I like the Galley Hatch and have been going there for years (so no complaints with the food or the service). I was really happy when I discovered that they had a rewards program. I'm the type of person that likes to save up rewards and then cash in all at once. I was trying to save up for $200 in credits at the restaurant so each time I went I just had the server add on. I was within 1 more credit to get to my $200 goal and when I returned to the restaurant and went to use my points, the amount was half (7- $15 credits), previously I had 13- $15 credits. I was really surprised and thought there was a mistake, then my server told me that your points expire. When I signed up, no one mentioned it me and on every occasion when I went there - servers would ask if I wanted to use my points and I told them no that was saving until $200 (which provided and opportunity to say -- you know the points expire). While appreciate that Galley Hatch has a loyalty program, I really think that they should be up front about the limitations and post to their website the terms and conditions. I was really disappointed that despite 20 plus trips that not a single server ever told me that my points would expire. read more

my wife and I went for dinner on 8/26/14. The staff was great, but food not so much. We had nachos to start they were ok. My wife ordered steak tips medium she had to send them back for being well done then the second order was just as bad. They did remove them from the bill. I ordered broiled haddock with rice pilaf and squash. The fish was cooked well, but the breadcrumbs were caked on. The squash was very flavorful, but the rice was nothing special. Overall the experience was underwhelming and not being able to eat together was frustrating. I had heard great things, but they must have had a bad night. I will probably give them a second chance, but the first impression was a swing and a miss read more

Wow what a surprise. Great dinner. So I ordered one of the specials, roast turkey dinner with all the fixings. Mashed, stuffing, butternut squash, turkey and cranberry sauce. My family of 4, wanted something different and great for dinner. Than the usual friendlys or 99 while on vacation. Read some reviews and decided to try this for our last vacation dinner. We went in around 7, on a Friday night and was quite busy. But even so we waited max ten Min. For our table. Our waitress I will add was phenomenal . Not only patient and understanding but Soo helpful. And even was completely responsive to my autistic sons behavior and routines when it comes to ordering his good. The atmosphere busy but yet relaxed. The basket of different types of bread were awesome! The draft beer was cold and crisp. The food came out pretty fast. The even had a crustless pb n j on the kids menu for cheap. So my son enjoyed that. My husband got the tuna wrap, I ordered the reef and beef, filet mgnon and I substituted the shrimp for broiled scallops with bread crumbs. I will say the wrap was awesome the tuna was fresh, the potatoe salad tastes great and home made. The mashed potatoes were good and so was the squash. We had buffalo tenders also, they were nice and spicy but not over abundant, tasted like there was a hint of honey! Let's just say the food was absolutely great! My fav things I tried was the scallops and buffalo tenders. But top of the list is the scallops, the filet mignon was cooked and seasoned good, but nothing special. Those scallops though WOw next time I'll be ordering a giant plate of broiled scallops with there bread crumbs! Hands down the best I've tasted so far. Cute place, adequate food. I don't care what the other reviews say. Nothing here has flavor except the desserts. The servers are awesome, the decor is cozy for a nice winter's eve. But the food.... we did not complain because honestly we didnt think it was BAD per se... just really really not good. Plain and expensive. $30 for broiled scallops that I was dying resisting to ask for cocktail sauce or something ANYTHING to give it flavor. I never use these types of condiments on my food. My fiance needed A1 for his steak tips and veggies. I repeat, we NEVER use these condiments. After dropping over $100 were glad we got a few desserts because, yes, they are delicious. Delicious option for the whole family this Christmas Eve dinner 2017. Normally it's too spicy a dish for me but their Portuguese Seafood Stew was soooooo perfect, with excellent portions of shellfish (chunks of lobster!!), kale & jasmine rice. The place was decorated in a glorious holiday manner & the staff maintained a festive atmosphere altho it seemed completely sold-out. Very tasty! I've been here a million times.Their specialty is seafood, but I always have plenty of vegetarian options to choose from. All the pasta dishes I've had here have been delish! As you walk in the front door you'll see a large bakery counter/case filled with yummy desserts. The portions are huge so buy some pastry to take home. They prices are pretty reasonable considering the amount of food they give you. This is one of my favorite restaurants on the NH Seacoast. read more

This has been one of my family's favorite places for many years. Friendly service, good, consistent food and reasonable prices.

I have been eating at the galley for probably 20years. Often I would go on a night when they offered the prime rib. The meal was always excellent and the service special. Last night there were 8 of us. I thought service was slow, the waitresses not well heeled and too much in your face further there was a issue with who would pay (meaning I wanted to pay but one of our party who had made the reservation had said he wanted to). The matter was handled badly by the staff who ultimately responded to the matter saying that the Manager says its Policy and that's it. Now to get back to dinner I went with the prime rib it was tasteless and disappointing. read more

Love the Galley Hatch..always a good meal..Tinos is another story..the menu at Tinos sucks and the portions are meager. DO NOT GO TO TINOS. Stay downstairs and go to the Galley Hatch. I've been there dozens of times. The bar area is great! The raw bar is also very good! I love the Tappas menu and the wine selection. A great place to go on date night. Although I've been going to the Hampton/Rye area on vacation my entire life, I ate at the Galley Hatch for the first time last week and it was very good. I was surprised by how large the restaurant is inside. We were seated immediately and our waitress was very nice and very good. Our daughters enjoyed their kids meals and my husband and I both enjoyed our meals as well. We would definitely go back on our next vacation. read more

