    Kouign amanns, $5 each
    Sue S.

IMHO I have never visited The French Spot; however, my sister brought me five kouign amanns from this establishment, without knowing that they are currently my favorite French pastry! I consider myself to be a kouign amann snob. I know what I like and what I expect in a kouign amann. The French Spot's kouign amann could very well be my new favorite! It is perfectly sweet (just right!), buttery soft on the inside, and crunchy on the outside. I am grateful that she thought to buy me five!!! Okay, I get to eat two of the five, whilst sharing the remaining... They are $5 each, which is the norm. If someone asks me to pay more for a kouign amann, I have to think about it, and it better be worth the extra cost! I look forward to going to the French Spot in person and buying more delicious pastries! Merci beaucoup!!!

Finally had the chance to try this place. Stopped on a Tuesday to find out they were closed. So yes the desserts we got were all super yummy!!! Got the Ube mochicro, guava danish, cinnamon roll, banana cream pie and I forgot exactly what the other ones were called. Everything tasted fresh. My fave was the Ube mochicro. It had the right amount of filling. Loved the crunchiness of the outside and softness of the inside. Will definitely come back to try the other stuff.

I heard about The French Spot on Insta and wanted to stop in this weekend. We usually pick up our bread and pastries at the local Farmer's Market, but after dropping in we chose an Olive Sourdough (larger than we thought it would be), a Guava Cream Cheese Danish, a Kouign Amann, a Croissant Bread Pudding, a Crème Brûlée, and red bean bun. They only have a couple small tables of seating indoors and were quite busy but unfortunately I think serving their items cold and eating them cold wasn't the best choice as only a couple of them tasted well balanced. The flavors on the Guava Danish and Bread Pudding did not gel well, and while I enjoyed the Crème Brûlée, it wasn't anything I'd come back for. Of all the pastries I liked the red bean bun and Kouign Amann the most but even that would be a bit of a stretch. I'd say the main successful item was easily the olive bread, which the honey adored, but again felt flavor unbalanced - although if you really really really like olives, this would be your bread. While they've been having wifi trouble, the service was friendly and prompt. I just wish I liked their the style of their wares more because I don't see myself coming back.

This place has so many selections, it's amazing, they have sweet, savory, and so many different combinations. I tried the Kouign-Amann, Blueberry Danish, and the Nutella babka. The Kouign-Amann was unique from other I've had. It was like a fried croissant that was crunchy, light, and airy. It was delicious. The blueberry danish was also good, the danish was flaky, crispy, and delicious. However I wish it had more of the danish filling. Pass on the Nutella Babka, it was a bit dry.

We've been to the French spot in San Francisco so we went to the one in Concord and we actually liked it much better! The space just felt bigger the people happier and the display. We parked in the parking lot and we're quite far away still and the smell was amazing. You could just smell all the wonderful breads there. It was just incredible. We got the pretzel baguette, coffee, and a latte, kouign Amman and salt bread. Amazing!

New pastry spot that opened up in the Concord/WC area from the city originally. Came here early on a weekday and pretty much everything was in stock and there was no line. I got the Ube Crossiant, Guava Danish, and Cheddar Baguette. The Ube Crossiant was the most interesting item out of the three. It was good when it to the balance of pastry to mochi ratio. The mochi was soft and chewy, everything you want fresh mochi to be and when I went the pastry was still warm. My one concern is that rather than flaky, the pastry would be best described as crispy and maybe a little oily/ not so light. I would give it a 4/5. The Cheddar Baguette to me tasted like a Costco Chicken Bake without the chicken in it. I'll leave it at that for now because I think it would taste a lot better toasted up at home. I am interested in trying their other bread loaves next time. The Guava Danish was pretty standard and the flavor of guava is definitely there was it was right on top. I would say again there was the question of is it flaky or is it cripsy? For me, this was a 3.8/5 because it was a little greasier than the Ube Crossiant. At the price point and the hype before opening, I was expecting a box or labeled paper bags for the pastry at the least but it came stacked ontop of one another in a brown lunch bag, which I thought was surprising. I was hoping that the structural integrity of the pretty pastries wouldn't be damaged because of it. Hopefully as they open for longer here we can get a different packaging. Overall, I'm looking forward to trying other things on the menu in the future! Hopefully the carrot cake next.

Micro-dosing on these so they don't finish too quickly. My goodness! These are perfection with every bite.

