I really used to like this store and would shop there before Whole Foods, but all that has changed. The level of customer service and quality has gone straight downhill (in the toilet). And I mean drastically! I tried to speak to a store manager ("strawberry" - seriously?) about how smugly the wine sample lady was treating people and was barely heard before the usual "I'm sorry about that" insincere apology. I've spent a lot of money in there but I doubt I'll ever go back. They seem to have forgotten who pays the freight -THE CUSTOMER! To the bag lady acting all haughty handing out thimble size sub standard wine samples, get a clue, I'm surprised you were even hired. I called earlier this week to see if they had twice baked potatoes, so I sent my husband over the next day to grab a few for dinner. These were probably the worst, driest twice baked potatoes I have ever had. I definitely do not recommend them. I don't know how you can get away with service like this. I asked about the Polska kielbasa in the Deli case--if it could be frozen--no one seemed to know. Someone said I could check at the meat counter. I asked three deli staff the price of the deli pickles--no one knew. Someone finally suggested I go to the front to get a price scan, so I didn't buy the pickles. I am not going to run around the store getting prices. Then when I was checking out, I asked about the price of an item and the cashier said (unbelievably) "I don't know, I just scan them.' Store was not busy. One of my favorite places to shop for food. They have fresh produce as well as a good selection of meat and seafood. They have a great assortment of prepared meals and the deli and bakery are good as well. Sometimes I spend too much time in the store wandering around and looking at their unique assortment of items you just can't find anywhere else. located across the street from the kenwood shopping mall, you can't go wrong at the whole foods...OOPS...i meant the fresh market. when i first moved to cincinnati, i dropped my luggage in the apartment and typed in whole foods into my GPS. :*(. that was my facial reaction. anyway, i stumbled upon the fresh market after fulfilling my civic duty of pumping cash into the retail market at the kenwood mall. like karina mentioned, the fresh market is an experience. as you enter to pick up your grocery cart or basket, you are received by a huge floral department and soothing music. you pay for what you get. top notch, whoel foods quality fruits and vegetables. occasionally some items go on sale (i.e. smart water 1L reg $1.49 for $0.99). the fresh market is also one of the few places where i can find Naked juice in cincy. the staff is EXTRA friendly. + + +! cheese! they have a wide wide variety come here if you want high quality food and don't have a budget read more

The fresh market is average at best. While they do have a nice selection of wine and organic items I find them a bit pricey for the quality of meat selections. Their sides are very good with the exception of mash potatoes and twice baked potato which are routinely dry. read more

The store is absolutely beautiful and laid out in a way that makes shopping enjoyable but the prices are high and every time we have gotten produce here it has gone rotten within a day or two...once it was already rotten when i cut it open that night..take your hard earned grocery budget and go down the street to whole foods instead. read more

Alot like whole foods. Most of the pre-prepared stuff is surprisingly un fresh, i.e. contains loads of corn syrup and stuff. I hear they have some good specials but their prices seem unnecessarily high for the little more than suspect quality. read more

We went here to find all the necessities for a grill out. The burgers and hot dogs were quality meat at a great price. They had a great selection of cheese and we were also able to stock up on alcohol as well. read more

Yesterday I bought trail mix of nuts and cranberries.They are not fresh. In the past I have Bought half and half that was positively curdled . I also noticed the Chilean Sea bass is "just thawed out". Why would you thaw out fish and put it out for sale? Better to keep it frozen and let Customer thaw out . I agree you might be cooking in the next hour but most often You have time to thaw at home. Fresh Market does have a lot of food varieties and they are fresh most often. Problem is, I like my food fresh always. And what's with the loud fake classical music? I thought only UDF played that outside to keep away thugs. read more

It's not as big and bright like Kroger. Everything here is so much more expensive. The grill salmon was expensive but it didn't tasted good. Their baby back rib was amazing though. I will probably go back for the ribs only lol. read more

