The Galley is a neat place to grab a bite to eat and they are also dog friendly! I was able to sit on the patio with my dog and enjoy the beautiful weather. All of the servers were incredibly friendly as well! I had the pimento cheese burger with bacon and it was delicious! I think I would have enjoyed it more without the bun so the cheese would have been the strongest flavor. Overall, it was delicious! The fries were also very good! read more

I have always loved The Galley, one of my favorite restaurants in town; however, my most recent trip was slightly disappointing. While my food was still delicious, it was extremely overpriced and the portions had shrunk. I had a watercress salad with goat cheese, beets, pistachios and added salmon for a total of $20!!! And I was still hungry when I left! The salad was $13 and it was $7 to add salmon, much to my surprise the salmon portion had been reduced to 4oz, half of what it used to be. I also got a glass of wine for $9, one of the cheepest on the menu. All in all, I paid $36 for a salad and wine and went home hungry. read more

Boy did we love this place. Having gone to OU for 4 years and visiting every year since (don't ask how many those are....), I had never heard of The Galley. Why? I have NO idea!! We were driving to Athens and my son found it on Yelp. So, let's try it. I CANNOT wait to go back!! I had the hot southern fried chicken that was A M A Z I N G!!! The salad that came with it was great. The mac and cheese is not to be believed. My husband got a burger and LOVED it. My son got a pasta dish and commented on how fantastic it was. So much of the food is homemade there; no packaged products for this place!! The atmosphere is really terrific. They re-purposed pieces of the old hotel for walls, etc. Very cool!! We had no wait. Plenty of seating around 7pm on a Friday. Wait staff was very helpful in answering questions. We didn't feel rushed and enjoyed hearing the band coming from the other side just prior to our departure around 8:30 pm. We actually wanted to go back on our way back through, but they are not open on Sundays. Boy was I bummed!!!! I LOVE going to Athens, and now I know where I'll be stopping for dinner on my way back through. read more

We spent an afternoon in Marietta and stumbled upon this place by chance (well, with help from Yelp.) We'd never been to town before and just drove into downtown and started looking around. Passed this, parked nearby to scope things out on the app, and decided it looked good. Very cool atmosphere inside: dark wood, interesting details, comfortable layout and seating. Service was great from the time we walked in till we left. We started with cheese fries: good fries, good cheese, and amazing bacon. Really- I'm not just saying that because I like bacon. This stuff was really good. Flavorful, not salty or greasy. Sweetie had some on her mushroom and Swiss burger, which she really liked. I had the avocado burger, which was excellent. Good bun, perfect burger, interesting toppings that all blended into an amazing sandwich. Prices are a little high, but it's really good food and a great experience. There was a band tuning up next door, and it looks like they have a good variety of music there. We might be back if we are in town again. read more

We apparently came here on the night when the local high schools were holding their proms. The waitress asked if we would mind sitting next door in the Adelphia, which was all well and good. However, they put us in a big empty room with no background music, the side door alarm was tripped several times by liquor deliveries, and then we were surrounded by gig equipment as the musical act for the evening started loading in all their gear (though someone had finally disabled the door alarm by then). I had the fish and chips, which was quite good (though the side of coleslaw was the confetti cabbage kind). I'd like to come back and give them another chance, since there were other options on the menu which looked good, but maybe during a less busy time of the year. read more

This restaurant was lovely and lively when we went on a Saturday. Cocktails were excellent. I highly Recommend the orange blossom mule. The charcuterie was also great and came with apples which was a nice touch. Our steak was well prepared and came with a salad, sesame veggies, and mashed potatoes. This is the best meal we've had in years! Every dish we ordered was exceptional. The best salmon I've ever had! Pasta was cooked to Perfection. The chef prepared our seafood pasta aglio, which was our request and not on the menu. We are picky and hard to please diners and we can't say enough about the delectable mea! This dining experience was a lot of fun. Very cool atmosphere and the food was fantastic. Appetizers-Brussel sprouts and calamari were delicious (the banana peppers in the calamari were a neat addition). Main courses of NY strip, fish and chips, pork chops, and mushroom ravioli were amazing. Cocktails were also really good. It was difficult to choose which dessert to get because there were so many amazing options. Cassandra was a wonderful sever. We were on our way to bring our daughter to graduate school and needed a place to stop for lunch. Found this place on a search app and decided to give it a try. Really cool atmosphere - rustic brick walls, dark leather-like booths, cool antique doors, and other decorations, and really high ceilings. I thought the menu was sort of limited, especially for lunch - we weren't there for steaks or big pasta meals, although the selection did look good. At my table, we had the fish sandwich (boyfriend raved about it, especially liked the great bun), cheeseburger (good reviews, high marks for the fresh-cut fries), and the Reuben (just right - I hate it when they pile the corned beef so high you can't even get it in your mouth. There was just enough corned beef, sauerkraut, and thousand island that made it just right. Came out super hot too!). The chips are homemade and on the thicker side. Some of mine had a ton of salt on them, but most were just right. Lunch for three totaled just over $50 (and we did not consume any alcohol). Pricey for lunch, but I would go there again if in the area. The Galley was one of the top rated restaurants among friends, but I will say the atmosphere leaves to be desired. Upon my arrival there was a man up front who walked away when he saw me and my family arrive. After being sat I inquired about the man to find out it was the restaurant manager who disregarded our arrival. The host who eventually came up to greet us was lovely, you could tell she was busy. We sat in a small booth where we could hear the kitchen preparing our food, but we could also hear what seemed to be a man yelling at staff, he said some words my 6 year old probably didn't need to hear. I am going to say, the food was fantastic, it just seems the management is a little over worked maybe? The staff seemed stressed as well, which kind of puts a damper on enjoying my french onion soup. I do not think it is a family environment, maybe they should consider rebranding into a sports bar. read more

