The food here was really good and they had a large menu. It's was mostly brunch food but with some twists. I had gotten the breakfast tacos with home fries. It was exactly what I need for a rough Sunday morning. Four stars because their online waitlist was kind of confusing. My friend put us in the waitlist at 9:30am and we didn't get seated till a little past 11am. It just said wait for the host to text you, but we never received a text. We had to check in with the host stand and still had to wait to be seated. I just wish it was a little more clear in what you have to do. In my reservation I had mentioned we were celebrating an 18th birthday, but no mention was made. The table was dirty and everything had a film on it. The sides of the table had grease and dirt. After waiting at Tucker's down the street from friendly toast, (one hour wait ) I checked nearby breakfast spots and saw friendly toast had no wait. I tried about 8 times adding ourselves to the waitlist on yelp. I kept getting an error message and just figured maybe they don't take wait list names when there's no wait.as we were walking out of tuckers, the family walking out said out loud "I can't believe it's an hour wait". So being friendly I said, "we're going to friendly toast there's no wait!" And they followed. I get there, told there's a 10 minute wait. (Annoying but no biggie at this point. ) the family walks in that I referred. They go to hostess and she tells them, ten minute wait. My crazy three year old started knocking over (was it a juke box?) and being a little wild so I went to sit her the a very empty bar near the hostess stand with her iPad so she would just sit still. To be told she can't sit there and we can't eat there because she's a kid . Also annoying and super "unfriendly". Then I watch a guy come to front and sit the family AFTER us! At this point, I'm hangry; and totally felt dismissed and disrespected. So unprofessional and unacceptable. Decided to stop here for a late breakfast on a Tuesday. It wasn't busy. The waiter Mike was sweet, took our drink order and after quickly returning, gave us a couple more minutes to make our choices. My husband ordered eggs over easy, rye toast home fries and sausage. I ordered eggs benedict, sauce on the side with ham and home fries. When we received our order, ( took longer than expected) my husband's eggs were over hard, fried, but the home fries were essentially raw. They were grossly undercooked. I ate one of my poached eggs, but I struggled to saw through the English muffin with my butter knife, resorting to the side of my fork which was also a futile attempt. My ham had more char on it than visible pink. It was also so salty that I had to remove it from my mouth. My husband prompted me to try the home fries. Seriously undercooked, and cold. After getting the waiter's attention, he brought the manager. She agreed the potatoes were undercooked and apologized. She also brought us coupons to use for another visit. We appreciated the efforts to make it right, but I know we'll never return. Before I left I stuffed a nice tip in Mike's hand because it wasn't his fault. Such a disappointment. Been to The Friendly Toast a couple times. Usually always a good experience. This time was honestly horrible. The bartender was great and doing her job. Our food order was put in at 12:22. A couple came in about 30 minutes after us, and the guy ordered the same thing we did. It was the Buffalo chicken sandwich on cheddar jalapeño bread, which 30 minutes after we ordered we were informed they were out of that bread. The couples food came out before ours. My burrito clearly had been under a heat lamp for a while and my potato's were cold. The chicken sandwich was cold and the bread seemed stale. They brought out another burrito from me, still clearly under a heat lamp and the potatoes just seemed microwaved. The manager seemed to lack any concern to apologize or see if anything could be rectified and left all responsibilities on the bartender. Again the bartender was great and on top of her work, she apologized a couple times. But our food took an hour and wasn't satisfactory, my gf didn't even want a box for her food..... My son has a lot of anxiety about food and his peanut/tree nut allergies. He was anxious about eating here, but when the server heard about this, she assured us that nothing had any kind of nut in it. She was very kind and reassuring with my kiddo. After that, someone (who I could only assume was some kind of manager of the store) came over and assured us that there was absolutely no nuts in the restaurant whatsoever. For a breakfast & brunch place, they do have an interesting menu that has your classics as well as creative takes on the usual breakfast items. Would I return? Maybe, but I'm in no rush. The decor is funky and I like that they have a full bar. Overall, the food is okay albeit a little pricy. We started off with the "Nacho Business" and added barbacoa braised beef. I'm a fan of all things Tex-Mex being a true Texas gal through and through but I thought these were alright. The barbacoa was not too shabby. I wasn't a huge fan of the chips but I couldn't put my finger on it as to why. The queso wasn't all too flavorful either ...probably because it's just melted jalapeño jack with nothing added to it. The dish was pretty boring. I definitely made use of the side of avocado-lime sauce to add some much needed freshness and contrast - I just wish there was more of it. I opted for the "Waffle" and added fresh berries & whipped cream. No complaints there but if you can't make waffles can you even establish yourself as a breakfast joint? The Friendly Toast is my new favorite spot in Bedford! I have lived in Bedford for close to 3 years and have not come across a spot that has the same vibes along with phenomenal food. Location- The Friendly Toast is an easily accessible location near not only the highway but within 10 mins of Manchester, Merrimack, Amherst, and Goffstown. There is plenty of parking. One time we were able to sit outside because it was a bright sunny day. The patio is gorgeous and relaxing. They have umbrellas if there is to much son. The other time we sat inside on a booth. The booth was comfortable,clean, and spacious. Wait- I see lots of complaints about the wait. Both times that I went was around 9-10:30am during the week. I did not have to wait and was immediately seated. I did see that you could make a reservation online for the weekends or make a reservation directly through yelp. Drinks- I am a huge fan of Mimosas! I was able to get the Mimosa flight the first time and my friend got the Espresso Martini. Both were phenomenal. I think the flight is the best way to try all the mimosas. My favorite would definitely have to be the Peach Mimosa! I am looking forward to going back to try a Bloody Mary. Food- Both times that I went I got the Hashbrown Quiche which was full of flavor. The overall crust that is made of hashbrown is super crispy than the scrambled eggs mixed with cheese, peppers, onions, sour cream, and scallions were phenomenal. The first time I tried the Cinnamon Raison toast which was to die for and the second time I tried the Cayenne Cheddar which was most definitely on the spicy side but so yummy. Waitstaff- Both times we went we were greeted promptly and sat! Our waitresses had no problems making suggestions and letting us know what the favorites were since it was our first time.
