On this visit we ate in and ordered a butterburger with cheese, the "new" chicken sandwich, and a large fry. So, our order came out wrong. They didn't offer us a receipt at any point and apparently we had been charged for this order, which was a double burger with cheese, the chicken sandwich, no fries. They quickly brought me out some fresh fries at no charge, which I figured averages out the cost of the double burger, so no big deal... but they should be paying a bit more attention. The food was mostly on point. The chicken sandwich is advertised as less dry and more seasoned and it hits those notes well. A good sandwich. The burger was good minus the bun, which was maybe old or stale. The bun on the chicken sandwich was excellent so it was odd to see such a difference. The fries were piping hot. They're good quality but kind of bland. After, I got a Concrete. With chocolate custard, peanut butter, and marshmallow. Again, no receipt, and I felt like it was missing the marshmallow. There were a few ice crystals in it as well, so while it was still good it wasn't up to the quality I expect. The place is still a nicer sit down experience than you'd get at other fast food places but tables weren't clean and needed a wipe down. Feels like they're missing the mark here these days, but almost certainly the best fast food burger you can get around here regardless.

When they put the sign up I was so intrigued as to what B&B would be. Much to my delight it was Greek American style! I grew up eating along this specific fault line of American favorites and Greek classics, so I was psyched to see something like that around here. As soon as I saw they were open I had to stop in. They nailed it here. The clean diner concept was friendly and comfortable. The family run business was putting out, for my money, the best gyros anywhere around! Spinach Pie, another classic and another must have. I got one almost every visit. They did a great job with American stuff, and even a few Mexican style dishes too! I'd get the taco meal a lot actually, it was a great hearty meal. The Greek chicken plates and the lemon chicken soup were some of the best here, these guys knew their way around a chicken! There's plenty more I could say, it's been about 3 years after all... this is a big loss on the community. Nothing hits quite like this spot, it had become a go-to for me. Can't decided what to eat today? Go to B&B. Multiple people in the group want different types of food? Go to B&B. Craving something light? Go to B&B. Need a hearty dinner? Go to B&B. Well, now I can't go to B&B anymore. The area is less inviting without them, it's left a massive hole here that likely won't be filled. Trying to buck up... I'm wishing the family all the best moving forward! They are still running their Facebook page for the business, with a post saying they will have more information soon. Whatever they plan, I hope to be eating their food somewhere not to far from here in the near future. Goodbye for now, hopefully not sayonara. And thanks for the good times!

And I'm SO glad we did!!! We've now been back several times. Each time it's been everything we hoped that other visit would be and more. This time everything was just as we remembered from back in the 70's when we lived near another location - only even better! The onion rings are so good - just as they used to be! A few years back, we couldn't say the same. The person I've been with has tried a BBQ sandwich and a classic Coney Dog. Both were delicious! I was pleasantly surprised to find they carry both an Impossible burger AND an Impossible chicken sandwich. I opted for the chicken and added lettuce, tomato and special sauce. Omg! Soooo good!!!! Perfectly crispy breading on the outside, perfectly done inside and a flavor bomb on a soft bun. I'm so appreciative that they offer two solid entree options for someone not wanting meat. All of our orders have been freshly made and of great quality. I think this might be the summer of us making it through the entire menu. We've done root beer and root beer floats. Im not a root beer person - but Dog 'n Suds root beer is different and love that it's the same it always was. I love that they still have the original classics from the original Dog 'n Suds days - and that they brought back the magic in those options. But they've also expanded their menu with a bunch of great new options and that's fabulous (looking at you next, Dole soft serve!) The place looks freshly painted and everything is in great condition. We've been opting for eating in the car with the tray on the window like back in the day - but they have lovely tables in great condition set up too. The entire place is so clean too. Service has been wonderful - attentive and friendly. And who can't smile with some oldies to bop along to. Did I just say 'bop"? See? That nostalgia is creeping back in. Something old. Something new. A Great New Addition to Gurnee--Beef, Shakes, and Rainbow Ice Cream!…read moreI dropped by the brand-new Buona Beef in Gurnee to grab dinner to go! It's located on the west side of town, safely away from the craziest of the mall traffic. Just a quick heads-up on navigation: if you're heading east, finding the entrance can be a little tricky. You have to turn left at N. Hutchins Road and spot the side road tucked behind the tall swamp grass! Inside, the restaurant is beautifully clean. It took about 10 minutes to prep my order, which included two Italian beef sandwiches, a side of potato salad, a Caesar salad (both prepackaged), and an order of their arancini beef bites. You get three to an order, and while they taste good, they completely fall apart the second you take a bite, so be careful! I actually watched a video on their history and learned they use a commissary kitchen to ensure the flavor stays consistent across all locations, which makes sense. It's a solid, reliable local chain and a really nice alternative to the usual burger or chicken franchises. As a massive bonus, there is a Rainbow Cone ice cream parlor right inside the building! Our office actually had their truck visit us before, so we already knew how good it is. I couldn't resist bringing home a gallon of the rainbow ice cream, a slice of cake, and the four sugar cones they pack up for you to scoop at home. I even signed up for their rewards program. With a huge menu that covers everything from beef and burgers to fresh salads, it's a great, handy new spot to have in the area! BTW, service was a little slow. Maybe they are still training?
