NeNe is my go-to Korean chicken spot. This is my first time visiting this location, and it didn't disappoint! Staff were very friendly and attentive. We ordered Nene combo that comes with 1 medium chicken + Tteokboki/beef/pork + shake shake fries + 2 soda ($36 weekdays / &39 weekends) That was pretty good portion, and we had leftovers that was a full meal for next day lunch. Fried chicken was crispy and juicy as always. My favourite is the cheese power one, but the onion cream(?) one that mu friend ordered was pretty good too! Shake Shake fries were very crispy and perfectly seasoned with cheese powder (honestly not so sure exactly what it is.. tasted like cheese powder that is subtle sweet and light salty flavour, which was perfect for beer snack) If you like Korean food, this is a pretty good deal with generous portion. There were some kind of art drawings everywhere inside of this store!

We had trouble getting the servers attention several times but he did bring the food out in a timely manner. The chicken and oysters were so crunchy, and the japchae was piping hot. I honestly would come to eat the oysters (they were 10.95 for 8 pieces and they were pretty small, but we got them 50% off because of the google review discount promo so it was pretty worth it) This is a casual Korean fried chicken joint where you can order drinks if you wanted to, lots of wide booths at this particular location. The times I've come for takeout was rather empty so I'm hoping more people visit this place because it's pretty good.

When I hear the name Nene, it always reminds me of the former Brazilian NBA player, Nene Hilario. Of course, Nene Chicken has Korean origins, so no affiliation to Brazil nor the player. Nene simply means, Yes! Yes! in Korean. So was the experience a nene or an aniyo? I'd say it's somewhere in between. Based on what we ordered, it was good value. Because I went with my older one, we ordered the Pokémon combo for two which included a mid size Korean fried chicken, a serving of bulgogi, lots of fries, two cans of pop and a Pokémon model toy. The fried chicken was alright. We opted for the sweet and spicy flavour that only had one chilly on the spiciness index. Even for me, it was extremely mild. The batter was solid, but there were parts of the chicken that was a bit overcooked. The bulgogi was quite sweet and I felt like it's a version that I can easily make at home with your run of the mill grocery store bought bulgogi sauce. Despite a large portion, the fries were as generic as you can get. They feel like the cheapest fries that were available from the frozen food aisle. Since they started the combo in late August, they only have one variety of Pokémon model left. I don't blame them for that. Consider the model toy typically retail at around $12-15, like I said before, the combo offered good value. Based on this experience, if I have an urge for some Korean fried chicken, I know Nene would not be the first place I think of. If you must try the chicken place with 1000 locations across South Korea, go for it. But, as with most chained restaurant in Canada, you are not missing out a whole lot if you don't.

I heard about Nene Chicken from a YouTube video. Apparently it's a well-known Korean fried chicken restaurant. I noticed it when I visited the plaza recently as it replaced the Katsuya restaurant. On weekdays, there is a lunch special but it only includes a few dishes. I wanted to see what all the rave was about, so I ordered the Korean fried chicken. I also ordered the oysters because that's one of my favorite dishes. The oysters arrived first. It came with a mayo dipping sauce. I thought the oysters were cooked quite well and the mayo was a perfect complement. The Korean fried chicken was really good. Not only were they able to get the chicken skin lightly crispy, but the inside was juicy. It was the best of both worlds, move over KFC! I brought some of the chicken home and although it ended up a bit soggy at dinner time, that was rectified with 7 minutes of air frying. Overall I thought the food was good and the service was friendly and inviting.

