Friendlys generally has pretty good food. I was really disappointed with my visit this week. I ordered wings. Waitress said they no longer carry the inbone wings but had boneless. I think I got 8 for $10. They looked like little walnut sized meatballs. They were terrible. I would have done better by picking up an order of nuggets at Burger King at 10 for $3. I let the server know that they were terrible. She said well that's what we serve now. No attempt or offer to make the customer happy. We ended up taking them home for the cats. I also had to ask to have my onion soup heated to where the cheese was melted. Otherwise my table companion ordered the roast beef French dip and the sandwich looked and tasted fine. So don't order the boneless wings. read more

They keep soup in 5 gallon buckets with no lids on them on the floor against the walls in the kitchen.

Good food, good service. Only downside, can be very noisy during dinner rush. Medium price point. Dinner and drinks for 2, average $60.00

This used to be our go to place when in the area. I'm not sure if there is new management and/or waitresses, but the past three visits have been less than stellar. The prime rib used to be worth the drive, the last two times it came out cold and gross. Ordered something different in hopes that it would be better. This was their third strike, we won't be back. The waitress was more interested in visiting with her friends, our drinks were never refilled, our food came to the table lukewarm at best. It's disappointing that it has gone so downhill. read more

We have visited and taken out food several times and haven't been disappointed yet. Their pulled pork sandwiches are outstanding and the All You Can Eat Crab Legs on Tuesday night are delicious. This is exactly what I'd want it to be: a local tavern with tavern food, a casual atmosphere, with a little more modern vibe than the smallest of small-town watering holes. There was a great Guinness special and a nice list of local Michigan wines. The kids menu had Kraft Mac n cheese with fries or chips... I could have used some veggies or fruit there. The Tater Tot Mountain was fun and the dip on the fried pickles was good. The fried foods could have been a smidge less greasy (there was a little bit of a grease puddle under the fish n chips), but that might've just been an off night. It's nice that there are a few salad options, though the fajita salad needed some kind of dressing beyond salsa, and I like that we were able to switch to sweet potato fries. The 'tin' ceiling is beautiful, the cute color-able paper hats were awesome, and we had a nice time. read more

The friendly Tavern is a delightful. There is an extensive menu. My friend ordered the fajitas and has not stopped raving about them. The presentation is beautiful, the chicken is cooked to perfection, the rice is tasty, a healthy serving size, and warm tortillas with ample and fresh condiments. I ordered a hamburger deluxe with cheese and bacon. It also is very tasty and cooked to perfection on a toasted bun. The fries are crispy and warm. The iced tea that we ordered is fresh brewed. The interior offers wooden booths, wooden bar, mosaic tile floor, pressed tin ceiling, a lovely ambience. The real icing on the cake was our server, Rebecca. There was a large group and she was very busy. She never seemed rushed and had a very cheerful demeanor and smile. read more

We visit the South Haven area every summer and have been here several times now and always enjoy a good meal. I was a little disappointed tonight as something I've ordered before was nowhere to be seen on the menu. I can't remember the name, but I think it was the Paw Paw Chicken or the Coloma Chicken. Or maybe I'm thinking of another restaurant. I should've asked but couldn't remember the name until later. Anyway, I had the blackened chicken Alfredo. It was hot and the Alfredo had a good flavor. My husband had the prime rib special which was HUGE and he liked. My husband also had potato bacon soup and it was REALLY good. Something was different about it compared to other potato soups I've had but I couldn't put my finger on it. Service was great as well. Looking forward to coming back next summer. Good fried food, try the onion rings with jalapeno ranch, both of which they make there. Not impressed with entree salads, get fish or a burger instead. I usually eat here 3 to 4 times a week every week but they raised their prices and the cook is not cooking right. My burger was not done to how I ordered it and WAY to much mayonaise when I asked for light mayonaise. Seems they're wanting to make money but going about it ALL the wrong way. This place is awesome. Great service and great menu. They have no gluten free menu however the manager and our waiter were very knowledgeable of gf and did everything to make sure my son had a great meal. He had Steak, perch and shrimp with a Cesar salad and a loaded bake. The stark fajitas were very good. 9 of us are dinner and we all enjoyed our food. I highly recommend this place. read more

This place is overrated. The food is expensive for what you get. The quality is lacking severely. The wait staff is nice but a little slow. Nice tavern with a small town and welcoming feel to it. Lots of specials throughout the week. We came on Mexican night. $2 Coronas and $3 Margaritas were the starters for us. My beer was ice cold with the requisite lime, and my wife and friends enjoyed their margaritas, strong enough to feel it but still tasty to drink. I had the potato bacon soup which had big chunks of potato and was creamy and tasty. Several of us ordered the fajitas. I had steak which was prepared just as I ordered and was tender and flavorful. Our friends had the chicken fajitas and they enjoyed them as well. My wife had the French dip and had asked to sub mushrooms for the onions. They added the shrooms but left the onions on. Easily remedied but a bit of an annoyance. Still a delicious sandwich. Kids meals were typical fare with burgers, chicken tenders and Mac N Cheese for our crew. They all are heartily and without complaint which is the important part of a kids dining experience. :-). Important to note they were also able to easily accommodate out large party of 12. All in all not perfect, but a very enjoyable meal that tasted excellent. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Great atmosphere and a place we would definitely come back to. Small town feel with a small town movie theater (Loma Theater) across the street made it part of a perfect rainy evening outing for our vacation. read more

Stopped here out of necessity. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Got the chips and salsa with cheese, which ended up being store bought salsa with a plate of chips and cheese melted on top in the microwave. Why did I pay 6 dollars for someone to do that? We also got the tator tot mountain. Awful- enough said. We ate some out of both boredom and hunger but wouldn't do that again. Save your stomach, money and time and skip this one. You're better off at the McDonalds off the highways. At least they have a play place and likely better food. read more

We have dinner here 1-2 times a month, love the perch dinner. Wait staff is good, food is a lot better than just bar food. Extensive beer collection in bottle or on tap. I had the prime rib special for 9.99. Wow, talk about a ton of food. Loaf of bread, soup or salad, large prime rib, huge baked potato, corn on the cob. Great deal and my dog was happy eating what I couldn't finish. The pulled pork sandwich was more sauce than meat and a bit disappointing. It's a cute tavern with booths along the wall. Have to walk up a long flight of stairs to use the bathroom though. read more