French Spot truly lives up to its name. The pastries and baked goods are unbelievably fresh and delicious. One bite and you genuinely feel transported to a small Parisian bakery. Everything tastes thoughtfully made, buttery, and indulgent in the best way. That said, be prepared to wait. The lines can be long, and popular items sell out quickly, so arriving early is key. Even with the wait, it's absolutely worth it if you're craving an authentic French bakery experience.

    morning bun, croissant, ube mochicro

Loved to see the asian inspired flavors! Located in Oak Grove Plaza, there is plenty of free parking. Service was quick and friendly. The bakery is small with only 3 two-person tables available to dine in. It is on the pricier side but The French Spot is worth the try! The morning bun was yummy and go fast. The croissant was classic and flaky. The ube mochicro was basically a croissant with ube mochi filling. The korean garlic bun looked promising but the ratio was kind of off - too much garlic filling and not enough bread so the garlic was overpowering. I do hope they eventually add a drink menu as I'm sure coffee and other asian inspired drinks would be delicious with their baked goods!

Yummy flaky almond croissant, delicious guava pastry, soft Nutella babka, sweet Ube Mochi. Second visit banana cream pie perfect with savory crust & Olive Sourdough Bread chewy crust with tender inside. Quick service. Nice French bakery. Looking forward to trying more treats here

We've been to this wonderful little bakery twice and had some yummy baked goods. On the first visit we had a small banana cream pie, pizza focaccia and a ham & cheese croissant. Next visit an almond croissant, plain croissant, Kouign-amann, a morning bun and another individual banana cream pie. Obviously, the banana cream pie was a winner. Actually everything was quite delicious. The only thing I wouldn't get again is the ham & cheese croissant. I prefer thin slices of ham and this was one big long fat chunk of ham. Not my thing. The first visit was on a Saturday and there was a decent size line. It moved quickly and was worth the wait. The second visit was on a weekday and there was no wait. Glad to have this wonderful bakery in Concord. We will be back.

I stumbled upon The French Spot on their second day of being open and this was such a great find! The space is very welcoming with floor to ceiling windows, a large counter for pastries and a couple of tables inside. The staff was very friendly and helped answer our questions about the pastries available. They had quite a busy morning so there weren't a lot of options available, but they were continuing to bring out new pastries during our visit. We tried a total of three items including the black sesame mochi cookie, strawberry shortcake and bread pudding. I loved all the pastries and would come back to try more if in the area in the future!  They have plenty of parking available in the shopping center, which made it easy to get in and out quickly.

New bakery, who dis? My friend stood in line and got an array of yummy things for our morning coffee date (bless her). The croissants were very flaky and delicious. The quiche with feta was a surprising fav with the feta being not too overpowering. The Korean garlic bun with the cream cheese is all sorts of amazing in a bite. The pumpkin muffin was super moist and frosting was perfect and mildly sweet. The banana soufflé was super light and flavorful. The only thing I did not love was the matcha cookie. It was a bit hard and overly sweet. Overall 8/10 and would return again to try different things!

We went around 10a on a Sunday and there was a short line out front. The smell will surely draw you in, even if you didn't plan to stop in. The line moved quickly and just a few steps in the door you're met with a pastry case full of fresh goodies. I love the French style pastries with an Asian flair- see flavor! We got a sampling of a few things to try, and each bite was a journey of textural and flavonoid delight. -Mango passionfruit croissant- the lamination was absolutely dreamt with crisp crunchy external layers and a dreamy pillow interior that holds the tart fruity filling inside. Topped with a dollop of toasted merengue, this is a dreamy treat. -Ube mochi- chewy, fresh, packed with flavor and topped with the most delicate crispy layer -Calamansi pie- a fun aapi twist on the lemon merengue pie- the pie crust itself was perfectly crumbly and buttery. The citrus of the Calamansi is a shock to the senses in the best way. -Classic snickerdoodle- massive, soft, chewy, and perfectly seasoned, we had to try a classic Can't wait to try something new next time

I actually did not mind that at all. Needless to say, the lavender flavor really came through, lol. The consistency was great, just like their other soft serve, very smooth and creamy. I just was not sure if the floral flavor paired well with the red bean filling I chose for the inside of my fish-shaped cone. We also ordered their matcha soft serve, which used to be my favorite, but the matcha flavor yesterday did not seem as strong as I remembered. Other than that, my experience was really great. The store was nice and clean, and even though we had a party of six, we were able to get the largest table, which was perfect. It was also very well air conditioned, which felt amazing given the unusually hot weather we have been having in Concord in the middle of March. I would definitely love to come back again soon and order their ube flavor, which is my favorite.
