A friend told me about this grocery store and their $5 meal deals on Thursday. When I went they were $7. Still not a bad deal especially since you get a main and two sides. All of the food looked pretty good but the only vegetable sides that I could see were salads. Since I was planning on saving them until the next day, I didn't think the salad would keep. I will definitely come back if I plan on eating it the same day. The main or protein options were salmon, meatloaf, meatballs, chicken, and sliced steak. There were a lot of "deli salads" to chose from...pasta or carb with mayo, etc. I wish there were more vegetable items but you still cannot beat $7 for dinner. Fresh food too. The store was very clean and looked really nice. I will have to come back when I have more time to peruse their shelves. I will be back. read more

Very happy with my experiences at the Durham Fresh Market. This is my go to on Fridays to get wings. Where else can you get a pound for roughly $5? The bbq and garlic parm are great. Service at the counter is fast an friendly. The store is clean and well organized. Definitely give them a try. read more

This store is awesome as are its employees. I stopped in for the first time last week and fell in love with their smoked gouda pimento cheese. I returned for a "refill" today but it couldn't find it. This delightful man in the deli area went to the back to get it for me without a word of complaint. Measured out a container for me and I was on my way. Excellent FOOD, excellent service. Yes, it is pricier than other places but there is a reason. Go shop some place else if you don't like the prices. We don't live close enough to use it as our regular grocery store but I plan to return a few times a month - in spite of the long drive! read more

Compete and utter waste of time to shop at this location. The employees go out of their way to avoid helping customers and when you do finally get their attention (even when it's dead in the store) they're surly. I have vowed on many a visit not to return, but keep forgetting because this location is closest to me. After today's visit, Never again! I'll go out of my way to shop in Cary or Chapel Hill rather than stop here. No-one was in the meat department today or an advertised sale item, as well as many other choices not on display. Lots of food bars should have been open by now, after 10:30 am, instead all were empty. Even the deli barely had food in it. Super pleased with my quick stop at Fresh Market today. I came in for Counter Culture Coffee and left with 3 bags of my favorite (Apollo). The Counter Culture Coffee was on sale to boot which really made my day for sure! There were quite a number of the types of their coffee out of stock (I had to look for a staff member who said the person who is in charge of coffee was in a meeting but he took the time to check in the back to see if there were any extra bags which I appreciated him taking the time to check!). They put some of the CCC towards the end cap (the Apollo) and when I located it, I was able to snag a few more bags...but it was odd to put them on a side end cap top shelf area (away from the actual product itself)...maybe putting them back in the CCC sale section would be best logically speaking...just a little less confusing all around I think. Overall, in the general sense, I always enjoy going into Fresh Market for their quick and efficient service, their cleanliness, and their well stocked options of great items for your home and body. In the vitamin area I scored some amazing "last chance" buys which left me feeling like I had saved quite a bit of money stocking up on needed items that were drastically reduced in price! The selection of seafood and steaks is always fresh. They have great produce as well. The staff is also extremely friendly and are always happy to answer any questions I have. Annoyed, went in at 8:20pm on 08-20-2024 to get a rotisserie chicken and to my surprise there wasn't one in sight. Also the area where the hot sides were, was completely cleaned. There are employees who openly practice racism. On 9/7/23, we went to the meat department between 12:00 and 12:30. The older white salesperson who works at the meat counter was just finishing up with a customer when I walked up. When she left, I was the only one at the counter. The white salesperson gave me direct eye contact and acknowledged my presence at the counter, but would not wait on me. As soon as a white gentleman walked up to the counter, the white salesperson immediately rushed to assist this white man. Fortunately, his co-worker, who saw what was going on, assisted me and walked from behind the counter and placed the items U purchased in my cart. I want to thank the coworker who assisted me for his professionalism and kindness. read more

I've been to The Fresh Market a few times now to grab some pastries for a quick breakfast and prepared meals for lunch. So far, so good! Their pastry section has a wide selection and everything always smells so delicious! I just want to include a note that if you're grabbing something on-the-go for breakfast, you're limited to the pastry section, which is fine but just know that their bagels aren't sliced. Personally, I've been grabbing a bagel and taking it to the office where I can slice it and smear cream cheese on it but they also have scones and croissants. Their individual pastries are reasonably priced in my opinion. I really love their prepared meal selection! They do not have a hot bar (like Whole Foods) but they have a large olive bar and a salad bar! If you need something quicker, they have sandwiches, wraps, sushi, potstickers, soups, salads, and other entrees already prepared and ready to go! I haven't tried their deli section yet but they can make sandwiches as well. All the prepared foods I've bought are freshly made and delicious! I think the prepared foods are reasonably priced, comparable to dining out or ordering take out. I really like The Fresh Market and am happy to see it in Durham! I would say that this location is not as large as the Chapel Hill location but bigger than the Raleigh location. So far, the customer service at this location is fantastic as I'm always greeted when I walk in and everyone is always so friendly. I haven't had a problem with waiting to check out which is nice as well. The overall layout of the store is open, very bright and warm. I'll definitely be coming to The Fresh Market more in the new year! read more

