I loved this place. It is in an old mill so it has a rustic, homey vibe. There are huge windows with a view of the river or dining al fresco. The food and the service were both amazing. My husband and I decided to find this place because we were given a coupon for a free dessert. ‍ We decided to share a pizza and salad. It was delicious. For dessert we had green tomato cake. Picked this town on a whim for a birthday getaway. It is about a 3 hour drive one way from my home and found this place while looking up dinner spots. This place was beyond amazing! The decor was stunning and felt like we were transformed into another era. I had noted it was my birthday on the reservation page and it seemed everyone knew and wished me a happy birthday. We ordered the shrimp ceviche and crab cake to start. Both were amazing but crab cake was our favorite. Ordered the duck and quail for the meal and not one complaint. Perfectly cooked, seasoned and the presentation was something of an art. I wasn't going to order the dessert but our waitress said if I got the pound cake I wouldn't be disappointed and man was she correct! The flavor and nice crunch of the butter on it was like something we have never had plus topped with lemon ice cream and I love all things lemon. Such a hit! Speaking of our waitress, Taylor. She was a pure delight! Knew the menu inside and out. Helped us with ideas on what to order and made us feel very special from the start to finish. The Garrison is lucky to have her. We reserved The Pantry (private) for an early 5:00pm seating for 10 and had a wonderful time The menu was unusual and delicious as were the desserts, it was very easy to talk and converse in this space which can be a problem with groups of this size. The entire place was really hopping on the first day of regular paying customers. We loved the Ozark Steampunk feel in the metallic molasses chute entry and the decor was comfortable and cozy. It's very dark as you enter so bring a phone light if you have eyesight issues in the dark. If the party room is not spoken for, you can sit in nice cushy sofas near the River and enjoy fire pits with views of a charming bridge and slight waterfall in the river. What an exceptional dining experience!! I never dreamt we would find such an amazing place nearby. The old Ozark Mill is restored with no expense withheld. We had dinner at the Garrison, their fine dining experience and everything was exceptional! The atmosphere, the jazz music at just the right level, candlelit tables, exceptional service and the food, oh my, the food. Every bite of every dish was fresh and bursting with flavor. The fresh seafood was as good as Narragansett and attention was paid to every detail. Excellent tea options and amazing desserts topped off the night. An absolutely wonderful evening, exactly what I wanted and more than I thought we could get in this area. It was the perfect way to celebrate our 25th anniversary. read more

It's quite the transition from hectic Hwy 65 thru West Ozark to a suddenly tranquil, almost serene area on the Finley River. While it's a jaunt from the parking area, the exercise is well-rewarded by the atmosphere, food, service & cocktails. Upon presenting our reservation upstairs, we were curiously given a "password" and sent downstairs. We basically entered a large tunnel steering us to the restaurant, emphasizing its seclusion. Arriving at the second attendant, we were asked for our password. While I'm not sure Speakeasies were as nicely appointed as The Garrison, it was a nice touch in underscoring the exclusivity & isolation of the destination. We were immediately seated at a table for two, on display between the two rows of secluded booths on each side. It was darkened yet the clever use of spot lighting accented key features including the magnificent bar at the end of the room. I could have fallen asleep in the comfortable seats. We were greeted by a wonderfully articulate waitress who had obviously mastered the menu, relating some suggestions. We had an extremely pleasant conversation with her in between presentations of our orders. My wife opened with a Millpond, a take-off of the Peruvian Pisco, while I ordered a Turbine, basically an upscale Reposado margarita. She loved hers while mine was...unique. Sometimes a plethora of ingredients muddles the flavor as they lose their individual distinctiveness. My wife had the Apple & Belgian Endive salad, while I sampled the Bison Tartare, both outstanding...very flavorful. For entrées, the Sea Scallops with truffle cream corn for Madam while I had the Red Snapper with a Red Curry sauce. Both were absolutely divine. The Coconut slaw was particularly complimentary. We finished by splitting an order of Ricotta Doughnuts which was a perfect ending to a truly special evening, sharing an awesomely intimate venue. Like Johnny Morris' other ventures, this had his signature attention to detail all over it. Perfect experience in both food and service! Arriving at Finley Farms, you get to step back in time and enjoy a bit of history while the host sends you on a little adventure to gain access to The Garrison. Our reservation was early, 6pm- and the restaurant was quiet with conversation and moody music to set the tone. I was the designated driver- so the wife could explore the unique cocktails and have one fantastic glass or cab from Paso. Our server was amazing and informative- took us through the process of the shared small plates and off we went. Starting with Bison Tartar and Smoked Shrimp- both amazing. The tartar had heat- just enough to make it interesting and the snap peas with the smoke shrimp were bright and crispy. Must have here is the Kale salad- simple in ingredients- really let the "fresh and lite" be the story. We did three larger plates to explore the main menu. First- beef cheek pot roast with celery root purée. Holy moly- just get it. The red snapper gave us the range of the chef with an Asian inspired preparation and a perfectly cooked piece of fish. And finally, a rich preparation of duck. The plates were all amazing- and empty at the end. Finish with some version of a doughnut hole with a cream dipping sauce. Best way to describe it was high class elephant ear in a more reasonable way to enjoy it. It was amazing. Never felt rushed as the late crowd showed up to the bar and the later reservations blended into the background. Go there- expect to spend a bit- but the value for the preparation you get is spot on. read more

I have no idea why it says I live in San Francisco. My wife and I live in Springfield, Missouri. Thought I would clear that up. We had made reservations over a month ago for August. I had been on the reservations website several times and had only seen seating for lounge and patio. My wife has health issues so I opted for the lounge believing that since this was supposed to be like a speakeasy the indoor seating area was called a lounge. About 3 weeks before our reservation I get a text saying our table would be ready in 15 minutes. I called and they finally figured out that my reservation was truely in August. Imagine my surprise when we arrived for our real reservation we were seated in 2 chairs with no table. I inquired with the hostess and was told that was what I reserved. The lounge apparently is seating for drinks and conversation. Imagine my surprise. There was still no mention of any other possible seating arrangements. She got a manager for me to speak to and he said there are actually 4 seating situations and I needed to have reserved the main dining. As I said I had been on their reservations site severeal times and had only seen lounge and patio. NO MENTION of any other seating arrangements. So we left. I was told on more than one occation that there were problems with their reservation site and I will agree with that. Probably one of the worst ones I have come across. read more
