This is my favorite place to eat in York County, and it's good for a date or a special night out. I am a small town gal and I love the vibe. I have been in York County less than 2 years but this is has become my go to place for a great dining experience. I've tried their Blackened Chicken Quesadillas, Jerline's Chicken Sandwich, Charleston Crab Cake Sandwich, and Jerline's Fried Chicken. The Praline Cheesecake (not pictured) is a large slice of creamy goodness. Their desserts and specials are not the same day to day, so you do get goodies outside of the online menu! I enjoy going in the evening hours when there is live music. Reservations are a must on the weekend, especially if you have a party of more than a few. My last server, who was also the bartender, did not give us his name and I wish I could shout him out. He was very patient with some of my folks who were acting a little unrefined (like they had been living in a cave). Even further, he knew the menu well. None of us are pork eaters and we made that known from the beginning, so when we ordered something that had some in it that wasn't listed on the menu, he quickly let us know and ran through options that we could substitute for. The ambiance is great, it's unique and and the prices are reasonable. Don't neglect the gift shop on the way out. The homemade french lavender soap is great! This is one of my favorite restaurants. The atmosphere is delightful! The food is delicious and the service is always great! Everyone is cordial and attentive. The bartender "Lauren" was great and makes a "Blue Ribbon" margarita! Our server "Eddie" was very good. We always have a very pleasant visit here. Don't forget the live music on Thursday the 26th! I arrived on my motorcycle at about 8pm on a Saturday evening in late August. The weather was perfect, and the lights and sign out front were very welcoming! I found it a bit odd to enter through the gift shop, but take an immediate left and you will find the servers ready to seat you. They asked if I had a reservation and I said no. They looked a bit concerned (as though all the tables were taken), but then asked if I would mind sitting at one of the two tables in the bar room area. I didn't mind, so they were able to seat me immediately. I first noticed that there was some live guitar music in the dining room across the way, which was a nice touch, though he didn't play for very long while I was there. After looking over the menu, I went with the two steak filets (cooked medium rare, and they came out perfectly) with pimento cheese on top and horseradish mashed potatoes. It also came with soup, so I had the loaded potato soup. When the soup arrived, it tasted great. The texture was unusual though, and it was SO THICK it almost seemed like the texture of pudding. I'm guessing it was made with mashed potatoes mixed in. A few minutes later the main course arrived, and the steak was amazing. The mashed potatoes were good too, though I didn't finish them all because the horseradish was a touch too strong for my taste (it was good, but it kept me from eating as many mashed potatoes as I normally would with a meal like that). The server also asked me if I wanted any bread and I said yes, so she brought me out a warm roll with butter. It was very soft and delicious, so I asked for another (they were free). For the $17.99 price tag, I thought the portions were very generous. I didn't order any desert. Afterwards, I walked around for a few minutes in the gift shop, though I didn't see anything I wanted and there was no one around to sell it to me anyway (the gift shop might have been closed at that point, though I didn't ask). Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere is amazing and unique, and the food is too! I couldn't have asked for anything more. This was our first time here. Went to Historic Brattonsville then up a nice country road about 12 miles for lunch. Had the Angus Burger with pimento cheese on Texas toast and a side of the fried green beans. I am 43 and have had my share of burgers. This was the best one I've ever tasted. Everything else I saw coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. I will be returning! This restaurant has been in York for as long as I can remember. Never been a huge fan but I figured I could come out for a nice family dinner and give it a go again. I ordered the Pan Seared Salmon with rice pilaf and green beans. Ordered it medium and I got a dry, flaky crispy piece of fish that was no where near medium. The green beans were gray in color and tasteless and the pilaf looked like it had been cooked yesterday and reheated. Great service, but terrible food. read more

This is a cute, unique place in the middle of nowhere. I wanted to love it so much. It was not bad, but it was not great. I wanted to try the fried green beans, but they were out. I ordered a garden salad and it was lettuce and cheese on a hot plate. The grilled cheese was delicious, but it was a grilled cheese. You can't go wrong there. I would give ZERO stars if I could. First of all, this place is NOT handicap friendly. They do have a ramp to get inside but the bathrooms are obstructed and have no grab-bars or anything in the room to use to stand/sit. My husband and I had to help his mother go to the bathroom because it would've been physically impossible for her to do so herself. Please don't come here if you have disabilities. Now for my biggest issue with this place. We came for post-wedding reservations, sat down and we're given drinks and eventually ordered. Apps came out hot and fast, but after we ordered food it took the waitress almost TWENTY MINUTES to come back and tell us that they didn't have the items we wanted. We sat down as soon as the doors opened, so I'm not sure why we weren't informed before we ordered that they were out of oysters... The rest of our guests were getting their food at this point.... The waitress comes back and orders another round of beer for the table but forgets that we were supposed to be ordering new items!!! She finally rushes back over another 5 minutes later to get our second orders. By the time we got our food, the rest of our party was done and ready for cake and had to wait for us to scarf our food down. I am highly disappointed in this place. I thought by most dinner items being $20+ that it would come along with at least half decent service. I've gotten better service at a Wendy's window. I will never be coming back to this shit show of a restaurant. read more

I got the bacon cider pork and I highly recommend it, as well as the hot bacon vinegarette on my salad. Unfortunately, Garden Cafe no longer keeps their information up to date on Yelp. As an example, we arrived at 6 PM on Saturday evening for an early dinner (6 is listed as the opening time). The parking lot was jammed and the restaurant was FULL, reservations only. They had opened early because there was a local "event". We still enjoy the food, restaurant ambience,etc. Just no longer will trust their site. read more

My daughter had the asparagus and salmon salad, but I had a burger and it tasted rotten. I almost threw up by tasting it. I talked to the waitress and expressed my concern and it fell on deaf ears. I didn't hear from a manager. I don't go out of my way to complain about food, but I do like to notify places if the food is off because I feel like I would like to know if I'm putting out a bad product. I did eat a 1/3 of the burger because I kept taking different things off of it trying to figure out where the foul taste was coming from and had my daughter taste it and she spit it out because of how disgusting it was. Still forced to pay full price with out hearing from kitchen or manager. They handled very poor. I would have at least liked to hear from a manager or kitchen staff, but nothing.
