Nice little shop within Exeter. The moment you walk-in, there's a nice warm and cozy feeling of being at home. The counter is filled with treats. All too tempting to have. I got a 20oz. Chai Latte. Make sure you let them know if you want hot because they default to cold. I love the warm and rich Chai flavor in this breezy November weather. My daughter and I shared the lentil soup and turkey havarti sandwich. It tasted really good. The sandwiches are warm straight from the grill. The soup is rich and full of flavor. I don't understand all the crappy reviews. I had not been here in years and was in dire need of a quick sandwich while in Exeter. Almost skipped it after seeing the general rating. First of all, the place was mobbed and people seemed to be happily eating. The line was quick. I ordered the "veritable veggie" sandwich ($9.95 w/chips) and the peach passionfruit iced tea. Both came fast and were excellent. Bread was fresh and veggies were crisp. Noise wasn't too bad except for a semi-rude couple on their phones who thought we needed to hear their conversations. I go to Ollie's a few times a year while in Exeter ... The visit yesterday was disappointing. Ordered a medium Cappuccino and tossed in one of the large peanut butter cookies at the register. The Cappuccino was rather weak coffee-wise, and the $2.75 peanut butter cookie was just OK ... wasn't dry but also not moist. Would have been much better if crunchy peanut butter (or at least a few peanuts pressed on top) and a quality oil were used. read more

A convenient sandwich shop right in the center of downtown Exeter with online ordering and a small parking lot as well. We used to visit Me & Ollies at another location years ago, but not so much anymore. Since we lost our favorite sandwich shop in Exeter (retired/moved), we thought we would give Me & Ollies a try. On the positive side our order was ready when we arrived, and everything seemed fresh, but honestly the sandwich was uninspiring. We ordered a turkey and smoked mozzarella and it seemed like average supermarket deli meat, not real turkey. Barely any cheese, and honestly you could make a better sandwich at home. There was nothing in this sandwich that would call to me to try again. If you need a fast and inexpensive bite, then this will do, but otherwise you can find better, tastier and more creative sandwiches around. read more

In visiting my family in a small town - I love having a quick little coffee shop to hit up before we get on the road. The coffee is decent - better than Dunkin - and service is pretty quick. Today I got an early Ollie and a bagel and cream cheese, a regular coffee and a bottle of water. Sure - it's pricier than a Dunkin, but it's better. I enjoy the sourdough bread for the breakfast sandwich a lot, and with the added bacon in my sandwich it was quite perfect for the ride home. I wish there were more parking for those cold New England winter days - but I'll keep stopping when I'm around. read more

I guess with Dunkin Donuts being their flagship "coffee" house I shouldn't have high expectations. I got steamed milk with a drop of coffee. The pastries were tasty (muffin and cinnamon roll) but the spinach wrap was...hmm...perplexing. I couldn't decipher if the squares of something were egg or tofu (texture of very firm tofu with zero flavor), there was two small crumbs of feta and hock had the only flavor and a smear of avocado which on a toasted a d very hot wrap was, just strange. Went there today with my wife and son. Got two of those maple egg sandwiches... they were burnt beyond belief. When I asked the girl on the grill (brown hair mid 30s) she verbatim said "it's from the grill what do you want from me?" Then gave me a dirty look and threw her hands up in the air. I was stunned and went to the woman behind the counter (blonde a bit older) and asked to see the manager. She said "why? What do you want?" He came over and was nice enough and remade the food for us. He was nice enough, but seemed like he as used to this. He remade it and it was ok. I've never been to a place where the customer service and experience was so bad. And reading reviews this is common. I also asked a friend of mine who lives in the area if he's experienced this... he said "yes, gave up on this place a long time ago." Looks like I will also. read more

This combo bakery, eatery is well worth the visit. Parking is limited and many patrons come by bike, foot or stroller. But get there before closing a three. We have tried several sandwiches and salads and they are generous in size and taste. A large array of baked delights and breads. I was just finishing up some work here around closing time and had to listen to the guy and two girls working mock two customers who asked if they could get a salad (only serving beverages and pastries at closing time) once they had left. They Then proceeded to make fun of a group of guys who had just left as well. In short don't go here they openly insult their customers. read more

