Visited the The Fresh Market located in 4405 Roswell Rd, Atlanta, today at 10AM (Thursday, April 23rd) specifically for the advertised $5 sushi special. After waiting about 10 minutes for two sushi trays to be prepared, I was charged $9.50 per tray at checkout instead of the advertised price. When I asked about the discrepancy, the cashier checked with the sushi counter and came back saying they are a "separate business" and the price could not be adjusted. The only option offered was to remove the items, which I ultimately did and left without completing my purchase. From a customer perspective, the sushi counter is inside the store and the promotion is presented as part of the store's offerings. It's not reasonable to advertise a special and then decline to honor it at checkout due to internal vendor arrangements. This was disappointing and a waste of time. I hope management clarifies responsibility for in-store promotions and ensures advertised deals are honored consistently. read more

Had a great experience today. I was looking for halloumi cheese and both the manager and deli staff looked up and down and in the back for me. The gave me an alternative to try on the house. Just appreciated their time and help. The store is very quiet and everyone was very friendly. Spent some time at the seafood counter and also received great service. read more

This is mostly for the deli department. A woman who was working yesterday afternoon 2/12, was especially rude and difficult. The last time I was here, she said the bistro meals have a limit of 2. The sign says a limit of 4. And I asked about a pasta salad in the case and if there were any allergens. She refused to even entertain the question until I clarified that it was an orzo salad. (Orzo is pasta). She half answered that it didn't have pesto but not really. Half the foods in the bistro case didn't even have signage. I got the orzo salad anyway and my boyfriend had an allergic reaction. Never again will I go to this location. read more

I actually stopped here to use the restroom but have not been in a while so decided to look around. The staff were wonderful they pointed me to the bathroom and to the fresh food area so I was happy about that service. Everything looked fresh and neatly put in its place. I always love to visit. It feels like I'm in a farmers market, but with less crowding. I typically end up walking out with any combination of their fresh seafood, $25 meal packages, and wonderful pastries. The staff are always helpful, even the cashiers. Out of all The Fresh Market locations in Atlanta, the Roswell Road location is by far the best. Kenny in the meat department is by far the best; personable, remembers my previous orders and always gets me escargot from in back if the counter is out. Doreen is also excellent in the seafood and they both work the length of that entire counter effortlessly, no matter how many customers are in line. Amy is my favorite cashier and I'll usually try my best to get in her line for checkout. All in all, The Fresh Market on Roswell Rd is worth the wait and may I just say; I pass by the Peachtree Rd location five days a week and seldom shop there. What's not to love about this place? It's sparkling interior is full of amazing foods, drinks and flowers. I first discovered the fresh market when looking for the perfect eclair. I am definitely a dessert person. I really think theirs are the best in town, even despite the many local bakeries. My other favorites are the black forest cake, any of their cupcakes, and the crème brûlée. You know what else is great? Their flowers actually smell like flowers. The smell of roses remind me of my grandmother. These days, it's hard to find flowers that actually smell how they're supposed to you, I suppose, due to processing of some sort. This place is also a mecca for finding unique things that you can't find anywhere else. I've discovered many different food and drinks here. They have a great chocolate selection. This place is always been one of my favorite grocery stores. Most of them have a very small free coffee but you can always buy coffee. it's got flowers, fresh fruits and vegetables fresh deli section, fresh made breads and cookies. You can basically get anything here. It is a very high-end grocery store. They also have coffee beans that you can grind yourself! fresh! i'm not really sure why it's got low reviews but I have had wonderful experiences at all the fresh markets. They have seasonal options as well including for Halloween, Christmas etc. Yes they are pricey. But the staff here is amazing. There was a guy that came in who couldn't afford his lunch and two of the cashiers reached into their own wallet to pay. i'm not sure how much nicer you can get. Fresh market has always been high on for me. Again, it is pricey. (There's a private parking lot). Love the deli and I stop by often for the rotisserie chicken. I had a real bad experience with security the last time I stopped by the fresh market , The problem occored outside the market where they have tables for customers. As I pulled out my chair to sit down I was approached by security and he told me " I hope you don't plan on staying long " I thought to myself , nope not for long , if security is having that kind of an attitude. When I left I explained to him that what he said was very rude and I explained to him that I would leave a nice comment about him in the Fresh Market comments section on Thier web page I also told him I would find out what security outfit he worked for and he could be looking forward to another comment on Thier web page as well. If fresh market doesn't want people to sit at the tables outside then they should remove the tables or post a sign that says " NO TRESSPASSING " DAY TWO/THE DAY AFTER. Ok , now this is getting just a little too weird while walking down Roswell road across the street from fresh market I was going to dinner with a friend at Zaxby's and I noticed that they security officer was standing at the edge of the parking lot filming me I feel like I'm being stalked by the security officer because I was not even on the property and he was filming me while he was working. The staff at deli is so rude and negative and pissed off that you are actually wanting to order food. Never again. I'm a Fresh Market fan and have two pretty close to my house. I happened to be at this one yesterday and realized I had never reviewed it!! Always good for veggies and good ready-to-bake-pizza. Publix still has my fave roasted chicken, but FM and WF definitely have better ready-to-cook veggie mixes and FM is a little less expensive than WF. But one thing I really, really love about Fresh Market? They have a great selection- at all locations- of those square cards with quotes on them that I love. And yesterday, I picked up another treat for J's birthday-week-celebration - we have often commented on the kitschy decor at breakfast places we go like Another Broken Egg and Egg Harbor Cafe (ie, WHY must there be so many chicken, rooster, etc decorations....huh) - and I found a set of milk and sugar ceramic "chickens" with a little basket with a red checked cloth! He was laughing so hard when I gave it to him at dinner. Now, I know I can find random surprise gifts at FM, along with my veggies etc!! read more

