Not only was the line moving at a snails pace, but there were times where we were literally standing (or resorted to sitting) in the same block on the sidewalk for 20+ minutes with zero movement. At about 9:30pm, a group of 30 soccer players showed up, went to the VIP line and were in and out within an hour, meanwhile, we had moved approximately 30 feet forward. They say they let in two VIP groups for every one regular, but honestly this simply cannot be the case based on how slow we were moving. We also started timing how much time elapsed between groups and there seemed to by no rhyme or reason, sometimes it was a minute, but twice, it got up to three minutes between groups. I love that they want to give you the experience with just your group, however, to be effective, it really needs to be specific days/timed slots, because we would have 100% turned around and come a different day had someone told us we would be waiting for even over 2 hours. As for the haunted house itself, it's sick, it's really well done and in my opinion, a great level of scare. However, after attending Halloween Horror Nights at LA and Orlando's Universal Studios, where the longest amount of time we ever waited was 2 hours, 3.5 for a standalone is downright ridiculous and significantly played into our overall experience.

This year was my first time attending the RMSHC specialty, and it was held at the Al Lesser building. The grounds themselves were clean and beautiful. There was construction going on as well, but we never had an issue getting to our show site. The building was spacious, and there was even a microwave for me to reheat leftovers. Chairs were provided, and were quite comfy. Parking was plentiful, and there was a gorgeous lake for those who wished to take their dogs on a nice scenic walk. There were plenty of spots for photo ops as well! At the end of our specialty weekend, we made sure to pick up after ourselves and swept the whole building clean. As those involved in the longevity/breed preservation of well-bred purebred dogs, we were conscientious to present our best foot forward and leave no room for complaints. This was honestly such a wonderful venue, and I liked it much better than some of the fairgrounds that I've shown at in my home state of CA. I did hear that they would be raising their rates for renting the building, unfortunately, which is happening across so many venues these days. Hopefully we can return to show here again in 2028, but we shall have to wait and see.

What was off to me so that the pieces were not named and didn't have a blurb about their background which I've seen at other fairs. It's nice to have a little background to what inspired the artist. The larger exhibit room with 4H didn't open until noon, despite the website's posting of 10 am. The other exhibit hall had some exhibitors like a local bee club but several of those exhibits were unstaffed like the disaster response table. The bee club was hopping and interesting. Food wasn't really available, maybe one place. Customer service booth wasn't staffed at 11:30 a.m. when we left. Plenty of parking. Website said we had to pay but we didn't but maybe we were really early.

The entire festival is an abuse of the paying customers and the vendors as in reality it is a giant marketing scheme for condo sales in Breckinridge. They oversell the tickets so there are hour long lines for each vendor and award fake "prizes" which are actually condo stays that include a mandatory 2 hour high pressure sales presentation. More than half of the vendors have absolutely NOTHING to do with chocolate like Andersen Windows and Cutco knives. Stay away, there are better events out there.

Each ticket is a "taste ticket" which entitles you to a good size trial piece at each place! It's a pretty small venue, so a few hours on one of the days is more than sufficient to see everything. Still not a beer fan, but I can appreciate what they were going for. Wine pairing is next on my list! -awards ceremony- since I went on the second day, I had the advantage of going to this to pick out where to spend all my taste tickets! -german chocolate-there was german chocolate that cools in your mouth as it melts. talk about WOWZA!!! -life size blow up balls- if you bring the kids they can run at each other in life size clear balls. Unfortunately, the experience getting there and being packed in shoulder to shoulder with people was not fun at all. I tried to stay positive, but it ended up being long lines, parking chaos, and overall disappointment. Parking has always been limited, so plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early to circle for a spot. The lines felt like TSA at the airport, which really took away from the experience. As for the event itself, it was mostly moving lights and some carved pumpkins lined up in a row. A few of the larger sculptures were cool, but beyond that, there wasn't much that felt new or exciting. For their 10-year anniversary, I expected something more impressive. Sadly, we won't be going back next year or recommending it to others. If you want a fun, spooky event that's actually worth it, go to Magic of the Jack O' Lanterns instead. That one never disappoints.

If it were spread out throughout the entire month of October, I believe it would help diffuse those claustrophobic lines. Other then those two issues, the lights and Halloween scenery is lovely. I won't say much to not ruin any surprises, but there is nice amount of things to see. My favorite event at the Botanic Gardens is the Christmas one because of the synchronized light show. The Halloween one is second place. It would be cool if they added Halloween music and synchronized light shows. There are some spots to buy food and snacks. Many items get sold out quickly, so be sure to buy yours as fast as you can. Lots of little children at this event and they seem to enjoy it just as much as the adults. Parking garages available and it's free, however parking is limited. We found a spot after circling around for 30 minutes. Denver is a busy city, so that's expected.

It was also supposed to start at 7p per our Groupon. We showed up at 730p and they told us that only VIPs were allowed in at 7p and that we couldn't get in until 9p. Well, we showed them the Groupon and they let us in. When we got in, we realized that they just opened and nothing was set up. The dancers didn't start on the stage til 8 something and performers were still trickling in. If I had paid for VIP, I would have been disappointed since they were still trying to figure out the night. Most of the entertainment was in their After Dark area, but it was so divided and crammed that it wasn't really worth watching the acts upstairs. I felt that the other stages upstairs in After Dark were thrown in a corner. The downstairs in Diamond Cabaret were 1 stage of performers and 3 stages for their normal dancers. The headliner for the event who was supposed to be a world renowned fetish model was on stage for maybe 3 min. Her act consisted of sitting on a chair, removing her shoes and stockings, putting on ankle bondage cuffs, removing her bra and skirt, putting on wrist bondage cuffs and a blindfold, then being escorted off the stage but a not so pretty drag queen. They also installed a small dance floor in between the stages. Normal tickets were $39 for damsels and $79 for dukes. I felt like it was a glorified costume party at a strip club. Highly disappointed especially considering the prices to get in. My husband and I left before midnight because it was just a let down. Entrance to After Dark was an additional price at $20/person.

The selfie with the light broke as we were waiting in line for it. just overall way too expensive for the experience, which was very college like considering how expensive the tickets tables and drinks were.

There's a beautiful garden space in the back as well where you can sit surrounded by plants. The show itself was very engaging for our kids (age 4, 6) as there is audience participation and jokes during the performance. They even incorporated all of the kids name at the beginning and a very positive introduction about when to listen vs when to engage. Very impressive that the owner does all of this herself. Our only minor complaint is that there were one or two pieces of dialogue not well suited for kids (e.g. stealing away someone's girlfriend) and some verbal fillers. However, overall we had a great time and will definitely be back for the next show!

We enjoyed the pre-show decorating of our "ticket puppet" with construction paper and markers and looking around at all the wonderful puppets and marionettes hanging throughout the building. The main theater area is very roomy, clean and quiet. It has little "mini theaters" set up inside where the kids could put on their own puppet shows before and after the big performance. The show was very good! Our two-year old was captivated for most of the time, smiling and waving her little "ticket puppet" in the air. My only minor disappointment in the performance itself was that it had a fair amount of "filler" in it, which can be understandable considering the story in question, but the extra banter of the "father not being able to find any food while hunting" or the kids "finding and eating the mouse's berries in the forest" caused a few of the kids to lose interest. It almost seemed like it would make more sense to put on two shorter performances than trying to extend one story to fill the time allotment. It may also have to do with this particular story. Perhaps other stories don't have such a dramatic problem? Anyway, please don't let this dissuade you from visiting the theater! We had a great time and your kids will love it too!