This is certainly one of my favorite grocery stores... I just wish I had the $$$ to shop there all of the time! Their produce is absolutely wonderful... definitely the best you can get in a grocery setting. They've got everything you can imagine, and then some. It's a GREAT place to get hard-to-find ingredients, especially produce. (I don't know about you, but I've never seen fresh truffles in a produce section in Cincinnati, have you?) Since you can track so many things down here... it really seems like a specialty foods store that does grocery really well too. They have a lot of regional and international items... I've found Hungarian paprika, German spaetzel, Droste Dutch cocoa... the list goes on...(I cook a lot, can't you tell?) My dad comes down from Dayton and always stops there to get sourdough bread... he thinks it's divine. Their bakery really puts the other groceries to shame by a long shot. (Of course, their pound cakes and loaf cakes will never be as good as DLM's... I really hoped they'd be better, but no way Jose.) Their butcher & seafood section is pretty amazing too - I don't think I've ever gotten anything from it, but it's fun too look at! They've also got lots of prepared foods (both hot and cold items - lots of roasted meats, not just rotisserie chicken!), a nice little wine section, bulk foods, bulk coffee, lots of cheeses, and a large array of foodie mags at the checkout. :o) Their beer selection leaves a little to be desired, but the rest of the place makes up for it. This should definitely be on your stop before any specials events, like holidays or especially, dinner parties. read more

When this store first opened, I was a big fan, now I find it mediocre at best. Twice they have discontinued products that I liked with the explanation that they were discontinued by the supplier. Later I find them at Hyde Park Gourmet. I have also found outdated produce and other items on the shelves. I have visited Fresh Market in Franklin, Tennesse, Vero Beach florida, and both are better stocked, more items and cleaner. Also, there was a butcher when it opened who was very knowledgeable, now no one seems to know anything about cuts of meat and cooking time. On one occasion when I stopped in at noon to buy meat, no one was availabe in the meat section, the excuse was that everyone was "at lunch". Young, inexperienced people behind the meat counter that know nothing. I shop there now, only on a "have to" basis. High prices, low everything else. read more

This is the worst place to shop. The produce is awful. Try getting any berries on a Monday! The wait in the deli is at least 15 minutes, and the chickens are pink inside, disgusting. The bakery has NOTHING TO BUY after 2:00pm. The store just has a negative vibe. I hope the board of health does something about the flies in the meat case. read more

I'm currently limiting my carb intake, so was hopeful that I could pick up chicken salad that is delicious and fresh. Very disappointed to see the ingredients in the Waldorf Chicken Salad include corn syrup, sugar, and corn starch, as well as a bunch of preservatives. I guess I'll be making my own, as Fresh Market's is filled with unnecessary ingredients that don't work for me. So it's not really that fresh. Fresh Market is my favorite place to grocery shop even though it is more expensive that some places. The produce is always super fresh! I love salmon and it is always really fresh and delicious. I knew the chain from North Carolina, and generally enjoy going there, although the food is very inconsistent and they clearly hire on the cheap. When they buy local (as with melons), they are great. Much of the other produce, including even things like cucumbers, are inedible. Over time, you learn what to buy and what not to buy there. Take the meat department - they inject the chickens with a solution that makes them taste weird if you are used to a chicken that has not been plumped up with saline. Their beef is low-quality. Read the signs carefully. Much of it is "choice," or "select" which are low grades for the prices they are charging. The pork is hit or miss. What is exceptional are the sausages, especially the chicken and turkey ones. They are the best in town. But one time I could not buy them because the one person behind the counter sneezed all over them while he was packing them up. This is sadly a common Fresh Market problem - they hire people who have no clue. It must be a terrible place to work, or they are only hiring people with no experience or training. The employee turnover is heavy, which is also not a good sign. They are frequently understaffed. The other day, it was crowded and there was one guy behind the meat counter on a holiday weekend. On another day, the cashier couldn't take cash payments because he had been called in and no one had provided him with a cash tray. This is pretty ridiculous management. The gourmet food selections in the aisles are good and the bulk is reasonable, although sometimes stale. I usually like the sushi. I go there for the sausage and some of the teas and things like that, but wish they could improve the staffing a bit. read more