I went here while The Green Bean across the street, a go to in Exeter when I'm there, was under renovation. At noon, I was told they were out of almost half their baked goods,,,in a bakery that's opened for another 5 hours? Ok. The menu had very little in terms of vegetarian or vegan options. I stood for 5 minutes at the counter while not being spoken to by any of the three girls working who were all busy chatting and laughing while making the same coffee. After I finally got one over, she seemed inconvenienced by by presence. I ended up getting just a chai tea and it took nearly ten minutes while they all went back to just talking and ignoring customers. When I got it, it was watery, bland and I threw half of it away. There was also nearly full trash barrels and dirty dishes left on tables that were never dealt with obviously. I agree with the reviews that it's quite dirty inside. Between the quality, service and cleanliness, I'd suggest they do an entire overhaul or maybe Green Bean can send them a muffin basket for all the customers that they will be sending their way. I am giving this place 5 stars, because it's a longtime favorite, but with one caveat: FLIES. I've been going to this place for years, every time I visit the NH area. Great coffee, locals place, paninis are solid, bread is solid, relaxed vibe. Ya, the service is slow; it's NH. But last two days, I went there and was relentlessly attacked by FLIES. I don't like flies. They are annoying. They land on your food. They land on your lap. They land on your friend's head. It's untenable. Folks, ya need to do something about the flies. First time coming to this restaurant despite coming to Exeter all of my life. I was willing to give it a try as my favorite restaurant was closed sadly. I ordered the tomato basil soup and the Californian grilled cheese with bacon. My boyfriend ordered the chicken avocado wrap. We both got some nice local squamscot sodas. Overall it was a mixed bag. There was easily half a tomato alone on the grilled cheese, and they could have stood to be sliced thinner so one did not have the overpowering taste of tomato versus cheesy goodness. The wrap was oddly dry and the chicken sucked the moisture out of my mouth when I ate it. Both sandwiches were not worth returning for. Period. The soup however was phenomenal. A real star. It was reminiscent of the soup my father used to make when I was young. I would enjoy this, and this alone, again. Overall my feelings towards the place are a 4/10. My boyfriend liked them better so average would most likely be a 5/10 because us. Maybe I'll be back for the soup or to try a scone. read more

For those unwilling to join me on my journey back in time (I'm looking at you, Mama B. and Sister B.) there are more adult creations such as the chicken sandwich and veggie panini they respectively selected. if you didn't know better, you'd be excused for thinking this place was New England's version of Panera. It looks a little... franchise-y... from the outside. Inside, however, you can read all about how they get their wheat from Bob the Farmer all the way over in Montana and bake it fresh every day in a pictorial history painted on the wall. The adjacent wall comprises the "Kid's Corner". There are several plush places to sit and the wall is painted with chalkboard paint so kids can create. I enjoyed watching a 10-ish year old boy painstakingly chalk his name in huge bubble letters only to have his 8-ish year old sister write "STINKS!" underneath without him knowing. read more

If you're a house fly lover, then Me & Ollie's Exeter is the place. You can sit down to a hot steaming cup of dark roast while being entertained by swarms of flies as they regurgitate on your sesame bagel. The music is funky, the staff it great, including the flies. The patrons are fun to watch as they swing and swat at the Musca domesticas. While waving and swatting, a patron from across the room waved back, I think. Or, maybe he was fighting the same fight as me. Regardless, it felt nice. Positive energy! read more

Used to love this place but the newer employees make the experience unenjoyable. Felt the judgment even as I used the right manners and then tiped 5$ for a 4$ order. Three of us got up to wait for the restroom, had not even made it down the hallway, we proceeded to get aggressively and rudely yelled at by an employee with a small bun. Halfway down the hallway we were told "one person per bathroom. not three. if you don't need to use the restroomm SIT DOWN BACK AT YOUR TABLE!" remind you we had not even opened the bathroom doors yet. Been here a few times. There are always flies everywhere, on the food, the tables, just in the air. One of the girls who makes the drinks also keeps wiping her nose on the back of her hand and handling the drink orders while doing so. Nice and cool inside on a hot day. The staff were friendly. It took longer than expected to get our food. The Asian chicken salad was good, but the dressing container was only half full and not nearly enough for the dish. The panini was okay, excellent pickles on it. For a bakery, I would have expected that the bread with our dishes would have been much better. The iced black tea was good and strong - it was the best part of our meal. Overall just an okay place.