Inside is so cute the booths are nice it's like a little hut, staff were very friendly! Food was good a lot of items were shareable among 5 people originally we were told 2 people can share a dish but we were able to share between 5 people and it was filling. For the corn cheese it got cold fast, it would have been nice it was on the sizzling plate to keep warm. The fried chicken was was served in good portions Was not a fan of the shack shack fries Overall I would still recommend this spot if your in the Vaughan mills area

Nene Chicken is our go to spot for delicious Korean Fried Chicken near Vaughan Mills! The restaurant is spacious and cozy and their staff is friendly. It is located in a plaza offering plenty of parking spots. We tried their snowing cheese fried chicken, Beef Bulgogi, corn cheese, Shake Shake fries and Kimchi Fried Rice. I definitely recommend these dishes if you haven't tried already.

A wonderful experience through and through. Delicious food and lovely hosts. It was super packed and loud but we still really enjoyed it here!! Service was quick and they were super friendly. This very much reminded me of the downtown location I've been to before for a yelp event. Absolutely loved it.

Welcoming employees and a clean, nice ambiance. This is the newest Korean fried chicken spot in Vaughan Mills Plaza. Generous portions for great value--$38.99 for two medium chickens, with an additional $2 to mix flavors. I recommend the spicy flavor, known for its popular sweet and spicy sauce! (Not that spicy!) They currently have several promotions, including 50% off snack and a combo deal for $49 that includes multiple appetizers, medium chicken, and beer!

From the outside you wouldn't know it's as cute inside as it is. The server was very friendly and super helpful in helping us decide what to get. We shared the Kimchi friend rice and boneless chicken. We were able to do half and half with the flavor and we chose Swicy and Soy Garlic. They both were very good! The rice was delicious. Definitely recommend. You do pay for the quality but it was yummy.

We really like Korean Fried Chicken and get it from time to time, but we have "our place" that we always go to so I was excited/a bit worried when my partner suggested we get fried chicken and said "Let's try Nene". We ordered takeout and the experience was great. The staff who took our order over the phone and helped us with the pickup in store were both very pleasant and were able to handle our request no problem. This is a new location and it was small but very nice and clean, with about 10 tables. There's no designated pickup spot but because the restaurant is so small it was easy to get served. We ordered the family size fried chicken (always bone-in!) with spicy sauce on the side. This is our strategy to ensure that when we get it home the chicken is not soggy. The box we received was so full it was bulging and smelled great. Really loved the Canada Day themed art on the box! We got it home in about 15 minutes and the chicken was still very crispy and piping hot. The sauce was tasty but more on the sweet side rather than spicy. A bit different than what I'm used to but still good. Overall, it was great and I wouldn't hesitate to order Korean fried chicken from Nene Chicken again.

Ambiance is casual, interior is clean, and service is fast and attentive. We ordered a couple of dishes and they all came out relatively quickly. The banchan (small side dishes) are refillable once only. My favourite banchan of the day were the bean sprouts and eggplant. There were lots of vegetarian and vegan options, such as the Steamed Vegetable Dumplings, Vegetables Bibimbap, Mushrooms Bibimbap, Vegetables Udon, Vegetables Fried Rice, Kimchi Pancake, Soondubu-jjigae (Soft Tofu Stew) in different variations, and more. The menu was pretty extensive, covering the most typical Korean dishes from the stews and grilled items, to a few Korean-Chinese dishes (such as Jajangmyeon) and everything in between. Steamed Vegetables Dumplings were quite small individually, but came in a sizeable portion. I liked the green onion garnish. Taste-wise, they were alright. Vegetables Bibimbap was excellent - good amount of mixed vegetables (spinach, zucchini, mushrooms, carrot strips, lettuce, bean sprouts) and the fried egg was perfectly crispy on the outer edges, with a still gooey and runny yolk. Grilled Croaker was also decent. It had a lot of small bones as it was a whole fish. It came served with purple rice, and we chose to add on extra lettuce. Seafood Knife Cut Noodles came in a big portion - with lots of slippery, thick udon noodles, pieces of seafood (mussels, clams, squid, shrimps, octopus), and a little big of vegetables (zucchini, carrot, onion). They came in a nice seafood-infused broth - perfect for a cold winter day. I'd come again for the variety of menu items they offer (especially the wide selection of vegetarian options), satisfying tastes, and great & efficient service.