Yesterday was my first trip to Fresh Market and I was very pleased by the selection of fresh produce and meats that they carry. Not only were they very fresh and inviting, but also priced reasonably as well. We ended up getting a few veggies and fruits from the produce department; some ribs and bangers from the meat department. Last night I cooked up the ribs and they were delicious, falling off the bone. I wish this store carried more items, as it is not a one stop shop like your traditional grocery store. But it is nice to be able to get fresh cut meat from a butcher and fresh produce in the neighborhood. I'll certainly be back from more. read more

Was in here the other day checking in a found out I had lost it on the review radar somehow there shouldn't be any excuses for this this, I live down the street from it oops. The prices on most things will be higher but you are paying for quality and convenience so with that out of the way, great flower selection, juices smoothies and yes even produce. Spice selection is nice if your looking to "grab a package and go." I personally come here for fresh nuts when making a homemade Hazelnut Cheesecake this recipe is as good as it gets. Zucchini bread here is addictive, specialty items can be found and freshly cut meats and seafood can be had for $$'s. Last but not least those little frozen appetizers are worth the money and save you tons of time while you get ready before company arrives, plate them, garnish and serve. If you're headed to Chastain this would be a good place to visit and fill your basket. read more

I fell in love with Fresh Market years ago and never stopped going, this location is particularly great because the seafood section is always stocked and very fresh. Their fruits and vegetables are always so fresh and colorful and the bulk nuts are an added bonus! I can spend an hour just browsing there store. I simply cannot stand this Fresh Market. I first started visiting this location because Fresh Market carries a couple of staples that I simply can't find anywhere else. Their customer service is atrocious...really, truly...atrocious. None of the employees seem knowledgeable about the products, helpful or even friendly. More than once I've received a snarky reply when asking a quick question. They really make it seem as though you are doing them some sort of dis-service by being there. Even cashiers are short and snippy with you. Seriously? The parking lot can be hard to navigate, especially during peak traffic hours. And while they carry some really great products, the selection is small and doesn't seem to be thoughtfully put together. Plus, prices are on the high end. Luckily, I was able to get Return to Eden to order the two products I usually bought here and I haven't been back since! Yay! read more

I really don't like to leave negative reviews, but tired of getting spoiled meat from The Fresh Market in Roswell. Occurs more often than not and even the non-meat items (like yogurt) are close to or over date but still on shelves. This most recent time, two days ago, on May 14, I went in specifically for whole chicken and plain yogurt for a special recipe. There were three $25 organic whole chickens right up front in the case as I walked in. Very convenient I thought! However, their "use by or freeze" date was May 12, so I passed them up and went to the meat case in back and brought home a $15 chicken that reeked the next morning when I opened the package to prepare it. Also had to get a different yogurt brand than I prefer because the yogurt I typically buy was expiring the next day. Neither of these are firsts for this store. The lack of quality control is both offensive and unsafe. In addition, I now need to scramble to get a replacement chicken this morning. Unless they clean up their act, we will avoid this store from now on. read more

