The freeze, is a cute little walk up ice cream and food spot located in Grayslake. I saw an Instagram post of their apple cider donut ice cream filled with caramel, and decided to go and then try it out. Along with that, we purchased a funnel cake, apple cider shake, a snicker sundae a cheesecake sundae. There are picnic tables next to it so you can sit and enjoy. There's plenty of parking. There's a parking lot next to it. And then there's also street parking. You order from one side of the window, pay there and then wait to pick it up at the pickup window. Their services are pretty quick. I really enjoyed their soft serve ice cream. Unfortunately, the apple cider donut ice cream wasn't what I was expectingas taste wise, but I also had the strawberry cheesecake sundae and that was delicious with the fresh cheesecake pieces. My friend got the apple cider shake and she wasn't too crazy about it because it had a slightly off after taste that was sour. I would come back to try out their foods and different ice cream combinations.

Small town vibe, outdoor seating, restaurant. They serve frozen treats as well as burgers. Nice service with teens working.

I love the downtown grayslake area! The Freeze (previously Tastee Freeze) is around the corner from the Main Street where most events and farmers markets take place and i love how the freeze is right there in such a convenient spot. I got the strawberry shortcake sundae and the ice cream was so good and the perfect consistency. There's lots of seating and street parking!

Very busy on a Friday night in summer, so we figured this place would be amazing. They had a great selection of mix-ins for freezes, and a pretty big selection overall. I got the blue moon freeze, which featured blue moon flavoring, fruity pebbles, and marshmallow. I couldn't find any marshmallow swirl, but the crispy fruity pebbles in the creamy ice cream was good. My husband got a brownie sundae, and the 'hot fudge' was thin and syrupy, like hot Hershey's syrup which was not great, and the whipped cream tasted weird - I'm sure it's some kind of whipped topping but didn't taste like cool whip. The ice cream was a little grainy and it was just underwhelming. So, I might come here again for a specific flavor freeze, but there are other local spots that serve the classics a bit better.

Great service, good food! And the ice cream was creamy & delicious. Will return and bring family next time. Love the outdoor patio experience also.

Great place for ice cream! They just opened for the season so I had to stop by. Located in downtown Grayslake. I ended up ordering a medium vanilla cone dipped in toasted coconut! The service is quick and they have picnic tables to sit down. I will always come back!

Looking for a sweet treat? The Freeze is the place to go! Locally owned and located in downtown Grayslake, The Freeze is a perfect place to stop at with friends or family. They offer a variety of simple ice cream treats, sundaes, signature sundaes, shakes and even funnel cakes! The prices are affordable and you are able to personalize your order if you'd like. While you cannot eat inside they do have several picnic tables outside, and have a small parking lot next door. Don't be intimidated by long lines, they move quite quickly and the wait is worth it!

Okay, what?? This place is incredible. I'm visiting from out of town & wanted to find a good ice cream/dessert place to frequent during my 3 months here in the area. I knew I found a gem when I saw how crowded it was here on a Friday night around 8pm. There were maybe 20 people in line in front of me waiting to order. Even though it was crowded, the line moved fast! In addition, all of the 10-12 or so picnic tables outside were packed. Since there's no indoor seating, lots of people were sitting in their cars eating. The weather was nice so it wasn't a big deal. I thought parking was going to be an issue at first, but there were plenty of parking spots and street parking available as well. They have 2 ordering windows. One for desserts, and one for food items like burgers and fries?! I loved how they had all sorts of unique shakes, sundaes, ice cream, floats, slushes, smoothies, freezes, etc. You name it! Even funnel cakes! What?? The toppings, flavors, and combinations were endless & prices were very reasonable. Portions were very generous. I ended up getting the Brownie Batter Freeze which included cake batter, ice cream of your choice, & small pieces of brownie. I got a small but honestly a kiddie portion is probably more than enough for one person... If you're looking for a nice place to grab an ice cream and hang out with some friends, this place is perfect! Super nice area and I doubt you'll find better dessert options in the area. Definitely check it out.

The guy who took our order says this place has been open for about six months (Feb 2023?) I ordered the Philly Steak Sandwich. It was pretty good, I did not care for the bread... I bet it would taste better if the bread was toasted. I would order something else next time. My husband ordered the lemon pepper wings... he says they are the best wings he has ever had (and he eats a lot of wings) he just wishes they had blue cheese dipping sauce as an option... he says he is not a fan of ranch but this ranch was still very good. The two people working seemed nice. I didn't enjoy it enough to want to return.

We stopped in for a simple breakfast, and it turned out to be one of the best we've had in a long time. I ordered an omelette loaded with every vegetable they offered, and they were more than happy to customize it exactly the way I wanted--something you don't always get at small diners. My husband had their ham and eggs, and he said it was the best he's had in years. Even the buttered wheat toast was exceptional, which really says something about the care they put into every plate. The service was friendly and genuine, the atmosphere was charmingly old-school, and the food was outstanding. We will definitely be back any time we're in the area. Highly recommend Fred's Diner to anyone visiting Grayslake or passing through--you won't be disappointed!

When they put the sign up I was so intrigued as to what B&B would be. Much to my delight it was Greek American style! I grew up eating along this specific fault line of American favorites and Greek classics, so I was psyched to see something like that around here. As soon as I saw they were open I had to stop in. They nailed it here. The clean diner concept was friendly and comfortable. The family run business was putting out, for my money, the best gyros anywhere around! Spinach Pie, another classic and another must have. I got one almost every visit. They did a great job with American stuff, and even a few Mexican style dishes too! I'd get the taco meal a lot actually, it was a great hearty meal. The Greek chicken plates and the lemon chicken soup were some of the best here, these guys knew their way around a chicken!
