My teenage daughter and I visited The Garden Table for the first time yesterday during our #pandemicadventure day downtown before the first day of virtual school. We were drawn in by the homey feel of their tented outdoor seating, and settled in and felt comfortable by their social distancing and hygiene practices. One thing I especially love is having a cold beer with my brunch. I had the choice of several local and regional craft beers on tap and well as more choices in bottles and cans. I chose a blood orange IPA which paired wonderfully with my BLTA sammy drizzled with spicy aioli. The bacon is cut thick and cooked well, which delighted me. Seems like more and more places are using extra thick cuts of bacon and undercooking it for their BLTs. I'm not about that. If I wanted porkbelly chewing gum, I'd ask for it. This girl wants a spicy BLT with a good crunch! The Garden Table delivers these goods! My daughter ordered the Basic B because she got a kick out of the name. Her plate had two overeasy eggs, toast, bacon, and taters. It was just the comfort food she was looking for. She enjoyed a spiced chai latte that wasn't too sweet. We also ordered a fresh-pressed juice called Lush Love. It containted watermelon, red grapefruit, coconut water, lime, and basil. Again, super refreshing on a humid day and not too sweet. The staff was incredbile cool and friendly, taking all safety precautions seriously. When lunch was over and we asked where they got the inclusive BLM/Pride flag they were flying, they weren't sure, so they handed us the card for their GM. I love The Garden Table. I've been to the Broadripple location a few times and always have a great meal. This was my first time at the Mass Ave. location and had a delicious meal. Service was great, food was clean and flavorful and the decor and feel of the place is fresh. I had the açaí bowl and an iced dirty chai. The bowl was filling but didn't make me feel sluggish. I loved all of the fresh fruit and coconut chips. The dirty chai was great too. My friend had the Turn-Key sandwich and really enjoyed it. I took a neon nectar juice home and wish I would've taken 5 home. It's my favorite juice on their menu. Highly recommend trying. I've been coming to Garden Table for a few years now and I've noticed many of the same wonderful staff have been serving me week after week, which I think really speaks to the quality of the restaurant's management. From the menu, every dish I've ever ordered has been fresh, flavorful and unique! Most recently, I discovered the breaded poachers, which were phenomenal. But my go-to dish is actually the citrus salad topped with an egg. I know it might sound weird to do a salad for breakfast, but it brings together all the flavors I want in my breakfast, just in a slightly healthier way. On the other hand, there's plenty of options for indulging. Just take a look at the freshly baked sweets on the counter. Yum! There's also a long list of hand-crafted coffees, juices and cocktails -- something to compliment every meal. As we walked in, I automatically felt like I was a restaurant in the Gold Coast or Lincoln Park area of the city, which are upscale trendy parts. I like the setting, and this restaurant, with the vibe it gives off needs to be next to Lake Michigan. Anyway, We were warmly greeted and shown to our table, the decorations of this restaurant really added to the mood. The butterfly mocha (back) and the strawberry brunette (front), which is in the photo, was spot on perfect and we needed another one for the road. As we ordered our food, it came out like how I cook at home--art and very presentable, so congrats to the chef . It was all picture worthy. Literally one of my favorite brunch spots and restaurants on Mass Ave overall. Their selection has a ton of options for both healthy lunch and breakfast as well as more savory options, including: quiche, sandwiches, salads, bowls and a few specialty plates. They rotate their menu in what seems to be a seasonal manner. They also have the cutest walkup bar where you can order coffee drinks and pastries from while you are waiting on your table or just grabbing an order to go. In the summer I love getting their chilaquiles or el desayuno (they're some of the best I've had in Indy) with verde sauce - currently not on the menu to my knowledge. They also have a juice flight which is great if you want to get to try a few before spending the money on full bottles (which they have to go if you find one that you particularly enjoy). Until today, I had been watching and waiting for Garden Table to make it's appearance for carryout and it was totally worth the wait. They are still doing carry out coffee with a full coffee bar menu. The dirty chai lattes are the best, not sweet at all and you can add in a milk substitute if you wish. For breakfast, they currently have a new menu item; chorizo tacos. For just $2 extra you can make them breakfast tacos by adding eggs your way - I got egg whites. While the tacos didn't come with a side, they were very filling. I did have to eat mine with a fork as my tortillas got pretty soft by the time I was home, but this is pretty common with breakfast tacos. Places where breakfast tacos are more popular (like Austin, Texas) they usually wrap them in aluminum foil for this reason. I also walked away with my favorite juice to go that I planned to save as a treat for later in the week. Their current carry out methods allow for very easy pickup. The process took me less than a few minutes. When I walked in, the doors were completely open and they had an enter and exit flow as well as bags marked with order names in different categories for pickup: from the Garden Table toast app, UberEats and GrubHub. The staff were super nice and the whole thing was completely contactless for me. I stopped by The Garden Table on my way back from a recent meeting in downtown Indy. It's situated on the southwest tip of Mass Ave, which (for you non-Indianapolis residents) is a cultural district that features lots of trendy businesses and restaurants. This is a farm-to-table type of restaurant, and they specialize in fresh dishes with artistic presentation. At almost 50 and 51, it's possible my wife and I were the oldest people in the restaurant, but that's actually OK. What we experienced was nothing short of highly impressive. The ambience: It was a bit noisy inside, and most of that loudness was coming from the blaring music and not from the other patrons. But, that does lend a certain mood to the experience. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the restrooms, as a side note. One of the first things you notice is all the natural light coming into this old (but nicely remodeled) building. The food: My Corleone sandwich was a type of "meatball sub" style, with a slightly smaller portion size due to the fact that I was there during lunch. It came with greens and roasted peppers, and I was very impressed. If it came in a footlong size, I would have easily conquered it. Great dishes always leave you wanting just a little more, and that's what happened here. I used a knife and fork on mine, and it was outstanding. Was looking for a healthy farm to table (ish) restaurant for dinner while in Indy last week and came across this place. As far as the atmosphere they have big windows that can open up which creates a nice indoor/outdoor vibe. The patio out front is big enough but what really makes it is the ability to people watch in all directions. As far as the food I order the poké bowl and I have to say. It's AMAZING. They also have these mangos that look like tiny teardrops. I've never seen them before but they are delicious. They are called mango pico's.