The Hatch never disappoints! Love this place and they really do everything well. Place is beautifully decorated and so nice to relax in. We love to eat in the bar, if it's the two of us and in the dining room if it's a bigger group. The Onion Soup, Chicken Romano and Swordfish on this trip, were all delicious. Great wine choices and always reasonably priced. Our server Leslie was accommodating and gracious, she has been an asset to this restaurant for years. Never miss a visit when in the area, usually try for two. Pizza one time is a must, not to mention the Steak and Cheese, Onion Rings, Lobster Roll and the Yarmouth Sandwich do the trick. I was in town for a half marathon with my wife and kids. This was perfect! I had an awesome prime rib and my wife had the fish sandwich with avocado. Kids loved there food and we started off with a nacho platter. Katy our server gave us just the right amount of attention even though they were very busy. Kids loved the aquarium too. So a bit of a disappointment for us. We got there just after the lunch rush waited 10 mins to be seated which was not bad at all. Our server was slow to greet us there seemed to be some disorganization between the hostess and servers. The French onion soup was excellent a little on the cool side not super hot. The Jumbo shrimp lacked any crunch and didn't taste like it was The freshest Dinner rolls were fresh and warm. It seemed a long wait between apps and the main course. The marinated steak tips were tough and over cooked the baked potatoe was under. The burger was fair with a nice char on it and French Fries were standard but tasted like they were cooked in the same fryer with fish. Didn't do the dessert. Drinks were on the weaker side of the spectrum. The price vs quality of food and service was not on par for a good value. Won't rush back anytime soon read more

My family and I come the Galley hatch a lot to celebrate special occasions. The service is always good, and so is the food. The feta dip is great, and the clam chowder is my favorite out of any place I have been. I also love their steak and cheese and roast beef baron. We will keep coming back! read more

I ate there about 2 weeks ago and recieved cold steak tips, saugy onion rings, and my mothers fish wasn't only a bad presentation..but extremely aged and likely not safe to eat. The next night I went out to dinner and met a girl that ate there a few weeks before and recieved a black and blue filet which is priced at 28 dollars. My father ate there about a month ago and recieved food poisoning for 24 hours. The galley hatch was always a favorite for me growing up but as far as now goes, they need help. Restaurants have a natural life cycle. At some point they become dated and well, they just don't care. Took a couple out with us for a birthday dinner last night. While two of the entree's seemed ok, two of us had the "pork tenderloin" special. What showed up were two slabs of "pork" which I'd say was probably leftover half inch thick boneless chops. Tough. Flavorless. Some horrible pasty brown glop of gravy on top. Overcooked, and yet cold, vegetables. Fingerling potatoes tossed on, probably just to get rid of them. I'd say the Hatch is on the downslide and has outlived it's appeal. After 25 years as a returning customer I'm done. There are plenty of better and more affordable restaurants to patronize. However, good desserts, so, I suppose that's why it's not a one star review. read more

The buffalo tenders had amazing sauce, but we're more like chicken cutlets rather than tenders, which I wasn't the happiest with. Just stopped in for a drinks and apps. First off had to wait to be seated nobody was their to seat us so we seated ourselves. We ordered bloodymarries, onion rings and a side of sweet potato fries. The drinks were ok, the fries ok but the onion rings were disgusting I think they were left over from the night before and reheated.....gross. this place sure has gone downhill. read more

Galley Hatch began decades ago as a pizza place and today its simple cheese pizza up through its sea-food laden artisan aquarian individual pizzas are as good as pizza gets. Appetizers are generally tasty too, as is the French dip sandwich and the garden salads. I've often ordered all these to go or enjoyed them in the bar area which I prefer to the former dining rooms. read more

We ate dinner last Saturday night with another couple at the Galley Hatch. We were pleased to be able to be seated right away and found the service was friendly and efficient. We loved the warm feta cheese dip appetizer. The baked stuffed haddock my husband ordered was fantastic and I ordered the seafood risotto which was very good but a little liquidy for my taste. I did however eat all the wonderful seafood which was in it! Gave it four stars because I reserve 5 stars for upscale restaurants but feel this is certainly a "go to" place - very casual with great service and wonderful food. read more

A large restaurant with an even larger menu. This should give you a bit of trepidation but they pull it off reasonably well just up the road at the Old Salt, so I wasn't too leery on my first visit. Our meal started out well with great clam chowder and a very nice spinach salad, but things went downhill from there. The cornbread and rolls are nothing special, which shouldn't be the case when you have an on-site bakery. Our entrees were underwhelming, as the sesame encrusted haddock was merely ok (it would have been better if it were hot!) and the cedar plank salmon was glazed in a sauce whose sweetness is definitely undersold on the menu description. Sweet and salmon should only pass like two ships in the night. This was a collision. Lastly, attention all restaurants who want to put creme brulee on the menu. Make a decent one! This one was about 5mm thick with a massive dollop of whipped cream and cinammon sticks on top. Lose that stupid garnish, deepen your bowl just a bit, and put a decent shell on it! It was not a terrible dining experience, but the Old Salt does the same thing a bit better and it is just up the street, so I don't see myself going back to the Galley Hatch. read more

But, this Saturday night, we sat by the fireplace. Our waitress was adorable and attentive. My glass of J. Lohr was lovely. Back to the Galley Hatch this weekend with my wife and in-laws. I had the steak and cheese sandwich with onion rings which was fine (B+) . They forgot to put the chicken teriyaki on my Mother-in-law's chicken teriyaki salad (D-) . For dessert, I had the 7-Layer brownie served with vanilla ice cream (as suggested on the menu) . The brownie was served cold (like rock hard cold) so it really didn't go soooo well with the ice cream (C-). My wife said the key lime pie was unremarkable (C). Bottom line: Abandon ship! read more