"The Fresh Market--A Little Bit of Ghetto in the Heart of Buckhead." They were out of self serve coffee so I asked an employee if she could make a new pot. She shrugged, and said, "Not my job." I asked another employee, and she called someone on the phone, but after 10 minutes no one came. There were employees all over the place. I politely asked each one to help me as they walked by, but they all said the same thing, "This is not my department." I finally asked for the manager. After a few minutes the manager, "Georges" walked up to me. He got uncomfortably close to my face and said in a loud voice, "You got a PROBLEM?" I told him I had been waiting for fifteen minutes for someone to make coffee. He got even closer and said, "It will be ready when it's ready. YOU UNDERSTAND?" I was astonished that a manager would talk to a customer like that. (For a moment I thought I might be on one of those hidden camera shows, it was so bizarre). I asked him, "Are you serious? Is this your customer service?" He then said, "Nobody gonna disrespect me like that! Now leave, get out of my store." A small group of employees, who had apparently gathered nearby in anticipation of his arrival, laughed and high fived each other as I walked out. Georges could have just done his job and had someone make more coffee. Instead I guess he decided to improve his street cred by showing up a customer who somehow "disrespected" him in front of his peeps. I'm never going back to any Fresh Market. There is too much competition from Publix, Whole Foods and Sprouts to have to deal with this nonsense. read more

I passed by here last week on the way to my bff's house, and decided to stop and buy some coffee since I was running low and hadn't had a chance to swing by My Dekalb County Farmer's Market. I remembered fondly that when I was a destitute college student, my friends and I would go gorge ourselves on snack samples, as well as their amazing coffee. I'd stumble in, hit the sample coffee like I was Frazier and it was Ali, and then positively levitate out of the building to go study. My long-held fondness for The Fresh Market had to do with youthful nostalgia, because it just ain't the same. Granted, I used to go to the one in Asheville, NC so long ago it feels like it may well have been during the Carter administration, but nevertheless, the things I loved are no more. First of all, their prices were exorbitant and egregious. I scoffed as I wandered through the produce in search of a sample cup of coffee to enjoy while I selected my caffeine bounty. There were no samples whatsoever. That's a bummer, but a manageable one. Then, their cheapest coffees were still $2 and $3 a pound more than those found at MDCFM. However, what they lack in reasonable price, they make up for in selection. They have beautiful barrels of coffee in flavors that will make coffee lovers perk up. Coconut Creme, Tiramisu, Georgia Pecan, and many, many more. Because I simply couldn't resist, I got a small amount of Red Velvet, which is delicious. What was most disappointing to me for such a sophisticated specialty store is their glaring lack of vegan products. No, I don't expect them to accomodate vegan eaters in their prepared foods section, but they had none of the vegan staples that even Kroger carries (e.g. soy and almond milk, tempeh bacon, vegan cheese). Overall, it's a very aesthetically appealing grocery, and they have a delightful selection of coffees. If you're into spending too much for a limited selection, you'll love it. read more

Certainly not a place to do your every day grocery shopping, The Fresh Market does provide some pretty fabulous things. I'd skip most of the store as a lot of it is overpriced, but if you're like me and can't cook, you'll love the prepared section. Stuffed chicken breasts that come with baking instructions, delicious soups that are far and above your typical store-bought tomato basil, awesome pimento cheese, and fresh pre-made salads are just some of the goodies you'll find. Plus I love the giant old timey glass jars chock full of old school candy. I don't quite get Fresh Market. It seems that they are trying to compete Whole Foods, Trade Joes and Publix all at once - and not quite succeeding. Mind you, the interior is nice, but in terms of selection of quality prepared food, Whole Foods have them beat. Most of the shelf items you can likely get at cheaper prices at Publix - they are not unique like Trade Joes. And the workers there seems a bit unhappy (but that is probably just me). I love the Fresh Market and drive to the Buckhead location a couple of times a month. Their fish, poultry and meat are flavorful and far better than what you get in the chain grocery stores. Their Sushi is fresh and delicious. I'm currently hooked on their Deluxe Spicy Shrimp Tempura Roll. Yum! Their daily and weekly sales are amazing. I actually plan to do Buckhead errands on Tuesday just so I can stop by and get their $2.99 boneless chicken breast. I've tried their Thursday Family Meals in which you get a complete meal for 4 for $20 and it's great. It is a specialty store so I don't get all my grocery items here. I buy my paper products and produce elsewhere as I think their's is a little pricey. I really like this store and I wish there was closer to me. I love coming here to get a great cut of meat...but beyond that, it doesn't offer much. They don't carry all the produce a typical grocery store does, and they definitely appear to be under-staffed. I repeatedly wait in lines here -- to get meat and to check out (they normally have only 1 lane open). I frequent this store because they have quality food and its the closest grocery store to me. I love this Fresh Market! I always feel so peaceful when I walk in the door: the classical music, the fresh flowers, the yummy coffee... it just makes me feel like I should take hours to wander throughout the aisles and look at every little thing. Yes, some things are priced out my ying-yang, but I find that adhering to the sales in the Fresh Market flyer can point me towards some really reasonably priced sale items. I also find that Fresh Market generic items are of incredibly high-quality, but sold at a super fab low price. Definitely keep your eye out for sales and Fresh Market brand items! Favorites include raspberry pillow cookies (OMG, heaven), the two bite cupcakes (the double chocolate....), their cage-free eggs, fresh flowers (they just seem to last forever!), wine selection, and gummy bears. I have also gotten awesome sales on stuff I love, like Rao's arrabiatta sauce, talenti gelato, earthfield organic herb blend salad mix, and alexia oven fries. The fresh market sale actually made these items cheaper than if I had purchased at Kroger or publix! My best advice is to go here when you can take your sweet time and leisurely stroll through the store, sipping sampled coffee, enjoying the classical music, and spotting the sales. read more