Definitely not my first time here as I've come with family or friends over the past 15+ years, every time, leaving very satisfied. Made sure to arrive for opening time to get a table right away since based on past experience, the wait can take some time, especially for dinner or on the weekends. Of course, had to order my two favourite menu items: 물냉면 - Mool naengmyun (Cold Noodles) and 김치찜 - Kimchi jjim (Braised Kimchi with Pork Belly). Have tried their other dishes in the past, which are pretty standard, but always find myself still gravitating back to these two. The slushy broth is always so tasty and refreshing! They also bring out a good variety of 반찬 - banchan (side dishes). Parking was easy to find this time since we got there early, but sometimes you have to circle around a few times or park at a neighbouring plaza and walk over. Hoping they reopen somewhere else soon!

Both ttukbegae bowls came with purple rice and banchan. DIVINE. Service was efficient. Polite. We also didn't see the previous owner when picking up. We totally regret that we didn't come back sooner to support the old man owner while he was still there. We really like him and his passion for his food and his generosity. I hope the owner who ran the shop before is enjoying his happy retired life and finally gets to move back to his country and reconnect with his family. Food-wise, it's been a while since we had the collagen soup, but it feels a bit bland compared to what we had in the past. However, I'm glad they gave us some salt and pepper on the side because adding that does elevate the soup a lot more and you can add to your liking. It's just a bit odd that they packaged the warmed soup in a plastic bag for takeout. The fried chicken is good but needed a dipping sauce (which it came with on the side) for flavour; it's not as juicy and the batter isn't as fluffy as I once remembered it. Also, the prices are higher, which could be due to the rise in costs, but there are no more takeout specials; we're paying the same rate as if we were dining in. Portion-wise, it's just barely enough to feed two for $45, including tax. Though I did have a side piece of bread at home, which was all that's needed for a more filling meal. The soup includes rice and two side dishes. All in all still a delicious meal.

Disclaimer: this review is for my visit in the summer of 2023…read more I can't get over all the 4-5 star reviews for this place. I have been wanting to try this place for a while since there aren't too many Korean restaurants that specialize in Seol-lung-tang in Toronto. So when I invited my sister out for our monthly lunch date, I was very very excited. Entering the restaurant, I was shocked by how dumpy the place was as some reviewers described the place as cozy. There were maybe less than 10 tables with wobbly wooden partitions haphazardly strewn about in between them. The black tabletops had visible wipe marks from being wiped down with unclean cloth. There was also an off putting smell that I couldn't quite pinpoint to and this should have been my cue to leave but we decided to give it a try since we drove some way to eat here. Since Han Oak claims to specialize in their soups, we ordered their Tteuk-Seol-lung-tang (Special beef bone soup) in both regular broth and spicy broth. Our soups arrived in tiny earthen bowls that the word "Tteuk" describing the menu item was put to shame. Despite that "Tteuk" was supposed to have extra meat and larger than their regular size, our portions were dismal. However, the small portion in this case turned out to be a blessing as I knew that the off putting smell I had smelled upon entering the restaurant was coming from the actual soups themselves. Against my better judgement, we ate the soups and both got sick later that day. There was nothing special about the flavours of their soup nor was it really a product of a long-boil as they claim. The soup was milky (typical of Korean bone soups) but light on depth and flavour which was beyond disappointing. Also, typically in Korea, any restaurant that specializes in these types of long-boil soups have superb kimchi; unfermented napa cabbage kimchi and well fermented radish kimchi. The kimchi that came out with our meal, both napa cabbage and radish, were too sour and well beyond being acceptable as a banchan. They should have cooked with it instead of serving it as a side. The lone server was busy staring into her phone the whole time we were eating and this ridiculous meal came to a little over $50. I will not be returning to this restaurant and my search for an authentic Seol-lung-tang in Toronto will continue.