The Fresh Market is Whole Food's first cousin. If you don't want to go to Harris Teeter or Target for grocery shopping, this is your jam! I love the small size. It's not as overwhelming as the other two. I work in the area and love going to The Fresh Market for lunch. There are salads, soups, sushi, sandwiches and my favorite -- the entrees and sides behind the counter. You can get a good portion of flank steak and two sides (they swap them out regularly) for less than $10. As far as shopping goes, if you are on a regimented eating plan or a special "diet" like keto, paleo, Whole 30, gluten-free etc. there are several items that you may not find in a different store. read more

Yelp says that four stars equate to "Yay! I'm a fan" but I'd like to qualify. I only pop in here if I need something specific. It's not my regular grocery store and actually I find most of the prices are on the high end. Having said that, they do stock some items I like that I can't find at other stores. They usually have specials on chicken breasts and ground beef on Tuesdays. We've also tried their sushi and deli items on occasion, and they're not bad. Most of the time you can also get a sample-sized coffee while you shop. I'd give them 3-1/2 stars for quality, but not for price. read more

Yeah I had surly service in deli area and in meat Dept. Mainly the newer ppl. I had checkout woman tell me the rotten avocados I used my gas for to return say to me , "they feel ripe to me". The manager sits in front of the store, in his convertible, top down, smoking, so that all his customers coming and going can breathe his second-hand smoke - of which there is no safe level. When I confronted him about it, he waved me off and walked away as I was speaking. So - he needs to learn some public health behavior, some customer-facing skills, and some manners. If you're into bread, I'm not, the selection seems pretty good. I did pick up some Rosemary bread I'm excited about trying. Yelp removed my prior review because I made mention that when I was in here I was verbally sexually harassed by some male employees. Many of the men that work here ARE aggressive. I tried to ignore their inappropriate comments towards me and I was shocked how two male employees became so blatantly verbally aggressive when I quietly walked away! These males proceeded to shout at me and I actually had to leave my basket and leave the store it was that bad. Not one employee or management had stepped in. I would not recommend this place. In light of women coming out about sexual harassment I am quite surprised Yelp wanted to remove my review about what I experienced here. I think it is important to let younger women know this isn't the safest place to grocery shop alone. read more

It's fun checking out Fresh Market to see what they have. Although the prices are quite often higher than most other groceries, yesterday we found asparagus, boneless chicken breasts and some packaged goods at very competitive prices. They always have a nice selection of pre-made foods and gourmet cheeses, the produce is always gorgeous, and the breads are always freshly baked. The service was great, too! read more

I haven't been to a Fresh Market since moving from the Charlotte area, and I am definitely a fan of this location. I used to shop at the Matthews location, and I was so happy with the wide spacious aisles and merchandise displays in comparison. Yes, Fresh Market does tend to be a bit more expensive than other grocers, so I tend to think of it as a place to grab some special extras, like some good deli meat or cheese. I was a bit let down during my visit with the prepared foods section. I was hoping to have a quick meal, but couldn't find many options other than sandwiches, pizzas, or salads. I'd love to see some prepared dinner options, as an example, like meals that can be popped into the oven. Pro tip: sign up for their emails to see the weekly Little Big Meal Deal for some good savings. Basically, for $20, you get an entree, side dish, and dessert that should be enough to feed a family of 4 and the recipe is included. I would love to see a little more organization at the store for directly having a section with these items all together rather than having to bounce around the store to pick them up. read more

First time going to the Fresh Market! Since we're recently turned vegetarians, we thought we may have some fresher options here. Immediately upon walking in we were greeted and offered a free sample. The store was very clean and neatly organized. Staff were very polite and friendly. The only downside is that food and merchandise here seems to be a tad bit more expensive. The moment I walked in, I felt like I was in a very comfortable, homey, clean, and upscale grocery shopping. The produce all looked clean and picture perfect, as if I could close my eyes and randomly reach for one of the potatoes and be satisfied with my choice. That's saying a lot because I'm usually the person who sifts through the vegetables to make sure there aren't any imperfections. They have a delicious looking fresh food bar that I have not tried yet. They also have a shelf of fancy chocolate bars which aren't offered in Target, Kroger, or Costco. And, one of my favorite parts, they also have fresh flowers bouquets that look as if they were freshly picked from a garden of perfect flowers. I also love that they sell potted herbs, and almost bought one myself except for the fact that I'd probably end up killing the plant. The word "fresh" definitely comes to mind when I think about the Fresh Market. The only reason I don't shop here more is because it's pricey, somewhere on the scale just slightly cheaper than Whole Foods, but more expensive than Trader Joe's. I shop at a nearby Kroger that also offers fresh produce for a much cheaper price; the downside is that you need to put in more effort when picking your vegetables, and the store does not give the same comfortable "fresh" upscale feel. read more