The fresh markets has a great meat counter and this review is mostly of the meat. The Tuesday specials are a deal, especially the natural chicken breast for 2.99 a lb and the ground chuck. The service at the meat and fish counter is always excellent. Quick, helpful, and they will cut or package your order to your preference. While we purchase some things from the deli counter it is expensive it you are feeding a large family like ours. So, try the meal deal on Thursdays that provide a dinner for four for around $20. The staff is so nice in the entire store except for the deli, they always seem a but short compared to the entire staff. Checkout the monthly specials they are often great deals. read more

I hadn't been in a Fresh Market in AGES, like since moving to Atlanta. The one in Chattanooga and I had pretty good times, since it was on the same street as the store where I worked. I'd go in there for some sort of prepared food to eat on my break on occasion. This one is a lot smaller, and it's most definitely not a place many people could do regular grocery shopping. It actually really comes across to me as a place to put together like a gift basket or some sort of hostess gift for a dinner party. Now that I think about it a bit more, it reminds me a lot of La Grande Epicerie de Paris but smaller. Like you really have to have money to burn if you come here for things like produce with a Publix being minutes away (and during farmer's market season I'd think it'd be even sillier). I was after a cupcake, and I actually ended up buying a package of 4 since it was $4.99 and they looked like my style of cupcakes (tower of frosting not included). They weren't too bad, especially since now I have cupcakes in my freezer for later cravings at a much lower price. As for specialty items, that's where I think Fresh Market shines. Their teas, for example, surprised me. While still a limited selection of stuff, they had Adagio, Harney & Sons (sachets though instead of loose leaf), and Stash among other things. They also have a TON of chocolate, including plenty of Vosges bars which are my new favorite thing. They're $7 each, which is the lowest price I've seen. They also have hot pepper giardiniera, which I have been looking for ALL over the place for sandwiches. Even at $5 a jar, it's better than having to buy it online. I should have known to come here first! One other thing I have always loved about Fresh Market is the cooler of drinks. From soda to water to juice to tea, there are all sorts of unique options to try. I used to use it as an opportunity to try Jones Soda flavors. I will be back soon for something quick to eat, I'm sure of it. I'm a fan of the Fresh Market. This is a good place. Their cilantro usually has roots which is the best part. Most grocery stores cut theirs off. The people are super friendly and really make a huge effort to provide great service in a relaxed atmopshere. I haven't tried the prepared foods but everytime I walk by it, it looks so tempting! So many great looking dishes. I love their cookies though, definately some of the best grocery cookies I've ever had. I'm especially a fan of the peanut butter chocolate chip, white chocolote macadamia and the heath bar cookies. Their produce is generally pretty good, the orchids are some of the best I've seen in any store and the price for them is lower which makes them an amazing place to go if you like orchids! They also have a really cool selection of coffee beans, nuts, snacks and I love their fresh spice section. For everyday stuff, go to the Publix or whatever because this place I think is a little pricier, but the fresh and special stuff, its a winner. Fresh Market is more expensive than Trader Joes but less expensive then Whole Foods - so somewhere in between. It has a wonderful area where you can get salads, soups, sandwiches, etc and everything is healthy. The store is so neat and clean and has everything organic/natural you could imagine. Their organic brocoli costs the same as the non-organic broccoli I buy at Krogers. I love it here! Can not wait to go grocery shopping here. This is my favorite grocery store in Atlanta. Closely followed by Buckhead Whole Foods. I think these stores are in a class by themselves. Stepping into Fresh Market is an experience not a chore. It is aesthetically very pleasing. The store is well designed and the music is soothing. I like to shop here for all my fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, baked goods, and specialty items. Once you have the fresh food here you will be repulsed by Krogers, Publix, etc. I have always found the quality top notch. There is a down side though. I find much of the prepared food a little on the bland side. (I have yet to find any grocery that serves delicious prepared foods - help!) And I now have to shop at two grocery stores because Fresh Market does not carry things I need like certain cleaning supplies, dog food and treats my canine loves, and toiletry items. read more