I've visited this restaurant twice and have had great service and food both times! My latest visit our table split the meat tray. It was yummy! Crostini, salami, cheese, apple slices, and ham with grainy mustard. It was enough for 4 of us to share! For lunch I got the crab cake sandwich and ditched the bun. I also got a side salad with blue cheese. The crab cake almost tastes like it has cornbread in it. It's delicious! Some people may think it has too much filler but I enjoyed it. My salad was all fresh ingredients and one of the best blue cheese dressings I've had. Not sure if it's home made but it sure seems like it. Very large chunks of blue cheese. I loved it. Im from out of town and we had dinner here tonight with some friends - the food was ok but nothing special. I had the tuna steak dinner and the large, gross smear of wasabi seemed like an afterthought and was kinda nasty. Rice was way too salty and my request for rare was more medium well. Server seemed kinda drunk but whatever. Calamari app was good and I tasted a friend's burger that was really good. I was really irritated when the server added 18% gratuity on a party of 5 - then just disappeared. I usually tip 40% or more, but felt the unnecessary addition of gratuity to our check was total BS. Unmemorable food and terrible service. Came here with a group of six for dinner for work on a Wednesday at 7pm. Remember this time as it will be important for the rest of this review. I arrived a little later 730 but no big deal the rest of the group had just gotten their salads. The restaurant did not seem busy with maybe one other table and a pretty empty bar. Things started well enough until I was greeted with "what do you want" from the server when she come by to take my dinner order. I ordered the mussels appetizer and the "crispy" pork belly entree. Both my app and dinner came out together, ok I was late so no big deal. The mussels were not cooked long enough, which at least 5 that were barely open. The sever did say they tried to get the food out quickly but undercook shellfish can be a health hazard. The pork belly was not crispy and unevenly seasoned with some bites being too salty. The flavor was still ok but unremarkable. Come on it's bacon, if you can't get bacon right there is no hope. None of the other dinners looked remotely appetizing. Based on these factors I might have given this place a 2 but the final insult came about 10 minutes after we got meal. Remember how we got there at 7 and I had arrive at 730? We got our meal about 740 and the the server brought out the dessert tray at 750. 10 minutes after we got our meal!!! I was not the only one that was still working on my dinner!!! And while some people were finishing dessert the check came. For our group we could have kept drinking if only we weren't rushed out the door for some reason. Terrible!! The galley has a large beer selection and they aspire to a gastropub, but looks can be deceiving and in my opinion they fell very short in every respect based on our experience. read more

The atmosphere is unique and cool. They staff are fantastic - from the hostess to the waitress. Our waitress checked on us throughout the evening and always made sure we were good to go (I wish I remembered her name to give her a shout out). The food was delicious. I ordered filet mignon and my husband got the pork chops, which both were delicious. It is a bit pricey - for 4 drinks, and appetizer, and 2 entrees it was over $100 but totally worth it. And the fries were over done as well. Nor did they offer anything to compensate for the over done lunch. A free Chocolate shake would have been perfect. They ground their own onsite which you can taste the difference. One of the best backyard tasting burgers I've had at a restaurant. Even with the overdone burger and fries, I would return. If I hadn't been here several times before, knowing it used to be better, this would be a 1-star review. After many times here, I can say that it's going down down downhill. New menu? Super. Same burger, but instead of $10.99, it's now $14. We were there on a Wednesday evening. Literally the ONLY other table in the place was a group of staff who were working a concert that night at Adelphia next door. They worked there. One couple at the bar. And us. A group of six. Yet our server acted like she was in the weedy. Drinks kept getting mixed up. Slow, slow to come back. We had to wait to order more drinks (hello, honey; alcohol = larger bill = larger tip; you might want to keep 'em flowin'...). The food? Eh. Like I said. Same food, but fancier plates, smaller portions. The hummus trio? Teeny tiny little scoops of three flavors and about five tiny pita slices. Seriously? One bite trio, perhaps. Oh well. The burger and ahi tuna wrap were both uninspired - and c'mon, for $18, that ahi tuna wrap and onion rings better be more than just 'eh'. The kicker? We saw the server filling cabinets, folding silverware, putting stuff away - all while we're sitting waiting for ... whatever. Drinks, refills, our bill, etc. Never once came back proactively.