I was surprised to find a Fresh Market in this shopping center and adjacent to a dollar store but it was actually pretty busy. I was not expecting such a variety of take out food but the pre made salads, sushi, and sandwiches looked quite appetizing. They also have a seafood bar with cooked shrimp and shrimp salads. I tried some of their cookies but wasn't super impressed. However, I bought a spicy salmon rice bowl (kinda like a poke bowl) and was super impressed by the freshness of the salmon and the quantity for less than $10. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but I wouldn't mind grabbing lunch here if I happened to be in the area - it's very close to Target. read more

I know The Fresh Market can be pricey but I love it and always know I'm getting quality food. This FM is close to my work and I've enjoyed stopping by during the week for some quick prepared meals on the go. I'm obsessed with their sushi bowls and love seeing the sushi chef there daily making fresh sushi each day. For $10 I get a healthy delicious lunch and don't have to wait. The staff here are really great and always make you feel welcomed. I recently stopped by to pick up some salmon for dinner and a few veggies, I would much rather spend a few extra bucks on good quality ingredients then the other stores close by. If you go on Tuesdays they always have some great specials. No I don't do all my grocery shopping at FM but for some special meals and to-go lunch I'm a big fan. I am sorry folks, but I believe this store is designed for people that have more money than sense. Not to say that I don't like to spend extra money on quality products, which they have in abundance, and I have bought several things there, but I've had a couple of bad experiences recently that make me suspect that it is also designed for people that don't like to go out in public, whatever that phrase is. Agroraphobic. But it is also quite confusing in the way some things are presented. For instance last week when they had a sale on porterhouse steak I went in there and found what they had left was not your usual big chunky steak, but for $27 dollars I was able to buy about 2 lb of steak, two skinny steaks, that found no carnivors in the family excited!! Today when I was in there, they had a display of local honey quite clearly marked as "$5.99 + $6.99" a quart, obviously a fantastic deal. I took one and at the checkout it turned out to be $16. I showed the lady the display - the prices were all clearly marked and all the other quarts were lined up in place and she said that the consumers must have moved them around, because that was the price for only a 5 oz bottle!! I just wish I had the sense to take a photograph of the display. It was so obviously completely misleading. Everything was in the wrong place but clearly marked. There was nothing on the display that was marked 16 or $18! I'm not adverse to spending $15 a quart for honey at the Farmers Market, so I jumped on the $6 one and of course was quite surprised. No apologies and no effort to placate my disappointment or irritation at their blatant mistake. read more

Maybe they read my two-star review? That's probably wishful thinking, but something changed for the positive. Not sure if it was a management change or them just getting their act together. Went here on opening day with my family. Had a fun time exploring the store. This is a medium-sized upscale grocery store, so it is on the pricey side but the selections are a bit more different and interesting than at the stores like Food Lion and Harris Teeter. Their sushi selection looks great, they have seafood bar selection which also looks really good, there's a baked goods section though small also carries a good selection of interesting and tasty looking products. Unfortunately no hot food bar, although they do have a deli case with prepared foods. The store is pleasantly laid out, open, bright and airy. We brought home some sushi and some seafood salad from the seafood bar; all very tasty. Their produce section does not seem to be any different from other mainstream grocery stores. In fact, it seems to be on the pricey side. For a much more interesting produce section go to Li Ming's which is just up the road about an eight minute walk. We would probably come here when we want to buy some prepared foods, but for regular grocery shopping we probably would still be going to the other grocery stores nearby such as Li Ming's, Kroger, and Harris Teeter. Compared to other neighborhood grocery stores (not comparing Li Ming's since that's an Asian grocery store) this one probably shines most on the prepared foods section. read more

Look, the I am a big fan of the TFM franchise. The bakery, quality of products, produce, and meat are very high quality with decent prices compared to say Whole Foods. Since inception, I've continued to be disappointed by this location because of the poor management. I come at least 4x a week and it's often that there is only one person working in the meat department and I usually have to wait for several minutes either as only person in line or second or third. Additionally, there has never been more than two cash registers open and there is often solid wait. The weird thing is I see employees walking around taking inventory, sweeping or restocking and they do not jump into to help. It seems departments are not cross trained to assist one another. This is not a good strategy if you are running a small staff. Get your act together or you will loose my business and maybe others. read more

I feel like Fresh Market sits between Harris Teeter and Whole Foods when it comes to prices and quality of products. I have to admit I was surprised they put a Fresh Market in this shopping center and questioned if the area could support a higher end store but they seem to be doing ok. I like the location in Chapel Hill over this one because I feel CH's selection is greater and items seem to rotate more often at that location. With that said this one is closer to my house so I make due. I don't do my everyday shopping here but I do frequent this location for their grab and go items, meat and seafood department, and their coffee. They have some of the best coffee around severed whole bean so you can grind it there or when you get home. Their salads are top notch with creative ingredient combinations and above average dressings. My husband loves their cold fried chicken, sushi and olive bar. Anything from their deli counter is top notch; they make really good cranberry coleslaw and an edamame salad. They have a great selection of higher end trail mixes and snack items that are also super yummy. They will press a Panini when ordered and make them with items like fig jam and goat cheese. I like to come on a Friday and pick up stuff for dinner that night and breakfast the next day :) I think if you are looking for some easy dinner options FM has you covered and I will continue to use them in that capacity. read more
